  1. What is 3♣ going to get you? Time to get out before we get high enough or breaks bad enough we get doubled.
  2. Gib may not have been able to run a simulation and defaulted to pass. Surely you promise a heart stop even though it doesn't say.
  3. The bigger question is why lie on this hand? Gib has 16 hcp and 5 solid ♥ and no ♠ stop. Surely bidding ♥ or doubling ♥ have to be the top 2 choices. Bidding 1N planning on taking 7 tricks on fly in NT is something a human might try .
  4. As an aside this shows the inferiority of Texas. South African Transfers is trivial though you might miss others. .... 2N-4♣ (shows hearts) 4♦ good for hearts etc.. Only loss is Gerber no biggie imho.
  5. This really depends on what you want from your system and what your system is. Also, your style. Do you want to punish opponents when they come into your auction or do prefer to do best to find your contract?
  6. Sometimes declaring Gib has a choice of two finesses to take. Gib picks one and it works, Comes back to hand and it doesn't do the one that worked. Yes they could be holding up, but maybe it worked!!
  7. Gib switches when it gets a favourable result on opening lead way too often. There has to be a bug. Form of scoring does matters but not much, i think is just how result is scored. But is just trying to maximize average score.
  8. This was with advanced robots. But if there is a bias against leading bid suit or if there is a bug giving Gib all the time in the world wont change outcome. That your PC Gib found a spade lead makes me suspect BBO has made a change in the program accidently or on purpose and screwed it up!
  9. I hope they are clear when they publish in the bulletin. If the average player can't figure them out they aren't much good.
  10. advanced robots challenge match another bad lead: trump. here K♠ or ♦ should be safe. obvious south has 1♥ so need ten or Q to be ok. South should double diamonds but still safer to lead ♦ hand
  11. I would be very happy if Ekrens were allowed. I hope so. " 2.*** “Natural”: . Any opening bid at the two-level or higher showing 5 or more cards in the suit bid. Disallowed 7. An Artificial openingPreempt .... Your definition is 2a) and applies to one-bids.I wish ACBL provided a list of what is allowed on each chart instead of having to interpret bridge legalize. Even if can't cover everything and just a guide.
  12. I think you want to recheck rules on natural preempts for 2♦/2♥/2♠ I think you need to promises 5 cards in known suit to qualify as natural if preempt. 2N can be any two known suits, so can fill a gap. Was previously had to be both minors if artificial.
  13. Sure on perfect defense it doesn't matter. On spade lead is easy. I am trying to beat contract (or just not perfect) and blow a trick. A spade lead obviously is the best chance to defeat the contract or take most tricks if at matchpoints.
  14. My hand OK this is a prime example. I opened 1♠. I certainly would agree if Gib has something better to do lead as hand indicates. But Gib couldn't even scrape up a response. Leading anything but a spade isn't bridge! Cost a trick which didn't matter as imps, but what if that was the setting trick?
  15. IMPS/MP makes huge difference. The people I know open all 12 hcp hands no matter how bad. Often bidding weak 1N Passing 12 hcp bds on average gives bad results. Not saying perfect solution.
  16. Gib made a mild slam try that easily could have been a NT probe.. North hand needs to just keep bidding until south has denied both red aces.
  17. Hand 1 2♦ is GF so expect to get high when you later show a fit AND values Hand 2 you cuebid twice. Only -1. I think you have your bid. Why did Gib bid 2C to hear it's own voice. Simple pass why make a free bid. Apparently because a free bid doesn't show extras. What a silly method.
  18. There often isn't room for all information. But certainly confirming all KC would be nice. Some people ask for Kings to find 6N.
  19. Why do takeout? It's best suit is♣ . Does this sort of takeout show clubs? Either bid 2♣ or defend partner can't have much.
  20. Not completely true. But the few signals Gib is supposed to give on opening leads according to documentation you can't be sure Gib is giving them. So effectively there are no signals.
  21. Gib has no clue how to bid slams! When partner opens 2♣ they are in charge until they bid NT or sign-off (even then sign-offs most of time) Bidding 7♥ is just ridiculous. Beside the obvious that might be off an ace 7N might be safer. Partner could have ♦ support and 7D safer. To get to pts to bid 7 I suspect Gib is counting it's 2 doubletons. Doubleton just aren't clearly pulling weight in 7H. Need controls and tricks to bid slam! Not whatever silly point count method Gib is using,
  22. Disclosure. Sure will disclose that overcall could be based on shape not HCP. You still don't know for sure what we have. That's the point if your methods only guarantee hcp and our methods only show shape. It is know on average the 1♣ side will have more hcp on average. It will still be difficult to decide whether to stop and penalize or find own best spot. Meanwhile your space for finding your spot will be reduced. At MP especially that is all we desire.
  23. so ask them. i m sure will say they doesn't promise much in terms of values/hcp overcalling on shape Yes partially sarcastic. Is disclosure issue not alert issue. Presumably you alerting as artificial so up to opponents to ask to find pt range.
