  2. You don't have to leave the table when you want to have a look at the tourneys table list. Open the TD tab on the right side. You will see one line for your running tourney with the tabs: #/Title/Status/Action At the very right end below action there is a very small arrow (v) to the bottom . When you click there you will get a drop down menu with some useful actions. One of the actions is <Show Tables>. When you select it while you are already kibbing at a table, a window opens. You can resize that window and put it somewhere where it does not hurt too much. In case you want to leave a table but want to go back for some reason later, just open the profile of one of the players before you leave and "pin" it. When you want to go back, you can just press <Join table> in the profile.
  3. For me space is really a matter, as I mostly play on a small laptop and eyes are getting worse. The smaller the playing area gets the more tiresome it is. Avoid any space consuming elements like thick bars or buttons in the top that could be placed elsewhere. When BBO gets more and more a place to play with robots and not to meet or find human partners for a friendly play I don't think it is a good thing to happen. In my personal priority list everything that makes it easier to find suitable players is welcome. Showing the friends list on first view would be one of my wishes. Filter possibilities for nationality, skill level with all its pain, similar completion rate (+/-10 %) and last but not least system key words would be very welcome. For table lists and finding a partner for casual game or tourney everywhere welcome. I guess BBO should have data on how players use the newsfeed. My experience is that I don't need much of it. Mainly the important BBO announcements are of interest. I have seen little from followers/friends that I found useful. With a split screen on the right side it should be possible to have both, friends and news feed. Customizable would be very much appreciated. As TD I prefer the possibility to login with two different usernames at the same time. I hope very much that this will be possible with HTML5 as well. Last but not least get rid of that completely unnecessary noise when cards are played. I want to have sound to catch my attention when needed and not to be spammed. And for all those that still prefer the client solution. You are missing a real lot of good stuff in the web version. I wonder what others appreciate, for me the categories is one of the most useful tools BBO applied.
  4. Thanks I nearly always use the browser version though I am still annoyed by that terrible noise when cards are played and I am not happy to see the news feed instead of my friends list and I am not able to adapt the screen in the way I would like to ... But I really understand that resources are limited and I am willing to fund BBO via robot tourneys. BTW when I am in a hotel with a really bad internet I sometimes switched to the old download. That might be very slow at the login process but more reliable when you made it in. I am lucky I did not have to do that for quite a while. Wifi in hotels is getting better here around. The problem I tried to describe is independent from the access I use. Disconnections might happen if a mobile connection is used or if in a hotel with bad wifi or maybe because one of the ads is spamming the computer or maybe it is just a user fault. Whenever that happens and the teacher is disconnected, the table will be closed and the hands are lost. And I can tell you it happens. For teaching and practicing purposes it would be an improvement to have the boards of teaching and bidding tables saved somewhere.
  5. Good news! When teachers and players are able to download and upload hands it would be possible to build up a library for hands. That would be a great thing to have for both learning and teaching. Especially when your web is not as reliable as you would like it to be you are facing problems. For example there are sessions held by the German DBV but some of the teachers have frequently disconnections. This means you cannot save the hands as they disappear. When you yourself have a bad conn every time you are disconnected the chat is gone too.
  6. When you are kibbing or playing at a table you can get a list of tables by 1) BBO Now 2) List of tables 3) Select Main hall/tourneys/... It is not very comfortable but it works
  7. Setup of tournaments with uploaded player lists will no longer work. That is a problem especially for clubs. The black and white lists in the web version cant be used as substitute. Download of hands for teaching/training purpose still not working. It must be possible to export them as file.
  8. Matching by MCR would be another way to reduce a lot of pain for a big number of players. Individual search terms might be useful (SAYC, precision, udca, ...) I am not sure if it is the best way to match players of same playing skill. That might be nice for experts but annoying for beginners. EDIT:
  9. Normally I am not playing in main hall as I found it to be an unpleasant place when not playing with friends. Not only that you might face many ways of harassment I found it difficult to make players come to take a seat that will stay for more than 5 minutes and it seemed normal to be rejected when trying to take a seat at restricted tables. Some years ago I created a non female account mainly to avoid sexual harassment when playing but now I wondered if you might be right that gender has more than one impact. So I just gave it a try with my male account and indeed the main hall atmosphere changed which of course could be just random for this session. When trying to find a seat at one of the restricted tables it needed only 4 tries. I met only one "id iot" playing destructive and running after. When a seat was empty we did not have to wait for ever until someone acceptable came to take it. No derogative behaviour when I made a mistake and surely no sexual comments at all.
  10. Just curious what this couple of other things might be
  11. It was in context to your proposal to remove the chat functionality. I don't think that is a good idea as the chat functionality is necessary. Concerning the cheats players can hardly do more but report it to abuse. I doubt that is enough to make BBO a place where cheating will be significantly reduced.
  12. Hosts and tourney directors must be able to communicate to players during the match when there is a TD call.
  13. Sure you might be right that a TD/host did a poor job, but please keep in mind that this is not the only possible reason for this kind of accident. TDs can and do replace disconnected players. Most of them don't do it instantly. Especially when a player is dummy there is no need for any hurry. My experience as TD is that some partners of disconnected players are much faster in subbing than TDs. Keep in mind that there are still a lot of players using the old download software where this is possible. I handle quite a lot of complaints due to "partnership" replacements. Once the replacement process is started, the TD has no possibility to stop it. When the sub accepts the invitation the player will be replaced. It would be an improvement when all open requests would not automatically be executed when a player reconnects.

  15. Play dice? Maybe BBO better does not call it tournament where rules require that players have to play the majority of the boards to make the results comparable. And maybe BBO should explain the rules to those who register.
  16. I once found a robot stuck in a tourney when I returned after a break. I made my bid and the GIB did not wake up. Logging out did not help.
  17. I guess there is a bug in chat when playing a tourney. When addressing a message to both opponents it seems only be sent to one of them. At least I had only one message shown in my chat window.
  18. tournaments: Competitive -> tournaments Bridge Movies: Practice -> Bridge Movies
  19. Have a look in the drop down menu of "My BBO" in the upper screen. There you find your hands and results
  20. After clearing the cache I had no more problems with a played trick being skipped.
  21. I still have the problem. Trick is skipped after short delay when I won the trick. Same problem in Challenge
  22. thanks 1) works perfect :) 2) unfollow is not really a solution. There normally is a reason for following The challenge is still there. How can I cancel it? Especially important when the number of challenges is restricted to 10/3.
  23. I can see the same. Sometimes (maybe one out of 5) a trick won will be quitted after a short delay as if the robot has won it. 1) pictures 2) animation on 3) no autoplay singleton 4) this behaviour is new 5) in instant tourney
  24. Challenge might be a nice idea. I could start but not finish without playing. How to cancel? Still a lot of work to be done with translations (missing translation and typos). A lot of text to be read, which makes it hard to find what I am searching. Text is often only partially displayed. Little visual help for orientation. For example it was hard to see that vugraph is running. More clicks needed (a bit annoying). Where can I disable being feeded by "friends"? Is there a way to find the old News in the News Feed area? Including tourneys in the drop down menu "BBO Now" would have made sense. Masterpoints and User profile only lengthen the list of "My BBO" without benefit.
