  1. Yet another advertisement for better minor? ;)
  2. Is this an advertisement for better minor? :)
  3. The other positives for 1♠; a.) partner gets a better valuation on the ♠K if he has it and tends to devalue a singleton ♠ as probable wastage b.) if 2♥ over 2♣ is ambiguous it is less so over 1♠
  4. well my inclination is to win the J and fire back a trump to reduce ♦ ruff's in declarer's hand. With my usual luck when I lead a ♣ declarer discards <_<
  5. Well I assume you have specific examples where I called for a penalty X on these. If so I erred on the first one (1m-p-1H-(2S)) where with a trump stack I can pass and expect partnership protection. On the second one I would guess you pass up this free shot at the opponents as they will not be in game unless they can find an XX but I won't! <_<
  6. The trouble is that too many people believe penalty doubles never apply.
  7. HEY!!! THIS IS BBF! DBL FOR PENALTY IS FORBIDDEN AND MUST BE TAKEOUT <_< besides you never, ever hold 4 of the opps trumps including the AQT :) You overstate things. In a simulation opposite a 12-14 hcp 1NT and with your RHO opponent having five spades and 11-15 hcp or perhaps a little less strength with six spades ... 1087 times out of 1000000 you had ♠AQTx. Actually I was generous to you and counted hands where the x was the jack or king and hands where you had five or more spades. I am sure that there are much more frequent uses for double, the most economical positive call, that would prove much more useful than a penalty double in this auction. if you have no easy way to penalize the opponents you are inviting them to steal from you and they will.
  8. lol, I can't wait for you to come and share with us why we are all so wrong any action is nearly never wrong just anti percentage <_<

  10. well I don't know about anyone else but that is a BINGO for me :P
  11. payoff to anyone who has 4♦ to the QJ. i.e. bang down AK♦ and probably another
  12. I take it you are 100% sure that 3NT will take 9 tricks then? :)
  13. if 3NT has play how do you think 2♠X was going to do?
  14. X is not only WTP but it is mandatory to protect your partner all other choices get negative valuations and X=10000000000 on a ten point scale :P
  15. what is your objection to 3♠? Clearly assuming you don't play it as preemptive which really doesn't make sense anyway since you are a passed hand.
  16. Find a new partner you'll need one as your partner will hopefully RIP. Hope you are not the one accused of his murder :)
  17. it beats trying to figure out what you would do if your RHO opened 3♥ :)
  18. because it is not a listed option and why "other" probably has 6 votes
  19. accept the transfer quickly and perhaps they'll go to 5♠ :( Transfer where Toona? somehow my answer to this disappeared....anyway I was calling the opps 4♠ call a transfer to 5♥
  20. How often did you have 2 suits and want to bid, say, spades then clubs? How often did you have a hand with 5 spades that might make slam only in spades/notrump? How often that you bid a non forcing 3♠ down 1 did they double you for 200? How often that you bid a non forcing 3♠ did they push to 4♦ and make it anyway? How often would rightsiding through transfers have saved a game swing? It's not that your sim isn't perfect, it's that it answers very few of the important questions. Giving up 3-level partscore tries for a forcing 3-level call is probably a very good tradeoff. That probably won't save you on this auction though. As soon as you alert your 3♠ call as forcing your LHO will bid 5♦. Of course now when partner bids 5♠ you'll have an even better excuse to bid 6 or really push the opponent's buttons with a 6♦ call. :)
  21. This in particular applies to the ultra-moysian fit (4-two) where it is the only making game avaible. Normally you hold the AKQ of trumps with a good side suit and need a 4-3 trump split.
  22. yes try for your ♥ ruff or partner to have the K
  23. Just think - we could have avoided all this simply by clubbing together to buy him a new keyboard. as you live closest to him why don't you chunnel one over to him and try not to break it when you hit him on the head with it :)
  24. accept the transfer quickly and perhaps they'll go to 5♠ :)
