I suggest reaching into your bidding box several times before finally coming out with a 2M bid.If playing upside down, play your bidding card quickly. The answer is no! <sarcasm is involved>

Only giving part of your partner's hand in this case creates a bias against your partner.

Choose your Contract

Things can fall into place and walla! But easy for problems to arise. One thing you have going for you if spades are 3-2 (which you need) the odds for hearts being 3-2 goes up. -
In ACBL they are also alertable as they are a non-forcing bid after a opening 2-bid. I don't know if the other EBU things apply to ACBL but as they are artificial I would assume so.

I have noticed sometimes the robot doesn't take a trick when it is obviously right to do so. In the case here and I suspect in all cases double dummy Gib has decided that ducking doesn't matter. This all fine but Gib can make a mistake as it usually doesn't know all the cards. I am thinking this may be part of the reason Gib used to not cash an ace on lead against 7NT. Here my example contract is 2S by south. South led 6D, west TD, north JD Gib east has played 5♦. Gib knows the diamond situation so ducking doesn't hurt but it doesn't help either. NOTE: This example is to show that Gib purposely delays taking tricks. The actual hand isn't that exciting. My link [hv=pc=n&s=sh3d96cj&w=shq98dtc&n=s7hdqj8c&e=sh2dK5c9]399|300[/hv]

Give Helene a break. Helen passed with 14 hcp. Helene could easily have a 11 hcp hand in 3rd seat even with 3♦ occasionally. The four level isn't going to be safe opposite 12 hcp either. <edit> and pass already says there is no realistic chance for game.</edit> The actual hand 14 hcp has 4 top losers in 4♦. After a pass by Helene forcing to 4-level the question is why? Opposite a pass 5♦ seems unlikely. 3NT will take a perfect hand. opposite 8 hcp. After pass by Helene 3♦ is plenty.

This double bid has no power enough to force to game

Yes and I said it much clearer and in a post not the title so people can quote it! -

North is a passed hand. How can you expect north to have the values to force to game? Obviously North has around 11. -
Why is Gib simulating? Partner say 3N is spot. 3N should be a source of tricks usually spades not the collection of 18 hcp. Don't know what Gib meaning for 3N is? North has no cards that's say otherwise to 3NT in fact with outside stoppers is perfect for 3N. South could even be short in hearts..

Yes hcp are not the best indicator for slam. but agree most 12+ should be and if they aren't you should be free to downgrade to a 1♥ bid.
-
In Meck-Lite Precision 1♣-1♥ is 8-11 most hands. Would using 1♥ as 8-10 be feasible? With the 12+ bids becoming 11+ bids. Also, has anyone seen a pair playing this or in a write-up?
-
I am not sure of 11-13 is to specific. The problem is there seems to be no diamond stopper. So more should be possible, points as usual don't describe a hand. But yes there are many sequences where Gib has narrowed down it's hand after 2 or 3 bids to 11-21. The system at times is unworkable.

1) points of player are not necessarily any more relevant. The worst player I have ever seen in BBO tournaments has a very high number and I don't know how? If you can't trust your potential partner's self-assessment rating, next thing you will be saying is there is no Santa Claus. 2) BBO says methods are included in the compatibility rating of players. 3) Some tables don't just take anyone. You need permission to join. Of course more than one person can try to join at same time as you do, so you may not get the chair. 4) This is a good idea, congrats! One way to avoid problem is to set table as requiring permission to join. But still a good idea.

5) the number means.... My link

I Like 2N followed by 3♥ hopefully shows a stop with 4♠

Situation 2. If found to be true a procedural penalty and a player memo are in order.
-
Is it clear that bidding on is more favourable for opener? Could North's huddle be as had a penalty. Now bidding on could get a minus when passing gets a plus. Plus the poll gives 80% for bidding on. Give them a break.
-
Why bid 2D? just pass have garbage. Then opener can bid 2♦.

2 Grrand Slams (1510 IMPs) in 4 Hands by GIB
steve2005 replied to thepossum's topic in Novice and Beginner Forum
Gib uses KC inappropriately. Here there is likely grand slam unless off KC or Q. So check! -
opps del

I would bid 2♥. 1) your side may have no ♠ stopper 2) if partner has 5♥ partner will know we have fit 3) Opps will find it harder to balanced against 2♥ as won't know if we have 7 or 8+♥. So opps don't know if they have a fit 4) potential for ♠ ruffs.

Three-suiters are notoriously hard to bid. Even a stronger hand than this it could still be right to open 1♣. Three suiters play well if you find a fit so you may need to make 3 natural bids for best result. If you have a way to show a 3-suiter after opening 2♣ is different but most don't. Is perfect hand for a strong 2♦ three suiter bid if you want to wait 6 months for such a hand to come up if Multi isn't allowed.
