  1. There is a good chance this is being doubled on a heart fit.Doubler may not have enough points to legitimately set 1N. However has good enough hearts expects to knock out partner's stopper(s) and run some heart tricks, Clearly you have enough points to make 1N often. The only question is can you take 7 tricks before partner's major suit stoppers are gone? If you pass 1NX there is a good chance you play it there. If you had this hand opposite a 1NT opening I don't think you would be allowed to play 1NX. Opponents will have too many major suit cards and not enough points to leave in.
  2. [hv=pc=n&s=s92hk632dak83ca32&w=skj73hq97dqt72ck6&n=sahaj8dj965cqj854&e=sqt8654ht54d4ct97]399|300[/hv] [hv=d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1dp2cp2np3n]133|100[/hv] Imp challenge match normal robots Ok Gib manages to hit right suit and leads a spade. East plays T ♠ I am not sure if that has any significance. I thought Gib only showed count and this isn't one of the situations. Anyways it would be nice if T showed attitude. Wins A ♠ and takes losing club finesse. West can't find a spade continuation for -2 instead 3N makes +1 but could even had made +2
  3. http://tinyurl.com/y796k8q7 imp challenge match, normal bot Here Gib makes an imaginative lead though I suspect imagination had nothing to do with was from simulation. Nevertheless, I knew I was toast. Was K from KJ9xxxx I bid 2N here as balanced strong as doesn't come up so wanted to see what would happen. I think I need a better stopper as lead shows.
  4. Gib needs an Ace to cuebid so can\t.Even if it could, probably isn't defined well enough to be helpful to find slam. Gib's idea of looking for slam is to KC.
  5. What's the system bid if they ever get an 10 or 11 card suit?B-)
  6. I have a partner who thought for a long time before ducking. Opps had made a mild slam try and ended up in 4♥. Partner had AJx spades A and some small diamonds. Board had Kxx diamonds. Declarer led T diamonds Partner thought for a very long time before ducking. Incredible declarer didnt even have JD there wasn't even a guess but if there was he just gave it to him, Cashing the two aces would have been a top, IMHO cashing the two aces was possible as the 1st two tricks.
  7. I am not sure a hesitation on this hand indicates anything other than not a good bridge player. Is clear you have to guess spade and don't have a singleton so will always duck. Except maybe with A&Q.
  8. 3♠ is just as bizarre. Is a minimum misfit have to pass. Might as well just bid hopeless 3N as 3♠. 3♥ normally will have a play. Unfortunately, South doesn't have a 3♥ bid so 4 trump losers.
  9. oh often you aren't as clear as you could be, didnt realize this was best you thought could get. I am not fond of the way Gib responds to doubles. Here over a preempt nobody has limited their strength. You backed into a fit, but have no idea if too high or have a grand slam. Maybe not bidding other things has denied some strength, but not included in descriptions which is what a human has to use to make decisions
  10. I think you are resulting. Gib just isn't a good enough bidder to expect to find 6♣ on hands like this especially after a pre-empt opening.
  11. easy I play a lot is surprising how often, sometimes I have encountered as opponent.I dont see how this takes anymore time. You are displaying some of this information already, simply display a different screen. Also you are allowed to colour code players which shows in profile but not what is displayed to potential sub.
  12. When you register as a sub then requested as a sub I think you should be given more information on player you will be playing with. I suggest you get to view their profile. You are allowed to make notes on profile, so you can see information you have written previous times you have encountered this player.
  13. I don't think you can show a good spade hand by doubling and bidding spades later. Maybe I am wrong? please correct. I don't think Virgo bid is completely insane. North is marked to be short in hearts and 4 or 5 clubs. This should be a good sacrifice as these colours. Plus could cause opponents to miss their best contract which in this case is 5♣X which they dutifully missed lol
  14. Easier question: What is the meaning of life?
  15. Ten points balanced are not the type of hands you want to make a cuebid opposite a human overcall. Look yourself in the mirror, you know the crap you bid on, (Not talking about Stephen lol of course) The actual hand is a great hand, 5 losers with a likely source of side tricks. IMHO South dropped the ball by not making a game try.
  16. Agreed showing stoppers just increases the chance you will go down in 3NT.2M should be used for something useful. For those where 2♦ hasn't denied a major you need to clearly show a 4-card major somehow.. Going completely artificial after 2♦ makes a lot of sense, but most partnerships can't do that.
  17. Is it my imagination or does a TD come to the table and immediately tell you to bid even though in your message to TD you have said you want explanation of an artificial bid? I have nothing against people using artificial systems, I often use artificial methods with right partner. However, I fully disclose my bids in the first place and give full explanation when asked. On BBO I can't even find out if 1♣ shows clubs. It is like pulling teeth. I have had a situation where I asked 5 questions in order to find out a meaning of a relatively simple bid. When TD showed up TD asked why I haven't bid yet as player has explained their bid fully. Yes, I had advised TD that the opps were not explaining their bid. Sure once I gave opps the 3rd degree they explained their bid.
  18. Often in 2/1 you have difficulty showing extra values. That said, find better ways in 2/1 to show extra values. SJS while may solve a problem they are so few using jump for anything else has to be an improvement.
  19. better than Jxx which is what Gib had for your previous 2 examples.
  20. I don't see why guaranteeing a 7-card fit is important? You are always guaranteed a 7-card fit with partner no matter what your hand is. This will depend on chart in effect. Basic - no Basic+-No. Says any natural opening allowed. Doesn't say quasi-natural which is what you bid describes. It also does not meet definition of 3-suiter. Open - tells what is forbidden. Here is where is is tricky. There doesn't appear to be forbidden specifically. But you could have length in clubs so will require avg strength (especially if passable) Open+ - appears to be the same as Open
  21. [hv=d=s&v=b&b=7&a=2cp2dp2h]133|100[/hv] 2♣=strong, 2♦=waiting, 2♥ described as one of 3 hand types and forcing 2♠. Now opps ended up in an unstoppable contract and realistically there wasn't anything we could do about it but that isn't the point. It could have changed our bidding or defense. Opp wouldn't explain 2♥ said would show hand type with next bid. but wouldn't disclose further. Didnt even say weather guarantees any number of hearts. Director backed this up and would not make opps reveal anything further. director said "he can't tell you something before his partner knows" Obviously director doesn't understand I don't want to know what hand type he has I want to know the 3 types he could have. Responder then went out of system and we never did find out possible hand types. Now I am assuming two of hand types were hearts or balanced. Opener had a Flannery type hand so 3rd type is probably both majors. Would that be so difficult to disclose. Playing Polish club 1♣ can be one of 4 or 5 possible hand types and is disclosed if asked. I see no difference in this situation.
  22. I thought this bug resolved. Does Gib really think it has power to make 4N on a spade lead?
  23. 3♦ is GF with 5+♦ Does Gib have anyway to find you have K♣ instead of K♥? I am not sure. What is troubling is Gib has 5 card♦ opposite an unlimited hand and has no interest in slam.
  24. With a human partner you did fine. This auction east needs a real stopper to bid 3N not a likely stopper or in Gibs case on these type of auctions an imaginary stopper. If you are bidding 3N on this hand you will require a 4-4 ♦ split by opponents and to pick up Q♣ . This assumes you have 2♦ which isn't even given. I don't know the odds but can't be great. East must bid 4♥ or 4/5♣ not 3NT
  25. Gib isn't programmed to handle this hand. Gib thinks it has a great hand and is willing to play in 3♠ opposite nothing where the opponents have at least 5 trumps and all the honour spots opposite a zero pt hand. Gib just doesn't have such a hand. To be fair if you do have serious heart or diamond length and the 6 points you have there could be a lot of tricks. I am not sure what I would bid with hand but I would know I dont have a great hand.
