  1. Find another bid, it's not brainsurgery. Not every bid is clearcut in bridge, sometimes you have make up a bid. This is one of these times. Mike :D
  2. Showing a balanced good hand, with no 4 card major for sure and not ♦ cards for 3 NT. Optional I would say, pd make a wise decision, you know what I have now, I am not sure what you have. Mike :D
  3. I tend to play 2 NT as weak or GF. Therefore on this hand I would have bid ♥ first. Now that I bid 2 NT, I have not much else to do. But if pd would have bid 5♣ after 4♠ indicating double fit and nice hand I would have bid 6♥. Mike :D
  4. Pass, nothing to say. Only if I am down 60 imps with 4 hands to go I might go on. Luckily I have never been in that situation :D Mike :D
  5. Agree with Luis auction. Mike :D
  6. If it confuses you it does the same to the opps, since they have no more info then you. At least they shouldn't. Mike :D
  7. I play ♦ to the K. I have other chances too, to make this hand. I don't have to live of the ♦, I have squeeze possibilities, ♣ might be 3-3 or J drop doubleton, ♥ finesse. I don't like going down 1 at trick 2, if I wanted to do that I might as well duck the ♣ lead. Mike :D
  8. With Wayne putting it down so perfectly there is not much I can add. Mike :D
  9. Since I am an old man, I keep leading 4th from my longest and strongest. Mike :D
  10. If ♦ break no worse then 4-2 with Q dropping 2nd it is icecold, also with 3-3 splits. With 2♣ ruffs we have 13 tricks, if Q doesn't drop we have ♠ finesse available. Mike :D
  11. I am playing 3 rounds of ♥ to learn some more. East is likely to have 5 baby♥ and 3♠ and 3♦ or possible 4. I am trying to learn as much as I can about the hand, and if I can't find out I will finesse against East, simply because West made TO X and is more likely to be short. Mike :D
  12. 2/1 with weak NT, roman carding and UDA. Will take on anybody with that. Mike ;)
  13. Answer 3: No. Not as things stand. There is no way I could sit down opposite a parter of equal strength and hope to compete long term against a well-seasoned pair of equal skill. This is especially true if their system is at all "unusual" to me or my partner. What can be done about this? The problem is that there is nothing published (at least nothing I know about) which shows how to defend against any new convention one comes across. While there is this lack, there is never going to be any hope for pick-up partners (especially if they come from different parts of the world) to adequately defend themselves. Eric That's why we are here and play and learn. Better run into it on BBO and start talking to people asking about possible defenses and learn from that. Mike ;)
  14. Everybody can play strong suit systems, but most can't do a lot after some good interference. Mike ;)
  15. I think 3♠ is where it got out of hand, expecting a better hand. I think 2NT is a better bid with that hand. Mike B)
  16. Nice 2♥ bid :D My pd has ♠, hope it is not to late to switch to ♠. Mike :D
  17. ♣ lead. 4th From my longest and strongest. It will not go down on ♦ lead I think. Mike :D
  18. I guess I am just to lazy to type everything out. But it goes without saying, well at least in my mind, to ruff with the 10 of ♠. Mike :D
  19. Hmm, think this is more example of opps going insane. Mike :D
  20. Never mind the guarantee. Has it any statistical validity whatsoever? Law of Symetry works for me, maybe only psychological. But it is based on some mathematical formula. I just wish I would paid attention in school instead of chasing girls and go surfing and sailing. O well bet ya I had more fun tho Mike :D
  21. I'll ask in ♠, if nothing there points must be good for me. If points there I am signing of in 4♥. Mike :D
