I don't know how any other conventions handle this but I try 4♠ hopefully partner is a believer that a 1NT call should have at least 2♠

Partner hit me big-time. Now what?
pooltuna replied to Double !'s topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
I have a lot sympathy for your call but think you need to cut partner a tiny bit of slack and give him an out if he opened a truly ugly hand so 4♣ for me -
I don't see 3 passes after the 3♦ call so am assuming the auction died there. I would have preferred an X of 1NT to 2♠ but having gotten a 2NT response I wouldn't push my luck and would just raise to 3NT
-
try rebidding 2NT
-
one of the purposes of the penalty X is to keep opps from getting too frisky. If you make it easy to steal from you they will. They will use the preemptive value of 1NT against you since they can do so at little risk.
-
As ten tricks are easier than eleven I would try 2♥ over 1♠ now I can pass 2♠ or try 3♦. A pretty close choice depending on colours and scoring.
-
North will declare NT; south will declare hearts. What kind of agreement beyond placing the contract in 6H or 6N are you looking for? lol dude. get with it looks like the ♠♦ strip is the only workable play unless by eyes deceive me (which easily could be likely)
-
First the why...you have a 4th ♥, only a wasted J♦ in values, the ♠K in his other suit and the ♣A in his probable longest minor (2 cards I would expect). Now the answer ... if you got the tool use it...4♣
-
hmmm pick the least ugly call. Well I will try X maybe partner can pass. I clearly have much better options after partner calls 3♦ or 3♥(fat chance  ). Over 3♠ I can try 3NT. Over 4♣/4♥ I will try 6/7 ♥. Over 4♦ I will try 6/7♦ and finally over 4♠ I will shudder.

this looks like a take the money in hand hand
-
1) This looks like shooting for a very small target but I would try - 4♣ 2)I think I have the values for a 4♠ raise but not the distribution so 3♠
-
result stands ...Pass by the ♠ holder is not a logical alternative. :)

I suspect in vugraph the operator has to create names for each player while at any non-vugraph table an actual player has to login and that allows the system to give you their information.

Yes! This german Hi Tech resolve all your snow problems :) http://www.onlineversand-24.de/u/1628291486_zz_SnowWolf1.jpg you already took off the training wheels?

in spite of all the naysayers who have gone before me, I feel either you don't open the hand or you protect on this auction and IMO it is practically foisted on you. There are too many hands where partner could not make a negative X over 2♣ or holds a penalty pass of 2♣. It just feels too anti-partnership to pass. I thought you played penalty doubles. I also play penalty passes :)

for me this seems like a pretty clear choice. As it a) does not blow the suit straight away and b.) really works well when partner holds A, K or T for a hefty min of 70% EDIT after seeing the OPs additional post: Oh I see! I didn't know we were supposed to pillory your partner for what looks like the %age lead to me :) RESULTER ALERT! No, I posted it precisely because it is the normal lead from that suit combination, but I don't think it's right on this particular hand. I think it's quite close as to whether to lead a diamond or a heart. Partner will have assessed before leaving the double in (presuming he has a minimum opening bid) that he reckons he's beating this on a diamond lead as that's what you're most likely to lead, and the system considerations mean he's 90%+ likely to hold 5+ diamonds and an unbalanced hand. If you lead the Q♥, you would be desperately unlucky to butcher the hand (stiff K is the holding that's a complete disaster), if partner has Kx you may be OK as it looks like you have 2 spade entries, and it doesn't look like spades will be declarer's first choice of suit to play). Small heart can butcher the hand in 2 ways. Declarer can have AK10, or more of a problem, declarer has AKx(x) and dummy has the 10 where you cough up a trick, a tempo and a dummy entry, and that's too much to risk IMO. so you need a simulation on this hand to see what the %age lead is? But that's not what you asked for. So can someone please do a sim with constraints that opener's hand is either a balanced 15-17 or an unbalanced hand with a minimal opener but no 5 card or longer major? Also that RHO has a strong NT with at least 1 ♦ stopper

you mean they don't have a Bedlam Bridge Club Forum

Redoubled contracts are fun?
pooltuna replied to Nilz's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Mandatory? I am guessing you only have experience of a strong NT. I would suggest to you that the vast majority of weak and mini NTers play XX here in some conventional way. Some play it as any 1-suiter, some as clubs, some as a weak 4333 hand. But very very few play it as business. Well, he said "over artificial X of 1NT". Typically if you are playing a weak NT your opponent's double is not artificial. that doesn't mean rewind can't be business -

Second question would be is the double of an overcalled 1♣ call for penalties :)

Double and try to beat it

neither pass nor bid DOUBLE!....it is MP right? ;)
