  1. If East ducks, I take the ♥K and cash ♦AKQ. If diamonds are 4-2, I play a heart to the ♥J intending to endplay east. If East takes the ♥A, I deblock the king, playing East for ♠KJ and a major strip squeeze.
  2. I play ♦K and diamond back. We should make: ♠AK ♥A ♦Q ♣QJ.
  3. IMP. All love. 2♦* pass 2♠! ??? * Multi ! P/C, better hearts ♠x ♥AQ ♦AJ8xx ♣KQJxx
  4. Small club. If partner has one sure trick, our 2nd trick is maybe in clubs, maybe not. If partner has one sure trick and a ruff, our ruff is in clubs.
  5. I play: 1M: 2M: 3M, 5-9 2NT: 4+M, 10+ 3♣: 4M, 6-9 (usually balanced), mixed raise 3♦: 3M, 10-11 (by unpassed hand) 3M: 4+M, 0-5 1M-3♣ 3♦ is an asking bid, usually game-probe (3M with minimum, other with maximum) This structure I find very good because: a) You bid most thin games having 5-4 or 6-4 fit; You never invite aggressively after 1M-2M (and go down on the 3rd level); c) You can judge better the game aspects after 1M-(pass)-3♣-(Dbl/3♦).
  6. Good point. Let's say, you don't like the spade "stopper" and bid 3♦, hoping to hear 3♠ (after which 3NT would be pretty automatic). Then, partner bids 4♣. So: 1♠ pass pass Dbl pass 2♠ pass 3♦ pass 4♣ pass ?? What do you bid now and why?
  7. South's 3♠ bid is an undisciplined bid but certainly understandable. He is fighting for the partial, knowing partner has some constructive values and 0-2 hearts. From my point of view, most blame goes on North who tried with 3 small spades, a balanced hand and dubious ♥K to steal the pot (knowing NS to have max 23 HCP). Too aggressive. Had North passed, South's 3♠ would be a winning bid when spades broke 2-3. Blame: North - 85% South - 15%
  8. IMP. We vul. Expert partner. ♠QJ ♥10xxx ♦AQxx ♣Qxx 1♠ pass pass Dbl pass 2♠ pass ?? a) Do you agree with double (or: 1NT, pass)? B) How many HCPs p has ? c) What does 2♠ promise (a rebid, no rebid, GF hand...)? d) What do you bid and why?
  9. T/O both. The 2nd case shows a hand: - with ~9-14 HCP, - without heart stopper, - with club honor (remember, partner didn't bid 3♥ but 3♣). Say: ♠Kxx ♥xxx ♦Kxxx ♣Axx If you play double as penalty, an easy 3NT will be missed when the balancer has something like: ♠Axx ♥Kx ♦x ♣KQJTxxx Whenever it has sense that double is TO, double is TO!!! This double cannot be penalty because the 3♣ bidder must double again with 6/7♣ and heart shortness.
  10. you still dont get the point. try again. Hmm, did the Director ask East what he meant when he said "3" after the claim? As I see, East, being an expert player, is a very good candidate for Director's "black book", no matter had West really revoked or not. :)
  11. Because I cannot correct the name of the post.
  12. IMP, we vul ♠A109xxx ♥Axx ♦Ax ♣xx (4♥) ?? What do you bid and why? __ * How can I edit the name of the post? I put an ace too much!
  13. Assume you are playing some standard expert system where 4♣ shows 5M5♣. IMP. All vul. ♠Qx ♥AK9x ♦x ♣AJ9xxx (3♦) ?? Your bid is?
  14. This hand isn't a problem at all. A clear-cut negative double. Partner will know to bid 5♥ with no spade wastage and some useful card. Instead, if you play run'n'gun bridge where double is something else - probably 5♥ is better than double.
  15. 3♦ clear cut. My trumps are too weak for 4♦. Give me AKJxx Axxxx - Kxx, and i will bid 4♦.
  16. IMP. All love. ♠x ♥KJT ♦QJTxx ♣Axxx 1♦ 2♠ pass pass ?? What do you bid and why?
  17. I'll fake a GF 2♠ intending to: - raise 2NT to 3NT; - pass 3♦; - pass 3♣; - reconsider after 3♥ :).
  18. East 100%. If his hand isn't an opening then it isn't even a blind and aceless jump to game. 3♠ after 2♠ and everything would have been OK.
  19. IMP. They vul. ♠KQ9x ♥AJ ♦Jxx ♣AKQx pass 3♦ ??
  20. IMP. All vul. ♠AQ8x ♥QJ8xxx ♦Qx ♣x 1♣ 1♥ 2♣ ???
  21. Pass. No resaon not to believe partner is doing the right action.
  22. Well done. ♠AKJTxxxx-♥K-♦xx-♣xx it was.
  23. [hv=d=s&v=b&n=shaxxxdqjxxcaqjxx&w=sxhqtxxxdakxxcxxx]266|200|Scoring: IMP On dA partner signals odd number of diamonds.[/hv] 4♠ pass pass pass Lead: ♦A
  24. 3♠ Natural. Game forcing.
