  1. I agree with Luis, that's a much better bid. To bad I forgot to mention it :) Mike :D
  2. I duck the first ♣. Win the next one and play the Ace of ♥. It is 47 % chance to get 3 ♥ tricks. Mike ;)
  3. 5♣ told my story. They "gambled" 6♥, and if I bid 7♣ they might bid 7♥ which could make. I don't like to try to tell my hand more then once, it didn't get any better with the bidding. Mike ;)
  4. It takes lots of practice. A marathon runner doesn't start out running that long in his first try. And knowing if a contract is cold and only playing for overtricks is just experience, and even big matches have been lost by letting them make an overtrick. Mike ;)
  5. I got great hand, my question is about how to find out about Grand Slam. I will bid 5♥, letting pd know I have interest, he already showed a better hand then minimum. Mike ;)
  6. Pd wants to go to slam, but not sure which one. I bid 6♣, that should show longer ♣ then ♥. To bad my K♦ is wasted. Mike ;)
  7. I play it as a splinter, with a nice hand ( for my forcing 1 NT ). Mike ;)
  8. I agree, some people are very annoying, sitting down, rattling of a whole system and then when play finally starts, they get bad score and all of a sudden have to go. I generally check and it shows them playing at another table within 10 seconds. Give them a 2 day suspension or something like that, when they are repeat offenders. Mike ;)
  9. When not sure about something, better to call TD. In this case it should have been alerted, and if you were damaged, you should have gotten a adjusted score and opps same and a warning. Mike ;)
  10. If that would be true, half the stars would be starless ( probably even more ). Mike :D
  11. I might consider it. Would be fun. I am not a worldclass starplayer, thank God, but I don't lose to often :D Mike :D
  12. I always play East or North, when I sit down. I always have bad game if I sit any other way, that's why I like live tourneys where at least I can decide where to sit :D Mike :D
  13. Sometimes preempts just work, but I think that X with South hand is best. Ax isn't the best stopper, even though I can see 3 NT. But North does have 2 aces and a long suit and possibly could make a 4 NT try. But I think 3 NT is normal result on most tables. Mike :D
  14. Bid 6 with one tophonor and 7 with 2. But I think if you go slow after 2♣ opening you will find it anyhow. Isn't that why people play RKC ? Mike
  15. 1 NT, don't see the problem. Balanced 15-17. That's what I got. People that don't open 1 NT with this because they don't have all the suits stopped, are missing out on a lot. Mike
  16. Support with support. But nomore then 3♥, that's all my hand is worth. It does help that I tend to play with pd's who don't overcall on crap. Am sure that there will be many passers out there, who are used to playing with pds that will overcall on about anything. Mike
  17. Every convention has some perks, and very maybe this might be one for Flannery. Makes my stomach turn.... :) Mike :D
  18. p-p-1♣-1♥ X-3♣, and this is where it get's good. This is a bergen raise showing 4 trump and 7-9 HCP, and denies a singleton or void, since I would bid 2 NT with shortness somewhere and 4+ trump. And pd can bid 3♦ with game interest, or X if they interfere. Mike :)
  19. You can join many places on BBO to learn 2/1. Fifth Chair would be a good start. Mike
  20. You said it yourself, you promise 8.5 tricks. You have 11. This is a monster hand. If I can't open it wisely, system wise aka precision, then I just open it 6♠. Mike
  21. If it was ACBL tourney then you do get penalized for opening at 1 level with less then 8 HCP, but I disagree with the ruling. The opps got 60 % for trying to 2 way it. Hoping it would go down and if not call the director and complain. I would give both sides A- or 40%. Mike
  22. 1♠ both hands, 2 reasons. I have the mastersuit and ZAR tells me too. Mike
  23. I can come up with many 15 point hands pd can have where game is cold and possibly slam. So pass is out of the question. I bid 1 NT forcing. Mike
  24. HAH, he was somewhat right, it is actually 96.77 % Even a better shot at game. Mike B)
