at our local club ( which has a BIG percentage of retired folk some of whom can't move quickly at all) a 2 board movement is 13 mins and a 3 board is 19 mins and only if following a REALLY slow pair do you get held up -- and the directors are penalising the "ablebodied" but awfully slow pairs (who deliberately bid and play slowly to try to get good scores)

The Laws of Bridge DO give kibitzers the right to kibitz. My remark was aimed at tourneys disallowing kibitzers, that's why I put right in " " and followed with to be ABLE to kibitz. In tourneys, now with the rightclick option to Follow this player in tourney, how about the kibitzer doing so is only allowed to see one hand, the hand of the player he wants to kibitz? With no other way to enter a tourney as kib,but always allowing to kib ONE of the hands,I would be fine with that too  Looks good to me

The Laws of Bridge DO give kibitzers the right to kibitz. I believe ONLY if the players at the actual table agree BUT willing to be corrected ( and maybe different in other countries than Australia

would stars /world class players NEED to cheat?? IF they do maybe BBO needs to change the way that players are rated??( especially "self ratings" )

2♠ followed by 4♠ (over Pards ♦bid)

I play lightner X there as "please lead dummy's FIRST bid suit" GREAT X sceptic (I am assuming that's what you have agreed with P  :D )

sounds like a good idea to me

give partner info to make last decission
bearmum replied to kgr's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
totally agree. Me 2 :P Don't open a weak 2 if you want to bid again voluntarily(ie if NOT forced to do so by your partner ) -
I voted for 3♦ as IMO I do not have sufficient to X and then bid diamonds if P bids clubs :) Partner hasn't bid yet and might even be able to either a. bid spades himself b. support my diamonds

2 club opener the idiot passes

Sceptic --- forgive me if I have misunderstood you ;) The first post of the string you asked what we thought of your PASS of your partner's 2♣ (supposingly forcing) bid ?? Now you seem to be saying you made a mistake with the pass -- which is an entirely different question --- and if you apologised immediately to P ( like SORRY P -- I really made a HUGE boo boo ) then hopefully the person with whom you were playing would be forgiving BUT As I said early in this string IF partner makes a forcing bid ( whatever that is and in whatever bidding sequence) for the sake of partnership trust I believe it is YOUR responsibility not to pass!! SO in the example quoted you should not pass because there are lots of hands -- see the one posted by Hog as the extreme -- where 2♣ will not be a good result  If partner has made an incorrect forcing bid and you get a bad result -- THEN you can make up your mind if you need to clarify what bids are forcing (if a long term partnership -- or just put him/her on your "do not play with again" list :P -
WOW -- even though I didn't post comment here I did actually bid 2♠ AND for the first and only time in the first three BBO polls actually scored 100     ( and I think 100 is my maximum score in any of them) :D

Well, it would be possible, but we would have to coordinate it, since two different people (Ben and I) work on two different sides of the contest. Also, this would involve one of us getting credit for the work of the other (let's face it, people like to give credit to whosever name appears on the post), which never makes relationships between people easy. OOOPS - I hadn't thought of that Elianna -- I think BOTH you and Ben do a terrific job -- and compliment each other  ---- I was thinking of the convenience to ME (not you two) when I made the original suggestion B) PLease do what ever is convenient for you both :(
-
since 2♣ here is NF I PASS
-
Maybe it would be possible to post BOTH the panellists and the contestant's votes together? but if not I vote for "after the panellists"
-
My vote was for the answers which got 2+ votes ............ :)

4♦ because 1 U don't have even a partial stopper in ♣ so prefer not to bid 3NT 2 U don't have a rebiddable ♥ suit 3 U don't have ♠ support 4 U are NOT allowed to pass a forcing bid ;) :P B)
-
again, I would not take 3S as a forcing bid. Is it necessary to make a 2nd forcing bid ( after the 2♥ reverse? ) ;)
-
I went for 3♠ --- I have already shown a big hand by reversing BUT P has not done anything more than rebid his (presumably 5-6) ♠s ;)

Purpose/Function/Bridge Online Polls...
bearmum replied to inquiry's topic in BPO - Bridge Poll Online
I second this 200% TY HEAPS BEN AND ELIANNA (name edited ) I hope you do not discontinue these polls, even though I have posted MY thoughts in the relevant strings regarding my stance on BBO Adv :P --- I will still enter my answers (even though probably MOST of them will be incorrect :D  ) -
WTG Alain -- I too only play 2/1 forcing 1 round only :D BUT I have NO problem with the answers to bidding quiz being according to "bbo Advanced" EXCEPT that there seems to be a difference of opinion {as I read the boards on the subject} as to the meaning of "system bids in BBO Advanced -- like LTTC and 'serious 3NT" BUT if the "experts" can't agree what HOPE have as an "intermediate+/Adv- " player have of understanding BBO Adv? As I said in previous posts I do not want to remember all the conventions that BBO Adv entails when I play bridge to win BUT also for FUN :( {I am over 60 remember and do not want to play at National level here in Australia and was happy to win a few games at C level at NACB'S in USA in years between 2000-2003}

I agree but that's NOT what this whole string is about  :D :D :( OR have I had a compete "SENIOR" MOMENT? ?? ---------------- see my previous posts
