Not sure if I took this the right way but FWIW the last time I took a legit IQ test it was 156. There are obviously many people with higher IQs than me but I would say I am above the genius level lol. It is amusing to me that so many people think they know anything about me. oh so those of us who thought you were a rocket scientist were right :P
Nevertheless we hold 7HCP in the other 3 non-♣ suits and partner has ignored our signoff so we need to think dummy reversal. Partner has at least 5♦ so we should be able to establish them. 6♥ probably isn't going overboard and in fact 7 could be makeable.
I suspect that with the skill level so high that it magnifies the luck factor as well. For example your simple error occurs at a critical point while theirs doesn't. Or you are seated in such a way that a particular hand is suited perfectly for their system but yours has a pinhole for the hand. While you would expect these to balance out they don't in a "short run." IIRC even the craps tables in your city of residence experience a losing day about 1 in 7. That is why the organizers try for longer matches to reduce the MOE.
Good bridge players are abstractly suspicious of their opponent's actions. Also the ARCH acronym has been ground into them so much that it is second nature.
I think 2♠ is your best choice because a) with 3541 your partner may be able to make a game try :) with a 7 card fit (4-3♦ or 6-1♠) the hand will play better with the longer suit holding as well as the weaker hand c) partner is more likely to hold x54y than x55y and 0544 is much more unlikely since partner might have called 2♣. I think this "logic :) " would apply to either MP or IMPS. For MP a 6x4y might be tougher to choose.
IMO anything but pass is like looking for a strange dog to walk behind (hope you have an old newspaper or a hose handy for your shoes). Almost certainly partner has short ♥ and chose to overcall 2♣ rather than make a TOX
if 2♦ is forcing, systemically what does 3♦ show? And if the answer is "stronger than 2♦" , what do you want for your last meal and do you want a blindfold for the firing squad?
Generally I think South gets most of the blame depending on what the 14th card is. 3♠ is the wrong call as you don't have the high cards to make it. The correct call is either 4♠ (has 7) or 2♠(has 6). I could tolerate 3♣ (6214) if it doesn't show extras. And the 6♠ call is just off the chart. If you make that bid and go down you have apologize immediately, perhaps "sp, took a flyer and forgot my wings were in the shop" :)
