  1. Yes. Is a bit of system problem. But I suspect if there is a way to bid this hand Gib would screw it up. Gib see no extra value in decent 8-card suits. However, Gib is willing to give full value to a void in a suit partner has bid even in NT.
  2. Gib also misdefended!! Person on lead has 2 aces including A♣ in your void. Is it that hard to find a trump lead which will beat this contract. A♦ lead is brutal! So your no worse than Gib. Not sure if that is a compliment? lol
  3. This hand isn't about your points or Gib points. It's about degree of fit mostly which is what 4♠ should be saying. Slam is also about controls and tricks. Pts is only a consideration when you have 33+ and not the TP Gib uses. K♦ by all right should be useless but you have A♦ which you should not have. So slam is almost good just need J♠ or someone with a 5th ♣. Gib counting it's points like the Walrus is not much better than a random number generator when it comes to bidding slams.
  4. Good point. People have gone away from 4C/4D Namyats as these bids too useful as natural. In 4th seat Namyats is a nice convention, but I fear my partners won't remember if only playing in 4th (or 3rd) In any case partner has passed making a 5-level contract seems unlikely. I have people stretch in 4th with 4M and not have as long trump suit as would expect and is holey. But you have enough defense you might beat (possibly for a lot) and bidding on could be a 1-800 toll free number. What partner could possible have for any sort of double as a passed hand is beyond me?
  5. I assume you meant the Generic Blank convention card. The ACBL blank card is a lot easier to fill out starting from scratch and more informative. If someone hasn't filled out a card ask them if they play SAYC. Playing anything else with a stranger will just be frustrating unless one of you has a convention card filled out. Then one of you can "use" the convention card with partner. Filling out a profile with conventions for me is a waste of time and i would go over BBO page limit.
  6. Yes, will i think EVERYONE is wrong to say see my profile. They should also be saying see my favourite convention card. I don't know how using your profile as a convention chart started but i don't get why using your favourite isn't being used. Using "favourite" would solve a lot of bidding convention problems. Did you know that you can ask your partner during play about conventions and change your CC during play? Lovera what is "GCC"?
  7. I don't think there is a "standard" agreement in this sequence. what works for you will depend on your system like; weak NT? minor promises 4+, 4, 3, 2 or lower, your style and some other things. I like 2N as either weak or Game force, jump shift in other minor XX=limit, 2M=constructive 8-10, with jump shifts as fit. Transfer responses also work well over 1 minor. eg. 1C-(1D)-XX=D, 1S=NT etc.
  8. I just posted something on this. BBO already has this feature but hardly anyone uses it and many long time users apparently <sarcasm> don't even know how.
  9. You misunderstand. I meant overcalling without showing your suits not randomly overcalling. Something like crash and suction.
  10. You have to schedule a whole bunch of team matches and do the paperwork for a tournament yourself with help from the team captains.
  11. Answer depends on jurisdiction. ACBL 1C if only short when 4=4=3=2 it is still considered natural. Under GCC rules you can use any defense you want against artificial bids, assigning any meaning to any bid. You probably aren;t allowed to do something completely destructive like bid 1S on any shape 0-9 points, but for all intensive purposes anything goes. In November the rules will be changing. Should be more liberal rules but will depend on which chart applies to your event.
  12. That isn't true. Gibs, bids often say penalty double. Certainly, it is usually very hard to determine if Gib has a penalty or just matched some bidding parameters that have nothing to do with setting the contract. Also, hard to do a double without knowing Gib will pull. Balancing, also is close to impossible with Gib, which I have more of a beef with. Even with human partners there is often disagreement of making and leaving in penalty double. However Gib carries this to the highest level of confusion.
  13. We play 2♦ opening as 18-19 balanced. So a natural jump to 2NT is no longer needed. So 1♦-1♠-2NT shows hand worth a jump to 3♦ also with 3♠
  14. You don't say if this is IMP or MP which makes all the difference on this hands bidding. sure they are good but. dont know you have clubs...not that Gib would properly evaluate if you could show clubs and trump Both sides have every reason to think they are beating 4H. At mp silly to bid 4S and go down when your beating 4H. At imps i think you have more to complain about.
  15. This is the bridge world hand of death. Either you have a bid that covers this exact hand or whatever you bid could turn out wrong.
  16. if your thinking of buying ask his site they answer promptly
  17. ***** Gib has a few times bid 3N with no stopper, worse was short in unbid suit. 5 minor is cold, 6 minor is good occasionally. Gib can never be counted on for stoppers!!!!
  18. BBO programmers have screwed up Gib. After takeout double it takes a miracle to show a 4-card major. Even with a major and no minor it cue bids.
