  1. I don't think it would be a good idea to bid at ALL with this hand at ANY vul :)
  2. But true Experts avoid to do a finess, because a 50% chance is the best a finesse can get you. Preparing a squeese or some kind of endplay often has better chances. So maybe advanced card play, is sometimes to advanced to be understood bei intermediate players. What other examples of advanced play can you think of that might be hard to understand for intermediate players. REAL experts are those who(IMO) 1. Always countthe cards in ALL suits 2 Make correct inferences from bidding and cards played (and can alter their perceptions FAST if necessary) 3 Almost always pick the right line of play (ie sqeeze? strip and throwin ? etc) {IF I manage the right one it's nornally a LUCKY guess} 4. An expert will get more good scores (even playing the SAME cards) as a non- expert LASTLY a REAL expert is one who IF playing with somebody who is nowhere as good as s/he is NEVER makes them feel bad :D
  3. I prefer to play it as 1 round force :P
  4. It has been downloaded 11 times so I assume it works, but the original file is on my computer (mark sent it to me), so maybe I am loading it off my hard disk...but it seemst to work fine for me. Can someone who has managed to download it successfully say so? Worked FINE for me - and extremely instructive it was too Thanks Mark :P
  5. Because I play Precision I would be able to open 1♣ but still can't make game as pard will NOT bid over 1♥ and I don't have good enough suit to FORCE over 1♦ BUT supposing the ONLY forcing bid I could make was 2♣ -{game force} I don't have enoght to open 2♣ {same reason as Precision reasoning above} SO I believe UNLESS playing a really esoteric system MOST will not find game here :P
  6. I bid 2♠ now ( and maybe WISHED i had opened 2♠ weak  [unless not playing weak 2 major opemers] ) ..........but having opened 1♠ I don't want to play ALL doubles are for penalty on MY second time to call so call 2♠ :P
  7. YES IMHO the 3♠ bid shows 4 ------ and I would have bid 3NT with that hand
  8. OK having decided to open 1♠ NOT 1♣ I would PASS ;)
  9. 2♦ showing 5♦ and a few points ( but obviously less than 10 cos u didn't JUMP to 2♦ origionally ;) (OR is this being too simplistic????)
  10. ♥♥WELL as I play Michaels I would START with 2♦ and over a possible 5♦ prempt (if P passes it) would X --- asking P to bid his BEST major ;)
  11. I have no problems if directors (ESPECIALLY those of PAY tourneys) want to ask for players in the (maybe) 1 hour before T starts BUT if you get "private" messages which flood your BBO screen when u log on ( NEVER happened to me but then I don't play PAY tourneys) I can understand how frustrating you would feel which is why I think it would be good if ALL "broadcast" messages "timed out" once the tourney for which they were broadcasting actually finished ;)
  12. Although I can see that making this type of option availabe might cause Uday (and any other programmers on BBO) big headaches I too agree that being able to sort into MY personal catagories would be a good a option would for me :) BUT I don't have any problems with LOTS of colours coming up for folk's names {and( to push a favorite barrow ) nor would I have a problem if directions were to show up on the "table" part of the playing surface :)- }
  13. why bid ANYTHING else BUT 2NT?? :)
  14. I bid 3♠ IMHO I showed my hand with the 2♦ Q bid - I have nothing more to show (in the system u described anyway :)
  15. I would not open 3♦ with only 2 points at any vul Because I don't want the suit led IF P is on lead :D HOW can my partner trust my bidding after that :P
  16. I agree Ben - BUT in some tourneys you change direction ( ie is not a straight Mitchell) so I think having the directions SOMEWHERE on the "table" square should be possible without making the display too distracting  [However I am NOT a programmer ]
  17. Maybe something like this [hv=s=skj10976hqdakq1097c]133|100|[/hv] I don't think that hand is good enough for a 2♣ opener - far better to open 1♠
  18. Well - I can give you some reasons as to NO replies B) and I believe that it's neither too simple or too difficult 1 There are normally SOME clues from the bidding 2. Possible clues from previous tricks 3. How many tricks do you have to make from this combination? 4. Most of us don't work out the EXACT % for each possiblilty (or one hand would take ME more than the allowable time to play it :)
  19. NO - U need to make a decision As and WHEN opps bid 4♠(IMO) For all you know they may NOT bid it and you make 4♥
  20. thanks for the explaination
  21. Thanks - BUT I can't find the hand ANYWHERE - nor can I find the players looking at "my hands" or "Tourney Results"
  22. Just a question - when viewing "my hands" later are opps ALERTS shown ?? Just because I had a disagreement with a director (after asking for an adjustment) as he said opps DID alert and I said they didn't - and I truly believe we BOTH were telling the truth as we saw it :)
  23. I disagree - UNLESS you have "ignore lobby messages" set on your private settings - I reallt would like BBO to be able to set "ignore ALL but TOURNAY" messages when I'm playing in a specific tourney :)
