N+1th jump to 6 w/o RKC. Simulation based bids MUST stop
steve2005 replied to virgosrock's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
I see nothing wrong with checking for aces or keycards if simulation indicates slam likely. For many after 3N 4♣ would be Gerber But you can only find out if off 2 cards. This doesn't mean it is a good slam but checking seems sensible in most cases. There are of course exceptions where checking is wrong. Good luck programming rules for Gib. -
To not totally agree that missing slam is Gibs fault. South has 1st or second round control in all suits. North has shown an unlimited hand with 3D. Yes should be supporting clubs but... Shouldn't South's bid be 3H to show some slam interest??

[hv=pc=n&s=saq9632hdakt6cqj4&n=sj7ht92dq943ck632&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=pp1s2hp4h4sd(17+)p5hpp6sdppp]266|200[/hv] This bidding was repeated at 20+ tables in daylong mp tournament. This isn't my hand i am posting as saw happened to friend and wanted opinions. 4S showed 20 or so pts and sort of has this hand but has wholes. but are you gonna pass 4H? guess double more flexible. 6S showed 10 pts but why? N is balanced with 1 King you need controls to bid slam. Bidding 5S will be similar result but is 6S surreal or just point counting? West has KTxx spades and diamond void so people in 6SX had a bloodbath.

Getting subbed out - cannot see score after having rejoined.

all you have to do is wait till the next round all scores will be in view. or you can go threw each board and look at the hand. the results will now be displayed -
Not a double negative after 2C opening

that is with 2H as initial double neg then 2N shows Hearts -

Gib wants you to respond 2NT not 2D on this I think?! Which basically completely destroys auction for opener. Maybe I have wrong point count for 2N but any natural 2NT over 2C opening is just a bad idea. -
Read Matchpoints by Kit Woolsey it tells all you would want. Not sure how you get Gib to read it and use it? :)

Discrimination in bridge
steve2005 replied to roni57's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Welcome. Not showing your 1500 pages of system notes is not the same as having secret agreement, For most methods I would not want to use defense designed by the opponents. -
Irrelevant that pd invites 2NT in opps suit and you have void
steve2005 replied to virgosrock's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Gib counts points doesn't check if these are useful points unless you count simulations. -
. The Regulating Authority may specify an order (e.g. “from the top down”) in which the Director shall deem a suit played if this was not clarified in the statement of claim (but always subject to any other requirement of this Law).
-
If disclosed. Then it is just an extra thing for declarer to think about so they might make a mistake on carding or elsewhere. This does not seem to be any advantage from a bridge standpoint. Method is trying to gain an advantage just by confusing or outright deceiving if opps didn't ask. I have never asked opponents are you playing encrypted signals.
-
restricted choice still applies if you know other info. Of course it will affect the odds though.

Is something "off" with the robot's bidding?
steve2005 replied to frankie156's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
20+ pts is included in 13+. Gib had 7 and showed 9-11. Your lucky is close. May be counting something you don't realize. -
So you ask opps what 2♠ means? They say it shows spade if board 1 was a plus and shows hearts if board 1 was a minus. Just kick them out of the tournament.
-
What choice your are not allowed to finesse if not stated in claim? They are loosing Q in the case Qxx. According to original poster all their other cards are good, so -1 if Qxx. Q or Qx make.
-
Wow, well you know what we call that around here!.
-
Gib has a choice of taking two finesses of Kings or Queens for examples. Gib choices one and finesses and it works. When Gib plays next it decides again which finesse to take. Yes, opps could be holding up and I'm sure some hands right to finesse other suit but goodness it worked do it again
-
When asked you would still have to describe truthfully what bid meant. Opps know what happened on previous board also. So I see no point in this method that isn't nefarious to say the least. Board rules prevent me from saying what I really think <sarcasm maybe>

deleted-realized had wrong case

Weak hand asks KCm then can;t signoff in 5N
steve2005 replied to steve2005's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Just a reminder this is just declarer so it is 2 Gibs doing the bidding. (not me) My question how can a hand as weak as North's justifying KC no matter what South has shown? -
6C-1 Can someone explain why the weak hand is using KC. just show a control. Oh needs a 1st rd control to show, but is so week uses KC instead. what baloney. Anyone have a better explanation? This from just declare so everyone in hopeless contract.

Is the death penalty still in force? <sarcasm>

Why ask for key cards when can jump to 6 unilaterally
steve2005 replied to virgosrock's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Texas is so stupid. it was just a transfer to 6♠ What if west has 4♥ wouldn't there be some interest in 6♥ but for goodness sake lets add RKC as a convention in next Gib downgrade <sarcasm> -
GUBBO AmGors when senses stiff, has stiff
steve2005 replied to virgosrock's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Programmers working hard on implementation. Hang in there John :) -
Surely you have majors suit aces and stoppers in minors! Not sure which Gib you think is silly. Looks like South.
