The best thing about having a dufus as President in the USA, the president has very little powers. As far as creating a "space force" the President has no capability to do this. This is something that is 100% controlled by congress. Other than holding his breath he has no method to get a space force.

[hv=pc=n&w=sqhq832dk962cj653&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=pp1dp1h1s3nppp]133|200[/hv] South does not have their bid.Was Geo day 2 mp Opening lead was 3♣, Try and convince me that any lead other than the Q♠ partner' suit isn't a bug. Gib has stopped leading partner's overcall suit. The older commercial Gib program will lead partner's suit. The logical conclusion is that the programmer's have introduced a bug which prevents Gib from leading partner's suit. Everyone knows you can easily find more examples of this.

It was one thing to have a space force. To deploy it would probably violate treaties and certainly would piss off several countries to no end. Also, it isn't like USA has an extra plugged nickel to spend on this which would cost billions of $.

3H isn't forcing in Standard American. Bids in Acol are usually less forcing than in standard. From my understanding of Acol 3H can easily be passed. Nice hand for a Acol 2H opening as others have said. I stopped playing this not because it didn't work but because it never came up.

did I promise akQ seventh ? Simulation?
steve2005 replied to virgosrock's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
At least this could have a play if east has Q♥. Often on these jumps there is zero play. Costs nothing to ask for KC and find out missing Q♥ Most ridiculous jump I have seen. 2♣-2♦-2♠-6NT Missing 7♥ and 7NT Here jump was ridiculous and premature checking for KC would not have helped find the heart fit. -
The odds favour finessing unless you have received other information on the distribution of the hand. Peeking would help lol. The playing of the small cards if true cards imo don't make not finessing greater than 50%. And the cards opps have can virtually be played in any order without hurting the number of tricks they get.

Virgo is right he has pointed out numerous examples of bad doubles (takeout or penalty) In any case it is very difficult to make a penalty double. Gib will leave in a penalty double on unsuitable hands and pull penalty double when you are destroying the opponents. And as Virgo has pointed out you can not trust a penalty double by Gib. There is no simple fix. This would be a major fix to Gib's program.

4♠ from a human partner I wouldn't even think they were overbidding.

all are limited yet heading slamward
steve2005 replied to virgosrock's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Sorry Virgo. By no means was I suggesting you not report something like this. Just that it is a common problem. In my opinion to fix this problem would essentially mean rewriting program. Which would probably be a good idea :) -
Nobody is using Human logic. We are using Gib's own definitions 1♦=3+♦, 2♥=5+♦ 4♦=1♦

all are limited yet heading slamward

It is not uncommon for Gib to bid on to slam after a sign-off. Programmers have not addressed this issue. You can find numerous examples posted. Even more haven't been posted. -
"Just Declare" Is Not Real Bridge
steve2005 replied to USViking's topic in BBO Tournaments Discussion
It is arguable Bridge with Gib isn't real bridge. I see nothing wrong with just declare other than that I have no interest in it. -
Strong Jump Shift Guidance.
steve2005 replied to FelicityR's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Strong jump shifts work. The biggest problem is frequency, they dont come up often so people want to use something else for that bid which will be more useful. Also there is less of a need for SJS playing 2/1 but they do still help. -
Not an excuse. I presume Gib has 1♦-1♠-4♦ showing 6♦4♠.
-
This hand should pattern out with 3♥ showing 6-5. So 4♦ should probably be something like 7-4 or 8-4. Is unusual enough if was undefined wouldn't be a big deal. But you can not have a bid show 1 card or 0-1 card when previous bidding has shown 3+ cards in the suit and really this bidding has shown 5+ cards. This mistake seem to indicated something I suspected, Gib may not always be considering previous bidding when it makes a current decision. This may explain some of Gib's horrid bidding mistakes.

Hand This was in a challenge match normal robots. South opens 1♦ promising at least 3 cards in the suit. Later South jumps in ♦ and Gib treats as a splinter in support of spades with 3♠ and now 1♦. So this is definitely a bug. 4♦ probably not wise bid but isn't the point. After the splinter bidding gets out of control but again isn't relevant Also interesting West Gib with A♠ cant find a double. Guess it was afraid it's 2 aces wasn't enough against 7NT? East surely also has a double. Mercy rule ?!

from the director " I took the hesitation problem to 3 director's and the ACBL help desk. Although there is supposed to be a delay in bidding after a jump there was agreement that a change in tempo is sufficient to consider the bidding after the change in tempo." So they looked at the bidding most players would not make the bid made which is agreed but... Does this override 16Ba Says cant make a call that is demonstrably suggest by the ui So before you even poll you need to show bid was suggested by tempo. Quick bids mean min hands and suggest a pass.

Improvements please
steve2005 replied to JanisW's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
West should bid 2D first but this shouldn't affect result . West normally should bid 6S at end but need to protect KD so maybe 6N If playing 2.1 West should bid 3S to set trump. -
Canada Mexico and Bermuda are part of the ACBL.In past have even fielded a joint team for Burmuda bowl but not for a while. why this is so iis more difficult.
-
cant remember hand exactly either had extra club or extra spade. Stop card not used in acbl
-
[hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1h2sp4sp(think.hesitation%3E)p5dppp]133|100[/hv] Ok here was the bidding. EW said there was clear hesitation on the pass by North after edit 4♠. NO STOP CARD ACBL Clear was wrong there was at most 2 seconds of thought, After jump like this if anything the pass was too quick, Now after the hand EW say they were damaged as N has a rockcrusher that clearly should have taken a bid. While South which i cant remember their exact hand had KQTxxx diamonds 2 small hearts 3 clubs to Q or J and singleton spade. So dont have much. The claim is S must have UI somehow or couldn't have made 5♦ bid Result was 5♦+1 which was lucky on 3-3 heart break but 5♦ is always there. Should this be rolled back to 4♠?
-
That is just it South does not know there is a double fit. a 4-3 fit does not constitute a double fit. If South knew North had 5H i am sure they just bid 4H. So how do they find out if North has 5H? Bid 3H forcing obviously.

Ok wierd. maybe i misread email

Bid this and why?
steve2005 replied to dickiegera's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Double if they bid clubs hopefully partner can double it.
