  1. click and drag like you are high lighting the area.
  2. Definitely a 1♦ opener with a NT rebid ;)
  3. why more? given your holding you are expecting 1 loser opposite a void RHO is less likely to balance with hearts like Qxx and more likely to balance with shortness. So the odds have gone up that LHO has long hearts. That still doesn't necessarily translate into more losers
  4. The upside is that 1♠X is a whole lot better option than you think it is. "It is a fact that most people here write as if their opinion is a dogmatic fact." - Codo :)

  6. Way to be a good employee, Roland, this is lock step with Fred's choice not to pass with strong hands in direct seat :) BTW I agree with your choices :)
  7. Tony, In his defense, he never said they left the table just that one of the poll choices would be to leave the table. Of course that implies that he would find that an acceptable action even though he did not say that.
  8. It is a WTP hand because what realistic options do you have other than 4♥? 5♣? 5♦? Now 5♥ may be a viable option, perhaps that is what you meant.
  9. Nothing justifies #5 IMO. FINISH THE HAND!!! If you are still unhappy just says thanks and leave. Make notes if you don't want to play again with anyone. Edit: and I agree with Tony about team games and tourneys
  10. I would assign all the blame to Foghorn J. Leghorn who clearly was sitting South
  11. so I guess 1m-1M-4M hands are reserved for something like ♠y ♥AQ92 ♦AQ9753 ♣z where y & z are either {0,3} or {1,2}?
  12. assuming you play 4 suit transfers and partner bids 2NT as a transfer to ♦ are you going to break the transfer with Kx♦?
  13. I fail to see how it has anything to do with the hand. North has easy 1♥ response after which you are cruising to the best spot which is 4♥. The only person to blame here is N, he just made weak bid. Nothing to do which the system played. Nothing to do with this hand, but swap the ♠ 7 and Q and see the difference in final contract between 1♣ and 1♥ opening bids. I hate opening 1♣ when I am 4234 and hold [hv=s=sakj6hajdaq6c8742]133|100|[/hv] Why ? if you open 1♠ (as many people in the UK do) the auction usually goes 1♠-1N-3N and you've wrongsided it. It's only bad if partner passes 1♣ with very short clubs (which is why we respond light with short clubs and only rebid 1N on the 19 count given). because I play a first and second seat 5 card major system and open this hand 1♦ and 1♠ in 3rd and 4th seat :)
  14. If I read the post right, he didn't want to invite. :)

  16. This hand proves exactly nothing. If partner with a 15-17 NT invites you via 2 NT you simply accept. What part of "which contract would be at risk opposite a minimum end of the wide range 1N response" did you miss? [snip] Having read posts from both of you I think you both agree that opening a 15-17 1NT with a 5 card major is a better than opening 1 of the major. If that is not the case please clearly state that you open 1 of the major or that your 1NT opening cannot have a 5 card major. I am of the opinion that the 1NT opening call generally makes life much easier for your partner when he holds the average 9,10,11 hcp hand even if I have a 5 card major.
  17. oppsite such a hand, game is probably at best about 70%. obviously one would want to bid 70% games, but missing a few of them isn't going to be panic me into dispensing with the rest of my system and its benefits. So how are you using a direct 3♦ bid over 1NT?
  18. for me it is understrength. While I play 1NT as 15-17 I play a NT overcall as slightly stronger a good 16 to 18.
  19. yes take a shot partners don't jump in their suits with peanuts especially if you have a big filler card like the K plus either major could break evenly if it is wide open
  20. I going to take a blind guess here that you think the TOXer is your partner.
  21. The same way putting down the suit that is led last, thereby forcing partner to at least consider how he will play the first 3 suits :D
  22. Good agreements. What do you agree, to never hold a 23 count? What's funny is how much of a hurry so many of the passers are to bid 3NT over partner's ROX
  23. quick... hurry ... EyeMasters is having a sale :D
  24. But how do you do that. I know you didn't vote for the last choice so you must be expecting partner to break the transfer but will he with just Kx♦? If partner says she has a bad hand for diamonds, I'm happy to play 3D. Are you then saying that ♦Kx in a 1NT opener is in of itself satisfactory for only playing 3♦?
  25. I roll with Roland on this one :) And did you two Pool your thoughts? I was just in Roland's school :)
