  1. There is a big difference between a short club or short diamond that promises 2+ and one that promises 0+. If 2+ you don't really need to change your system. Sure over 1D can use 2D natural 2H NF mich and 3D strong Mich and something similar if you want 2C cuebid to be natural.
  2. I agree intermediate js are an improvement. Been trying to convince partners one by one of this is hard. Everyone has fallen in love with Bergen so use 3m for that, which is anther story!
  3. What's the bug? Looks more like Gib can't evaluate it's hand.
  4. An overcall on a 4 card major with sort of hand (heart vales and good in a 4-3) are advocated in Lawrence's complete overcall. other do to. Bunch of unlucky things. Your club shortage opposite partners length and Gib raising on nothing.
  5. You deserved to get a minus. Passing gets a plus.
  6. Never liked this idea. Very little clue what you need.
  7. Gibs hand unsuitable for a jump shift. Really shouldn't be a 4-4 heart fit to miss. Apparently you showed a little extra. Traditional you would make you normal bid 1 level higher so 3NT. The whole auction is a mess anyways.
  8. Is stuck systematically. West can have 23-24 pts so on 10 needs to invite. Problem is 3N is defined so widely.
  9. http://www.bridgebase.com/ must have Adobe flash allowed.
  10. Is this called bridge? Numerous times you can open 2C so your usually the captain. At it's next turn Gib jumps to slam. Is it a good slam? Who knows? Is 7 there? Who knows?
  11. I think he want to know odds of making 3N. Who would care of odds of weak hand playing it which has to be pretty small unless NT is your negative response.
  12. Making 3N might have a play for 6C do some exploring. Two possible standard meanings for 3H is a really good hand or good hand 5S and 5 minor.
  13. i accept. only real negative to this hand is it's aceless. surely partner has some aces to go with your kings so no big deal.
  14. what so impossible about bidding south take a shot a 3N based on tricks and a spade stopper. should have KD otherwise is normal. What's to simulate? partner might have Q♣ let them in to lead spades. When QC hold you know partner has KC and it's -5. Playing smith echo or any sort of suit preference you wouldn't have to rely on opponent's bidding for your defense.
  15. There are times when sensible bidding with Gib is just impossible. Gib has huge spade support, why is doing anything but raising spades unless 4D is forcing. So 4♦ has to be forcing and description seems to indicate it is unlimited and big diamond suit. Can you be blamed showing trump support with a singleton. Maybe, but there are so many cases where the obvious bid shows a big hand if this isn't the right example.
  16. Build your our webpage. Almost nobody else will want this.
  17. Nonsense. Gib is a non standard 2/1 version which is a problem not because it is bad but because people don't know it. Also, Gib program has a problem as it doesn't follow it's system and make the standard bids. I submit that you could program any system including a system with almost no conventions and it would be trivial to get the program to bid well with no competition. It is in competition that programing becomes incredibly difficult. One of Gib solution to competition is to make balancing which humans might make on 13 cards show a slam try and is just ludicrous!
  18. like he said dont forget the ridiculous defenses where Gib throws away high cards that could be useful Gib doesn't make leads the way the commercial program does. Something has been screwed up in the current program possibly even messing up Gibs calculation of best move from sampling. Certainly it can't even cash out for -1 sometimes, there has to be a bug in the sampling program!
  19. What program are you using for convention card? Safety tip: saving is allowed before you have spent an hour of time on your work.
  20. I still think Gib is counting full value for shortages, even in partners/opponent sitting across the table suit like here.
  21. 2H isn't ludicrous it's partner's double that is ludicrous. South should have an unbalanced hand not 5332 even if 5H. South's 2H is palatable opposite a hand with ruffs.
  22. I would agree that being aggressive pays off in the long turn. People have figured out to be aggressive over 1C strong openings. Not everyone has figured that artificial strong 2C bids are vulnerable. You just have to be a little more cautious. After artificial 1C or 2C it is often hard to know to stop and double opps or bid your contract. Often you only get one chance.
  23. Doesn't matter if it makes or not you want to be there. There is a 4-1 trump break. how is it on a 3-2? My partner last night passed a forcing bid as he didn't like his hand. He had ATxx Tx Jx AKxxx.. Not a maximum Precision 2♣ but i like it better than a lot of maximums when I force in hearts. I made 4H luckily but field went down in 4H. It takes good defense to beat. 10 minutes later i figured out how to make 4 after any lead but spades. But partner thought I was crazy complaining about passing a forcing bid as 3♥ even without the overtrick is a top. Well sorry I want Gib to bid game on this hand or at least invite.
  24. For a Walrus like Gib, pass is unbelievable.
  25. If you bid 2♣ or strong jump shift 3♣ partner will rebid hearts. You can then use 4NT keycard to find 2KC and Q♥. This allows you to count 13 tricks and bid 7NT.
