  1. Even opposite a constructive raise, which 2♥s may not be (unless you have an agreement in place), I would expect to make 3 with 4 to be just under the odds. Consequently I would pass.
  2. In this particular auction 3♥ has demanded that cue bidding start. For me that is any non trump singleton, A, or K (edit: and of course a void). Consequently 4♥ denies any of those and 4NT is arguably best used as a queen ask of some sort or possibly to show a doubleton. Alternatively if you would prefer to qbid only first round controls then 4NT should revert to a K or possibly a singleton ask.
  3. bad luck mostly for the table that bid 3NT
  4. Not pass; it looks like it is pretty much a guess as partner with an apparently club void could not act over 3♣. Still he should not need a lot for 5♥ to make and 5♣ may not go down a lot so my preferences are 5♥>X>>>>pass
  5. 1) yes but pray 2) No, he misevaluated his hand! He has an A in the black suits and 5HCP in the suits where his partner has long suits and he knows the partnership has a 10 card ♦fit. He needs to tell his partner to play ♦
  6. look over to the right I just voted on your post :) except you have to look at your post not my reply :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------>>>
  7. I was wondering why the hell the suit fonts are so small that I can't tell the difference between a ♠ and a ♣. They didn't even use different colors. Anyway after rethinking the bidding and correcting(in my mind) opener's 1♠ call to 1♣ I would call 3♣ leaving the opps to guess what to do at the 3 level
  8. 3♠ - shortage for a ♥ slam 3NT - hard ♠ control (A or K) for a ♥ slam 4♣ - hard ♣ control; with partner having so much in ♣ shortage is pretty awful - no ♠ control for a ♥ slam but ♣ slam is possible 4♦ - no ♠ or ♣ control but hard ♦ control for a ♥ slam
  9. you missed your chance to call 3♥ now your choices are pass and 4♥ - go with aggression :)
  10. This is probably your best choice. Next would be 2♥. 2♠ is just insane IMO as it shows much more values than I hold. Finally you could push the "undo" button and if the opps agree change your call to 1♦ which will allow you to make a 2♣ call :)
  11. There are two suits you can misplay one mostly just bad luck the other just bad play. There are 2 ways to play the ♥ suit but the difference between is negligible but for ease of hand flow I would lead the A♥ and another rather than try to double finesse the KJ. The ♣ suit is another matter you can handle 4-0 with rho having 4 but are screwed if LHO has 4 but you have to lead to the A first. Leading the K or Q is just careless. On a good day you will catch RHO with the singleton ♥K and LHO with 4♣
  12. I find it really interesting how everyone is ignorring one of the critical issues with weak 2's - What are the colors? If you make the same call all white as you do red vs white I'd have to question your understanding of the scoring.
  13. abstain I would already have bitten the dust with a michaels call :)
  14. 1) A♣... Hard to imagine north and east with 10♥ but my ♥ & ♣ holdings make a trump lead look ugly besides being hard to lead a trump anyway. 2) No raise keeps me away from a ♦ lead so ♠J
  15. to find a new partner ASAP? :)
  16. overcall 1♠ by South and make a 4 card limit raise by North
  17. That would imply it was a one time event. It is not.
  18. and I was hoping it was a splinter for 2 suits :)
  19. This should be logically deducible. You don't need an even lighter opening call in 3rd and 4th seat. Your bidding efforts should be limited to getting a positive score otherwise there is no point in opening. Consequently passed hands in first and second seat don't need to use Drury they already know you have full values or you would have passed.
  20. not sure if this is an acceptable place to report a bug. But I did notice I could start typing text in the fast response area but as soon as I hit one of the suit buttons (had to be initial hit) it wiped out all the text I had typed. Anybody else?
  21. I am objecting to the assumption that any random expert should be expected to use drury. As far as the hand goes, IMO not making a 4 card limit raise is just asking for trouble.
  22. yes he actually misplayed the hand while railing against being doubled :) and he was close hearts were 3-1 and spades 7-1 which should leave you wondering why the hell didn't the opps sacrifice in 7♣ and I think the mindless Lightner may have led them astray :)
  23. I suspect you would need to run a poll before you make any blanket statement about using drury. Lite openers don't need Drury because they already opened the hand in first or second seat. Consequently 3rd and 4th seat openers need FULL normal opening values.
  24. q1) you are pretty much system screwed as far as reaching a ♥ contract. q2) given that when S plays AKx♣ you then have 8 tricks and can execute a fairly straightfoward strip by cashing the 6♠ tricks
  25. Likewise he shouldn't drag you at these colors to a 4 level contract where you feel like you just dialed Pennsylvania 6 five thousand.
