  1. It's not unplayable. It's a penalty double. Not uncommon after a NT bid. If partner has this hand you will kill 2♥.Takeout is more flexible. Plus Gib would pull the penalty when it's right and leave it when it's wrong! The problem is Gib bid 2N without a stopper. Probably because the 3-bids are defined as weak and Gib has the points to invite. Maybe a double Gib should be defined as takeout and is also defined as penalty.
  2. http://www.bridgewithdan.com/systems/IMprecision.pdf doesn't use 2N in users post, could be older version. Could google for other versions
  3. 4♣ as controls asking bids for holding in clubs. Usually has a trump fit but not totally guaranteed. Blasting has its advantage as this bid will tell opps what to lead if you have losers,
  4. Well he can't concede tricks it's impossible for him to lose. So, unless there is some reasonable way for him to not take the tricks i think he gets them.
  5. Yes, you only balance with 20 pts. Some of Gib's methods are unplayable.
  6. With this hand Gib should pattern out. Better players might even suggest an even better bid. But with 5512 and minimum why should Gib not pass. 3N will often be off and 4H makes.
  7. If Gib played euchre it wouldn't pick up a bower. Here i have sympathy for Gib, you never gave Gib a chance to pattern out. 2N instead of 3N finds heart fit. Also, do you really want to play 3N if Gib doesn't have a ♦ stopper with a marked ♦ lead. But is true Gib has good 4-loser hand should be thinking slam.
  8. There is definitely a problem with Gib responding to a takeout double. I had a hand where i made a takeout double. Gib had a 4 card major with enough values to jump. It cuebid. So i had to guess what to bid next. Gib was a passed hand so it wasn't huge. Simple jumping in its 4 card major would have shown it's whole hand. There are numerous hands where you have to beg to find out that Gib has a 4-card major.
  9. Is true often failure to alert. also true some people ignore or refuse to answer. Had someone who should be experienced say they dont have to tell us what their hand is. This true but they still have to explain what bid means. But a failure to alert does not necessarily result in a penalty. There has to be damage too. Repeated failures could be penalized but is this tracked?
  10. This is slightly different situation. But there have been recent posts where one Gib has bid both majors and clearly other Gib should put in 1st but passes. BBO lookin in to.
  11. Hand 1 proves Gib has no clue what a penalty doubles is or whatever double it has made. So Gib has 5 pts (which it doesn't but so what). Gib doesn't need pts to double at the 5 level it needs tricks of which it has none. Gib also has 3 spade support if it were to make a stupid bid it should be 5S. Anyways partner has a big hand let them decide.
  12. south has 5♥ doubling is bizarre. 5♥ before X.
  13. td would never remove you from tournament for this. If you were removed you would get a message from td. Did you get a message? more likely someone slow at table and td for some reason thought it was you.
  14. A lot of people ask their questions after bidding has ended and before they lead. Never hear anyone complain anymore than they do about any question which does happen. Or if not on lead hopefully partner puts card face down and then ask. Facedown leads are the rule but I don't think there is a penalty for not doing so other than losing rights for your side. Canada.
  15. gee gib makes an inv 2H could slam/game try how can it even be passed
  16. West hand isn't worth a reverse unless East has 5♠ . I would raise to 2♠ if this is passed will be best spot.
  17. Nice. At MP i will take the laydown 7♥ and use my saved energy on another hand.
  18. if they invite you to join a table or be a partner in a tournament at that point you can see.
  19. If someone invites you I believe you see their rate.
  20. Gib counts singletons fully in this type of situation I believe.
  21. Why would this need to come up more than once to be fixed? Oh right what was it 1,000 times Gib doesn't cash A on lead against 7NX to be fixed?
  22. This isn't chess where if you touch a piece you have to move it. What you did causes problems but you don't have to make a call other than pass.
  23. So if the jump showed 3 trump would it be alertable?
  24. Why would a jump showing 4 trump be alertable? This would be completely expected, If you jumped on 3 trump that would be unexpected and alertable.
