  1. If RHO drops the ♠9 on the A, I am taking the spade finesse.
  2. 4♥ suggests slam! It shows a VERY GOOD HAND. Anyway I think I would bid 4♣.
  3. 3♠, I am not risking a double game swing when I can enter at the 3-level.
  4. Matchpoints, All Red, First Seat ♠Jxx ♥xxx ♦AKJTx ♣AT 1♦ - (P) - 1♥ - (3♣) P - (P) - Dbl - (P) ?
  5. Matchpoints, All Red, First Seat ♠T ♥9xx ♦Kxxxxx ♣QJx Uncontested: P - 1♣ 1♦ - 2♥ 3♣ - 3NT ?
  6. I'd 5♦. Even if 5♦ is wrong, sometimes they do something stupid.
  7. One of the biggest reasons to pass is that partner will reopen with a double when he has some values but no clear direction. 2♣x = slaughter.
  8. So you got a top and two avg+ boards. Nice set!
  9. If responder has something like.... x AKxxx AJTxxx x JTFANCLUB'D

Are you drunk or something, I don't understand what is going on.
  11. No. Arend, I am very surprised you have never heard of the law of total tricks!
  12. Partner has a good hand for spades. I'd guess something like ♠JT9x ♥AKx ♦AQxx ♣Ax. I would definitely pass 4♠, though, because partner never has ♠JT9x ♥AKx ♦AQxx ♣Ax.
  13. This is a tough hand, and I don't think either player bid very poorly. North had a tough decision and chose to go conservative. Give south a slightly different hand and everyone would be talking about how even the 5 level is not safe with North's hand, and that he is totally to blame for driving to a disastrous no play slam.
  14. I play the cuebid is Michaels and think this is clearly better than natural. If the response had been 1M instead of 1NT, though, I would play the cuebid is natural. 1♦ - (P) - 1NT - (X) is just your everyday takeout double of ♦. Being a PH does not change anything to me.
  15. IMPs, White vs Red, Second Seat ♠JT9x ♥K ♦T9xx ♣Kxxx (2♥) - P - (P) - Dbl (P) - 2♠ - (P) - 3♠ (P) - ?
  16. IMPs, All White, Second Seat ♠KQx ♥AJT9x ♦xx ♣AQx (1NT) - Dbl - (2♣) - 2♠ (P) - ? 1NT is 10-12, 2♣ is ♣+other. No specific discussion about 2♠.
