  1. Normally I will send two private messages and one to the table before I replace a player ... but there is no general rule for TDs how to act in a tourney and with a lot of open calls I might reduce the number of messages and the waiting time before acting. But even when I might make a mistake once a week or once a month I hope players will accept that for the benefit of playing in a hosted tourney. This might be slightly different in pay-tourneys (especially concerning the rules) but not completely.
  2. I would very much appreciate if full information of the future partner is shown before I accept to sub. I am missing this too. As TD I can add it will help little when subs accept but wont stay. In team matches this might end the match for the rest. What about the possibility for subs to see the played cards in the same way as kibs can do as long as he does not play the second card himself? Of course there is not enough time to have a look at 10 tricks but this might help a lot for boards where no more but two or three tricks have been played. What I still miss in the browser version is the possibility for players to choose the prefered sub out of the list of available subs when his partner got disconnected. This list should include all informations as seen in the profile including the notes and categories. Is it planned to implement that sooner or later? I think this is not only a benefit for the players themselves but one for the TD too especially in the beginning of a tourney, when a lot of players need to be replaced. When 20 % find their own sub this will help to make a better job. OT: Does anybody know how to disable the autocorrection or change the related language in the BBF Editor? Obviously when I write there is a German autocorrection working that adds mistakes to English text.
  3. I dont think there is any TD never making a mistake once a while. Especially under pressure (lot of red ones, speedball or problems with the BBO software) this might happen more often than in normal tourneys. Additional risk factors are missing or wrong reasons for TD calls. Anyway when the TD arrives at your table you should watch the chat and react timely. There are little that ignore replies.

  5. In the Browser version there is a search term that you can use to filter the list of tourneys. That works pretty well for IMP tourneys. Just key in "IMP". It does not work for MP as MP is part of IMP as well. Additonal you can sort for the tourney type by pressing the column header. I dont think there is no similar functionality for the old download version.
  6. One of the problems is that when one player withdraws very often a second one is withdrawing shortly after. One of the reasons might be he does not want to play with a sub. The host/TD has no chance to rescue the match. He should have at least one minute time to find a sub before automatic cancellation process starts. Maybe two minutes even better. The new features we got in this area some month ago where exactly aiming for random team matches and I think that is a good direction to go for. You can step in with your partner or even select a random partner. I would very much appreciate if the software would support hosts a bit more and make it more enjoyable for the stayers.
  7. A real time approval might be too much workload for the yellows? Additional the score is not always above 3000. When doing a kind of report it would never make sense to trigger on single events. As you say can be misclick or wrong judgement or whatever ... But when a players appears let's say >5 times a month it should be easy to identify a problem with this player. Reasonable dataset like excluding teaching tables assumed. A small number of destructive cheating players can and sometime does destroy the atmosphere and I think it is necessary to keep them to a limited number. I think the abuse team is already working on that problem and we would face a bigger one without their effort. I just wonder how the effort could be minimized by automatic tools not enlarged. I absolutely agree
  8. I face such bidding and play quite frequently in my Indy tournaments. Really destructive bidding and playing too. I would say I see about 1-2 boards a month and there are not too many tourneys I am running. We do not have it in our German tourneys, where the fluctuation of players is not that high and they are grouped in pairs anyway. I think it is pure destructive behaviour without any personal reason as pairs change each board in my Indy's. They are not necessarily new members at BBO, the last one I saw had about 4000 logins. They mostly dissappear before the end of the Hand and have to be subbed so I wonder if it is THAT easy to identify them. I don't think I see all cases but when I identify them I am blacklisting that player for my tourneys. But is that enough? I just asked a yellow if it makes sense to report to abuse as this is additional effort and I have problems to send mails to BBO anyway (not supporting Umlaute for reply mail). I am sure most TD's dont. Therefore I would very much appreciate if that could be done by an automatic Job. Concerning cheaters I am very often confronted with suspicions. Sometimes it is easy for me to decide but more often I feel helpless. Cheating is poisoning the atmosphere no matter if with or without reason. But I found it obvious that some players do no longer participate when kibbing is forbidden. For me as TD I wonder what is the best approach to handle with suspicions. Reporting, testing, discussing Hands with experts? Automatic tools like prepared hand-tests could be of real help.
  10. I am not sure what hand records you are talking of. The internet side with the hand records or the hands and results within BBO flash? Anyway I like both including the tourney information.
  11. Hand 1: With my regular partner I will open 2♣ = semiforcing and as a modification of Benjamin will rebid 4♥. That shows 9 tricks with long hearts (7+) and 12 - 15/16 HCP. We use that for majors only. Hand 2: Maybe in third seat - never in first or second. Vulnerability at least not red vs white. Hand 3: no thought of preempt
  12. Please only answer when you yourself are directing or hosting tourneys at BBO. BBO gave us a feature to make life easier for directing and more comfortable for the players participating in our tourneys by excluding players with a bad completion rate. After I found out about this possibilty I wonder what the TD communitiy is thinking about. Do we like it and how do we use it. Does it work the way we want it to work. Do we want to change it or leave it as it is. I hope this little poll might help to figure that out.
  13. I can notice disconnections when logging in from a weak internet in hotels or hot spots.
  14. Hope you dont mind me saying it frankly. The idea is good, the way of calculation is poor as it gives casual players and beginners a big handicap. Shouldn't it be worth to rethink what alternatives of calculation are possible without creating such a big handicap? Why not work with a kind of capped moving average of maximum 100 values per player where you have to keep in mind what the last average was and how many values are in? Each new event would change the rate marginal dependent on the number of values that are already in. This is maybe not 100% as accurate as the simpler algorithm but provides a rate for nearly all players and I guess still accurate enough to judge the behavior.
  15. Just to be sure I got it right... This means that a player that did NOT participate in 10 tournaments during the last 60 days will lose his TCR and a player NOT playing at a table for more than 30 days will lose his MCR? Casual players on BBO will not be able to have a completion rate though they might complete every board and every tourney they ever started and will be treated the same way as someone having a completion rate of 0?
  16. I love team matches and making it easier to set them up is a really good idea. I very much appreciate! Here are my experiences that I made. I created several team matches without participating myself to find out about how it works. I was able to create a match without any player named and came to the tables overview of all open matches showing my tables and 8 players to be seated. I received about half a dozen chats within seconds asking for pairs or single players to participate. Problem 1: it is not possible to copy the names in chat to insert them in the invitation screen or even better - do that with a "right mouse click" in context menu I started to invite players by clicking on the "invitation" button of a seat and then typing their names in. Problem 2: Only a small number of the invited players accepted as if that is not always working. When I tried again in further matches I found that a lot of them accepted when I invited more than once. During typing player names I got several popups from other players asking for a seat using the new software. I cannot finish the invitation I am working on before answering all open popups. The dialogue box is blocked by the new popup. Problem 3: New requests are blocking the invitation of players that asked first For the popup requests I could not figure out how to seat these players to certain seats. For example I still wanted to seat a special player on south at table 1, as they asked me to play as pair and did not want the new one to take that seat I wanted to reserve for someone else. Of course the software seated the new player on the seat where I did not want him to play and pairs could not play together. Or maybe I want to select one of the requesting players as my partner to play. I did not find out how to do that. Problem 4: How to seat players to special seats when they are requesting for participation per popup request. After invitating about 10 players the overview of my tables was unchanged - I had to press the acutalize button to refresh that. Problem 5: The view of the tables should refresh faster and automatically else the host might invite several players for the same seat. After I invited all players that asked for participation there were still two seats free. I looked for the sub list to find new ones but that did not work as most of the the subs were already playing in the team match. I would have expected that they are removed from list when accepting a team match? Problem 6: Players in team match still listed in sub list In one of the matches I created it happened that one of the players changed his mind and withdraw before I could make all invitations --> the match was completely cancelled before it was started. Problem 7: Team match cancelled when one of the invited players is withdrawing before the match starts Sorry I listed so many problems - maybe some of them are caused by wrong usage - will be glad when someone can point that out.
  17. I am frequently asked by new players why they are blocked in tourneys or at tables to play and how the required completion rate is calculated. I searched but could not find the actual algorithm BBO is using to give players a completion rate. If this forum was the wrong place for this question feel free to move the post.
  18. We have quite a lot of national tourneys at BBO so I do not think it is only a problem for the German tourneys that we run. But of course the number of TD's running these tourneys is not that big. There are two problems where improvement would be helpful 1) TD Problem TD not being able to maintain the tourney properly when being abroad. 2) Player Problem Players that are not able to register though they are fulfilling the intended requirements but fail because of being abroad or having internet access via company internet showing another country IP. 1) I can live with the TD inconvenience when I am able to maintain tourneys in advance or know how to handle the workaround above. But I am convinced the workaround is too complicated for more TD's than only a few. 2) Players are sometimes upset why they are "blocked". They think someone decided to exclude them and dont know why. It is not only intransparent to players and TD but I am sure there are several players not asking for access. I strongly recommend to use the country chosen by the player and not the one determined by IP adress or maybe accept if one of them are fitting. Any progress in this issue I would very much appreciate and would help quite a big number of players to register easily in tourneys where they should be allowed to register.
  19. What I found out... 1) login with the language by using a special link like http://www.bridgebase.com/client/client.php?lang=de 2) Now the IP check results in country Turkey but language is still German 3) Only activate the checkbox for language not the one for country --> only German speaking players can registrate 4) Activating language and country will allow German speaking players and those with Turkish country/IP. I still think it is strange that the nationality of a player is defined per IP code and not per flag.
  20. Additional info: I am on vacation in Turkey - that might be the origin of the problem. Now I tried to register with language = DE but the tourney is still open for all Turkish players and not restricted to German.
  21. I am running an everyday tourney for German speaking players. Until yesterday that worked pretty well. All players with German flag or language were allowed to register. Additional we have a white list accepting players from other countries that do speak German. So far so good. Since yesterday we are facing the problem that Turkish players are allowed to register in our tourneys and German players are excluded. Does anyone have an idea what happened and how I can avoid that problem? I really need help urgently. Host name: TDGer The tourneys are setup with the browser version checkboxex activated for x language x country x white list x black list actually tourney 8777 is running with the same setup as always
24. Over all I still do not like the browser version. The download version is more user friendly for my eyes and it is easier to read the cards and I am not getting tired as fast as with the new version. Any improvement in this topic would be the critical improvement making the new version more attractive for me. I am acutally using both versions. The browswer version for directing and organizing the friends but very often changing to the download version for pure playing. Concerning the last changes here my comments 1) ISSUE? when trying to create a movie I could not upload a lin file. When I tried to call the help I got an error that this side of BBO is no longer existing ...? 2) The list of tourneys is still incomplete (restricted for 2 hours) 3) I like the context information shown when the mouse is pointing to a line. It would be great to have a similar functionality for the players profiles and the kibs too. 4) Is it possible to include into this context information if there is a restriction in the tourney? It is annoying when I have to click into 10 or more tourneys to find out which one I will be allowed to play. 5) ISSUE !! When playing a tourney the layout of the table has changed. The box on the left upper corner is so big that some cards of the dummy are "covered". Cards in this area cannot be selected. Maybe this has something to do with the Translation? In German there is "Matchpunkte (Paar)" which might be too long?
  25. Da es auch keine Vorschrift geben kann bei BBO "STOP" in den Raum zu schreiben, wären die Möglichkeiten für verdeckte Informationen noch größer als ohne.
