  1. IMPs, Red vs White, First Seat ♠KQxx ♥ATxxx ♦void ♣K8xx Uncontested: 1♥ - 2♦ 2♥ - 3♣ 3♠ - 3NT 4♣ - 4♦ ? Agree with the previous bidding? Now what? Is 4♥ here forcing, or suggesting 3604? An initial 2♠ was undiscussed as to whether or not it shows extras.
  2. IMPs, All White, First Seat ♠Txxx ♥Jxx ♦void ♣AKQxxx 1♣ - (P) - 1♠ - (2♦) 2♠ - (3♠) - 4♠ - (5♦) ? Comments about previous bidding are okay. Partner is clee.
  3. If my partner pulled my double on this hand, I would launch him directly into the sun.
  4. Anybody ever gotten their car stolen? I was playing at a sectional and my car just disappeared. I actually knew the spot that I parked at, and I looked everywhere for it, so I think it is safe to assume I lost it. I filed a police report and called my insurance company, but I haven't heard anything yet. I am pretty sure my insurance covers this, so I'm not too worried about it. Should I do anything else in particular? RIP cleemobile :P.
  5. Sure, but also tells something about the shape, and 9xxx is ok as stopper, I would prefer 10xxx, but 9xxx will do as well. Of course 2C works pretty well on the given hand, because our partner happens to hold 4 clubs, as it is, clubs is the first suit he would lie, if he had too. With kind regards Marlowe Partner could also have a singleton diamond too. I don't understand this argument, yes he could be 4432 even. Again you are thinking of the worst possible scenario and not the most common scenarios.
  6. Ok there are two things wrong with this: 1) Partner does NOT need to know we have values. In this case he already knows we have values, and in fact, I would say my hand is very average for this position. This argument is used all the time even in other (more appropriate but still wrong) scenarios, like "oh man, I could've bid this way with a yarb, so since I have two kings, I have to do something." PARTNER NEVER PLAYS YOU FOR A YARB. 2) 1NT also lies about some values in DIAMONDS?!?!
  7. North is a much more creative player than me, because I would just bid 2♣. Seriously there should be no desire to play 1NT here with nothing in diamonds opposite shortness. Edit: Sorry, my comments in this thread are dumb because I misread the problem and thought south was a PH. I agree that 1NT has considerably more merit in this situation, but I would still bid 2♣.
  8. I think you guys are underestimating the likelihood that the field gets to game on these cards. Most souths will not open, and I think I would get to only 2♠. Anyway I agree there is no need to try to be a genius here. It is true that with so few in HCP, LHO is more likely to have good shape, but it is just not enough to take such a strange spade play.
  9. jtfanclub, just wow. I am not even going to be mean, but you should reconsider what you understand about bridge bidding fundamentals.
  10. I kinda wanna bid 3NT. But not in real life. In real life I just make some sort of general game try.
  11. No, but in this case the opponents have not named another suit. It is impossible for someone to have a hand that cannot make a takeout double of 1♦ but suddenly wants to make a takeout balance over 1NT.
  12. Eating a teaspoon of cinnamon is really difficult.
  13. yes 3d is a tiny little lie that shows 4 spades and diamond shortness, which, we are very close to having. If you play 3♦ there as Splinter, then I would bid 2♦. I don't know anybody who thinks 3♦ as Splinter there is SAYC, but whatever. How is telling partner that you have a very strong 3145/4045 going to help him evaluate his hand better? This is what will happen if you start with a reverse.
  14. Playing 2/1: 1♣ - (3♥) - 3♠ - (4♥) P Is this pass forcing?
  15. 1) You have a very clear initial pass. 2) Your partner should have splintered into hearts to better describe his hand to you instead of bidding 4♠. Splintering into a singleton A is not perfect, but I think it is a better description than 4♠. 3) I think you are worth 4NT over 4♥. Over 4♠ I would just pass (like you did).
  16. I'd play a heart. I am actually unsure of when declarer is making this (without the ♦A).
  17. I'm with Han on this one.
  18. No. It would be a FP situation if we had shown game forcing values in terms of strength. We have not done anything which even remotely resembles this.
  19. I would bid 4♣, which is just forcing with lots of clubs.
  20. Penalty is probably the best meaning for this near-impossible bid.
