  1. When the BBO play site shuts down with error message it also closes the forum site. Seems there is an error ocurring closing all windows from bridgebase.com. BTW there seems to be the same problem with HTML version. Lots of disconnections, guess one every 30 minutes or so. Browser: Chrome
  2. Having conn Problems a lot. Many disconnections recently including shutting down BBO Forums when using the Flash Version. Why that hurry to bring it down?
  3. 3-board rounds from what I know are the norm for clubs with 5-7 tables. A full Howell for 8 tables you better play with 2-board rounds. You can play 30 boards in a full Howell or set up a 3/4 Howell with 13 or 14 rounds with three or two stationary pairs. 3-board rounds in Howell with 8 tables only makes sense when you need a lot of stationary pairs or when you want to play a lot of boards for club master or the like.
  4. Facing performance issues when using Edge
  5. Can please someone help me in finding my saved hands and the hand editor? I found a way to load saved hands but no way to save them or at least not in a new Folder. EDIT: Found the editor by exporting an existing hand but was not able to change the board manually card by card. Hope someone is working on it. Otherwise teaching with prepared boards will be nearly impossible.
  6. It is always difficult to switch to something new, I know it and I really give it a try. Most issues are just not knowing how to do it. What hurts me most is the lost of the classification information. I still hope it is hidden somewhere but I fear it is gone. I used the classification for other players a feature you introduced with the Flash version. Maybe it's only me who used and loved it? For directing purposes it was very important for me to classify "bad" subs for example. Or for kibbing purpose I marked a lot of high level players to watch them occasionally when online. Another classification I used were players from my area including students and one classification is preferred partners for play and another one for players I do not like to play with again. Categories where shown everywhere (table, list of friends, partnership desk, list of subs, …). It made life easier in tourneys and when logging in. Now I will not even see if a friend is online as he will be lost in the list. It is a pity when this information is lost. Yes I know that the upper part of the list shows what you call "friend" but not all of my friends follow me so I will miss them when they are online. And for sure I will miss a lot of high quality kibbing due to this and I will have more trouble in the tourneys I direct with rude behaviour from bad subs. Besides that I have some issues with visability (too small to read) and some with uncomfortable handling like finding tourneys or showing and comparing results of played boards. Until now I did not find a way to go back to the result list at my table after comparing with other tables. And it seems not to be possible to continue play while showing the results.
  7. There are several problems with translation and layout where the German translation is too long and overlays other areas. For example the word "N-S Figurenpunkte" used in the setup for the source of deals is too long. Preplace with "N-S HCP" and it will work. How can I switch to English to see how it really should look like? EDIT: http://www.bridgebase.com/preview/dist.20180928b/preview.php?lang=XX
  8. Will it be possible to sort friends for categories and status in future? I cant find the categories yet in the new version?

  10. Don`t ask me why the hand is copied wrong from bbo handviewer. I did not change anything manually from the link. But what you still can see and which is the root of the problem is that GIB forgets the opening bid and suddenly starts to think there are only 4- cards in ♥. At the time the board was bid north was a GIB. Later the players were switched by BBO that I had to play the contract. I will copy the board again as soon as I have it shown in My hands.
  11. Yes GIB bid 4♠ and opps found the ♥ ruff. 4♥ makes but 4♠ does not
  12. You can find a good description of how to insert a hand here. It is not a screenshot. I would be happy if only the description were wrong, but I fear the GIB forgot that I opened 1♥ promising 5+ and is acting accordingly.
  13. EDIT: Something went wrong with the copy from the handviewer. The bidding after 4♥ continued with North bidding 4♠ which went down one. Keep in mind that BBO switches the players when GIB would be declarer. So North was GIB during bidding. 14. If I would not know better I might think you are joking. There is nothing close to what I would name editing. Try to edit the ACOL Card or the KISS. Being able to enable or disable some checkboxes in GIB System is not what I would call edit. Frozen convention cards are more or less useless for random partnerships when you cannot change them on the fly.

  16. I like it when you take into account the players own rate to the setup but I still see problems the way you calculate the rate itself. With another nick a couple of days ago the following situation came up: My partner announced he has to leave after the hand. He became declarer and started to play. The board was nearly completed when one of the opps had a disconnection. After a while my partner left shortly before the disconnected opp came back. Now we had a problem as the hand could not be finished. Opps tried to claim but I as dummy could not accept their claim. Finally I left my seat and took over the declarer hand to finish it. Can you confirm that this is counted as -1? I give you another example what happened about 2 weeks ago and you tell me if that is counted as incompleteness. The host of the table disappeared (she has a business to run and when customers come in she regularly stops playing mostly coming back some minutes later). The play stopped. After a while the partner of the host said good bye and left the table. I am not sure at what point of the play that happened but will leaving this table now in the middle of bidding or play be counted as incompleteness after the play did not go on and another player already left the table? There should be more exceptions but redealing a hand when leaving a table is not counted as incomplete. How do you treat the following situations when calculating the incompleteness: Leaving during the play when being dummy Leaving after another player is already gone Leaving after the play by another player stopped Players who do not play for more than x minutes when it is their turn tbc
  17. With the BBO restrictions it is not possible to apply the rules. As host or TD you are limited by the system and simply trying to make the best out of it. Adjusting boards does not mean to adjust any unfinished board and no one proposed to simply copy the double-dummy results. When a board is not completed normally just two slow players met at a table. But of course players can try to take advantage by deliberate slow play. Some avoid a decision hoping for a lucky adjustment but what I see more often are players simply not continuing when they are in a bad contract and going down for a number. Players should call the TD early when they see abnormal slow play.
  18. In face to face tourneys you would be allowed to finish the board. BBO works different when the tourney is clocked. Giving average for a board that is nearly done is worse than adjusting especially when players start to play very slow or stop completely when they see they might get a bad result. How good or bad the adjustment will be depends on the TD on duty. When the TD made an error simply ask him politely to check the result.

  20. When you start playing tourneys you will find out your tourney completion rate (TCR) and the one of your partner is zero. A lot of hosts exclude players with a low rate as most bad behaving players have a low one. Unfortunately all beginners in tourneys too. Therefore it will be not easy to find tourneys you can play. Your first task will be to get a reasonable TCR by playing 10+ tourneys within 60 days. You could try to play pay tourneys like ACBL where is no restriction for low TCR as far as I know (unfortunately most or all are speedball) or become member of one of the clubs (BBOfans, Hornets and more). They are mostly free and have no TCR limitation. When you get a message that only friends are allowed in a tourney, read the rules and send a message to the host asking him/her to allow you and your partner. Most will accept friendly requests. Finally I think it might be a good idea as beginner to have a look at BIL. That is a club with a small fee offering not only tourneys but a lot of lessons for beginners and intermediates too. Members of the BIL are mostly polite and playing there should be a good experience especially for players that are quite new to Bridge.
  21. You have to establish the fit first. 3♥ is a forcing ♠ raise in this bidding sequence. In the next round you can ask for KC with 4NT. But does not make much sense with a void.
  22. Thanks Marmar for replaying the last three boards! b14-16 10 /2 http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:bd502461.3d27.11e7.b134.0cc47a39aeb4-1495262654&u=scarletv Total for 16 boards scarletv / marmar52 32 / 10 22
  23. scarletv marmar52 I could only play 13 boards due to technical problem with BBO I have no link but found the played boards in the history b1-b13 22/8 I created a new challenge with 4 boards and hope marmar52 will see it and accept. We need only 3 of them but 4 is minimum.
  24. There is a technical problem with my second challenge. I played 12 or 13 boards and then an error ocurred and it is not possible to open the challenge again. I can open the challenge but no cards and no results are shown. Error 2032 whatever that means
