  1. I'd win in dummy and play ♠A and ♠K and ruff the small spade with the ♣J if RHO follows all the time. I plan to finesse clubs next if spades were 3-3, play club Ace if I wasn't overrruffed and toss a heart on a spade and ruff a heart after taking out trumps if I was overruffed.
  2. I think there's not a catch-all. At least none I know. Sometimes you can 'raise' the fourth suit (4441/5440), sometimes you just bid the lowest of your two suits. You could even raise partner's first suit with two doubleton honors (yuck!) or simply repeat your best suit even though it's not a card longer than previously announced. Returning to the first suit semms to be more convenient, though. Partner rarely 'believes' the suit to be longer and if it is we can just re-bid again afterwards.
  3. Non-Vul against Vul opponents you open the following hand with 1♥: ♠QJx ♥AKxxx ♦Axx ♣AT Your partner, an intermidiate player according to himself, bids 4♥. Opponents are passing, do you: (1)Pass (2)Bid on
  4. ♠T42 ♥AQJ5 ♦9765 ♣J3 Do you bid stayman? If so, how will you continue depending on your partner's re-bid? Is this hand a sign-off hand or an invitational hand in front of a 15-17 balanced opening?
  5. South but only if the pair is clear that North's hand can be opened with 3♦.

    7S

The contract is good, though the decision between playing 6 or 7 sometiemes depends on your opponents. Anyway, why didn't you ask for the trump Q when you knew partner had 3 Key Cards?

    4Dx

Both are culprits. Why double when you have no certain trick of your own? Why leave the double when almost half your points are in your partner's bid suit (and you have 5 cards)?.

    Lead

I led a small club. I expect dummy to have the diamond ace and even though I first thought of leading a diamond I don't think the opponents are bad players, 'cause it wasn't stated in the question.
  9. kenberg's video is not available in my country. What is it? Why?
  10. I have noticed that anyone can say anything (I haven't seen swear words yet, though) in their information tags in BBO. Some people, for example, have been supporting/praising president Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, even though they are not Venezuelan or live here (I'd recommend them to come and live in Venezuela to see it with your own eyes before supporting him). That one 'touches' me personally as I am from Venezuela. Lately, some people have been taking it against Israel and Jewish people in general, which I think is just wrong, for being born a Jew (or even being born or living in Israel) doesn't mean you're a culprit in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Blame it on the ones that send the soldiers there, blame it on the politicians if you want, just don't blame it on the people. I think something must be done in this respect and either tell people to clean their messages or prohibit them altogether.
  11. I also prefer 2♠, but I agree that 3♥ might be better with West's hand. Also, extended-lebensohl might help, too.
  12. My mistake, when I said you open the bidding I meant you're dealer.
  13. You open the bidding (you're dealer). No matter the vulnerability, I just want you to tell me which of the opening bids in the poll is the most abnormal for the following hand: ♠Axx ♥AKTxxx ♦KQ ♣Qx
  14. I win the ♥A, duck a club and
  15. 12-13 years, which is missing. Unfortunately, I haven't progressed much since I haven't been reading as I used to 9 years ago.
  16. I, as Fluffy, also play for RHO to have: ♠Void ♥??? ♦T986x ♣xxxxx Problem is when RHO plays small on the diamond lead from dummy...
  17. I think ruffing a spade is the percentage play. If the double squeeze works (with both opponents guarding spades) then ruffing a spade would have landed the contract, too. And if LHO has 5-6 spades (or 7, which are the only cases ruffing the spades is wrong) then RHO would most probably be able to guard the red suits making the double squeeze inexistent. However, ruffing the diamond and: If diamonds are 4-3 and the queen hasn't appeared: discard on the heart and ruff a spade If the Queen doesn't appear but the opening leader held 5: play for the double squeeze for show/appearing in the newspaper or ruff the spade to make your contract (RHO is then probably more likely to have at least 3 spades, however if he throws a aspade you have to try the newspaper) If the Queen appears, draw trumps... seems better
  18. Yeah, double. I have a trick and I expect partner to have another.
  19. What would make you think RHO has KJx in hearts and what wouldn't? I mean, what does it depend on?, Would you always play RHO for KJx, no matter the bidding?
  20. One of the concerns after partner opens NT is to have him play most of the hands. The system BobElliot mentioned does pretty fine in that area, only letting responder play when he has 4♠ and 5♥.
  21. This usually happens. If you have two trump suits to choose from, it is usually better to play on the bad suit fit.
