By agreement with my favorite partner (RIP) the opener should have used the "convention with no name." With the number of GF support showing hands that exist we need some differentiation. So to expect a stronger hand for a 4♦ bid seems unreasonable to me.
hardly random, guess I required too much foresight, nonetheless I do not think the hand is worth an upgrade change the hand to [hv=s=s43ha83daqt9cat95]133|100|[/hv] and I might upgrade :P EDIT: this was initially in response to Andy
EDIT: oops thought your partner bid 3♦ as a passed hand 3 ♥ would be acceptable a Neg X will allow partner to get to 3NT as he will know you rate to have ♥ and ♣ stoppers
my initial gut reaction was XX has to be right but on further reflection it looks like we may be pushing them into finding a fit especially if we end up with a double fit ourselves and pointy suits have a competitive advantage over roundy suits
I am systemically screwed by this hand so have to choose between 3♦ and 3♣ I would probably elect 3♦ I understand you use 2C as a gadget, but can't this hand be incorporated into it as a possibility? The problem I have is I use 1♦ ...2♣ rebid with all minimal xy45 and xy54 hands
Is he still bachelor? I was following him the entire second session. Definitely ranks up there as one of the better-looking bridge players, along with the pair I was following the first day, too. Maybe he is Islamic and has 2 slots open.
