  1. I had some students bid this way: 1♣ Pass 1♥ Pass 1♠ 1NT! Opener and responder asked the 1nt bidder partner for the meaning of such bid. In the end my student said it was a psych but this sort of bid isn't in the system at all, what should she have said when asked? What should the Director have done?
  2. Did you ever have one of those? Today a lady called to the Federation selling us one Bridge Challenger unopened (according to her). How old is this machine and how does it work? Is it worth buying? How much can we offer?
  3. I think that's precisely the problem. A psych can't be alerted. Or can it?
  4. This comment was awesome. If I didn't know any better I'd say you played that tournament, this was partner's hand: ♠Ax ♥AKT8xx ♦A98x ♣J It's true that partner got a little carried away but 7NT is cold on any lead and even 6♥ is down after a club lead.
  5. Playing SAYC you come accross this beauty: ♠Txx ♥QJ ♦Txx ♣AKQT6 Bidding goes: 1♥ 2♣ 2♦ 2♥ 4NT 5♣ 5♦ 6♣ 6♦ ??? Your partner asked for Key-Cards and the Trump Queen. What is 6♦ and what will you bid?
  6. [hv=d=w&v=b&s=saxxh8xxxd9xxcaq9]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] Bidding goes: 3♣ Pass 3NT! All Pass What's likely to be the result?
  7. I would bid 3♠ followed by 4♠. Partner should get my shape and either pass or bid 5♣ or 5♦. He also might bid 6 though I probably should help him, I mean bid it myself. Edit: After watching the hands I do not think my partner has his bid. 1♦-1NT-2♠-3♣-3♠-4♠ (being MP's)
  8. I do not exactly know what fielding means, care to explain, please? Is it the same as fielding a psych?
  9. Or psychics. It's just part of the game. Not psyching against (provided it's really psychic and not bullying) newbies is like not playing a long suit against bad opponents for they won't know how to discard, the poor things. On a side thought, if you're prohibited from psyching, wouldn't this be some sort of previous knowledge that your opponents should know about (and therefore should be pre-alerted)?
  10. 3♦ likes ♦'s? Weird. 2NT was transfer to diamonds? Maybe I'd bid 4♦ but I'm not convinced.
  11. I don't know Ken, I think. Anyway, it's perfectly normal for people to get angry and suspicious about psychics and the like. What I think happened here is that one of the persons at Ken's table is friend or relative or really close to one of the 'suits' or someone else who is important and they are making a big fuss about it. No need to get angry unless your psychic is the only one being investigated or if you're really cheating (which I guess isn't the case or you wouldn't be here telling us about it).
  12. Yeah, on the first hand Opener would have to bid 6♣ over 5♥ in order to get to 6♦.
  13. [hv=d=e&v=e&n=s6xxhqjtxdaqxcak9&w=s9hkxdkj108xxcj8xx]266|200|[/hv] Bidding goes: Pass 1♠ Pass! 2♣ Pass 2♥ Pass 4NT Pass 5♥ Pass 6♥ All Pass You were thinking about the last hand and didn't prempt. You lead a club which declarer wins at the table, your partner discouraging with the ♣2. Heart finesse is taken right away. You win, lead another club to declarer's Queen and the ♥J finishes trumps. Declarer discards a spade on the ♣A and tables his hand: AKJ7 A9x x --- What do you do?
  14. 5♥ on the first one, intending to play 6♠. Or 6♦... I'm gonna try to cash three top diamonds (after ruffing the heart continuation) on the second one and assume the trump Queen to be offside so I'll sort of cross-ruff. I'll use the option to show the ♣&M two suiter on the third one.
  15. If it goes 1♠ X XX I'd bid 2♣, just because I play pass to be punitive in these instances. However, I think my partner should bid just 2♥, which shouldn't go wrong with a spade void (it's not gonna be 1♠ 2♥ pass pass pass, unless partner has the hand you had or one more spade and then it won't be so bad to play just 2♥)
  16. [hv=d=e&v=e&s=skj87hadqt8xxxcxx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] Partner deals and opens 3♥, RHO passes.
  17. I think it is mostly a matter of skill (and time to dedicate to the game), but it also has to be said that finding the correct bridge partner is like finding the love of your life (or the perfect business partner or associate).
  18. What's the name of the song?
  19. Whereagles convinced me, though I would have used the 4th suiot forcing... C'mon I have 11 HCP which are like 14 in this sequence...
  20. I win in dummy and play the ♥J and let it run unless covered. If LHO upon winning returns a spade I win in hand, ruff a diamond, discard a diamond on the ♣A and play a small heart, intending to play the nine in case RHO plays low. I draw trumps and lose a diamond in the end after cashing my hearts.
  21. Maybe I should have opened 2♣. I think I'd rebid 3♦ or 4♦ in both cases (though I could pass 1NT...)
  22. Apparently I have never played with a Capricorn...
  23. That seems very wrong. I'm not sure it should be legal.
