  1. I'm leading a diamond. If partner had QJx he could have played x-J or J-Q, so I believe x-Q could only be from Qx. Besides, why would TC put the ♣7 on the table?
  2. I blame South, if s/he push them to 6...
  3. 3♦ is probably the 'correct' bid, as it is forcing (?) and will let you bid 4♥ in a next round having shown the strength of your hand.
  4. What do you take from the lack of -intervention- of the opponents?
  5. Vul vs NV ♠AQT9x ♥K87x ♦A8x ♣x 1♣ - 1♠ - Pa - 2♠ Pa - ???
  6. 3NT, but I might have bid 1♠ instead of 2♦...
  7. [hv=n=sqxxhkjt9dktxxcxx&s=saj9xxhaxdaqjckqx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You're playing 6♠. (At one point your partner bid 5♠, trump asking, and you bid 6♠, as you need points). A diamond is led against you. You win the ace, play ♥A and ♥ to the King. No queen in sight. How do you play spades? At the other table the lead was a heart, won in dummy with the Jack, will you deal differently with the hand?
  8. ♠Void ♥Jxxx ♦AKTxxxx ♣Tx Partner opens 2♣ FG. You play Kick back Key Card for minors and it goes: 2♣ - 2♥ - 3♦ - Pa 3♥ - Pa - 4♦ - Pa 4♥ - Pa - 5♥ - Pa 6♥ - Pa - ??? Opponents alert 2♥ as natural (you're on a side of the curtain with the 2♥ bidder). What's your bid? After making up your mind (be honest) read this:
  9. ♦8 was third so no way to make it.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong but tossing the ♥Q from the table will lead to: [hv=n=shxdxcx&w=sqhjdct&e=sthk9dc&s=sjhatdc]399|300|[/hv] And no squeeze as East can throw the spade and South is squeezed first.
  11. I got to 3♠ on: ♠Kxxx ♥QJx ♦xx ♣AQxx ♠AQxx ♥xx ♦KJT ♣xxxx ♥K was led by the player who had shown a strong hand with diamonds. He continued with two more rounds of hearts and I tossed a club. I drew trumps in three rounds ending in my hand (2-3) and played a small club-♣J-♣Q-small club. The opening leader made a mistake, though I could have made the same play, which was?
  12. I'm playing a team match of 198 boards. With 64 boards to go we are trailing by 100 imp's. I was starting to feel the 'need' to get imp's and so got to 6♦ in a 3NT hand: ♠9xx ♥Qx ♦A?xx ♣AJxx ♠AK ♥A98x ♦QT9x ♣KQx 1♦-2NT-6♦. A diamond was led with the comment:'I don't think this will give anything away'. Needless to say I went down. The ♦8 might have been the ? card on the table and if so I could have made the contract, do you see how? By the way, we're down 140 imp's, 48 boards to go, do you have any advice?
  13. Would you duck the first club knowing you have probably 9 tricks if hearts behave? Would you like a spade switch? Yeah, it's the correct line but few seemed to make it...
  14. Didn't read it was a third hand opening...
  15. What do you teach? And Happy Birthday...
  16. On Wednesday my partner opened 2NT and I puppet-staymanned with: ♠Qxx ♥9xx ♦AQxx ♣7xx Wrong, I know but I was on automatic as usual. My partner held: ♠Kxx ♥AKTxx ♦Kx ♣AKx Opening leader held 5 clubs to the QJT so I expected 3NT to make 9 tricks only. Some people apparently (I'll have to check the scores again) scored 10 tricks in NT, not abnormal, but I thought 4♥ making would be quite a good score, actually turning out to be 6 out of 11... That was an exception, I know, but I just thought I'll share it.
  17. I don't think it's standard, the chosen card pretty much depends on the contract and bidding.
  18. 3♥. Double. 3NT. In that order of preference.
  19. I'm of the idea that: 1m 1M 3m should be forcing and show at least 17 HCP. I know a hand as: ♠Kx ♥Ax ♦AKQTxx ♣KJx could be opened with 2NT or bid 1♦-1M-3NT. Burt how about more unbalanced hands? What if the minor is not THAT good? How do you play it?
  20. Probably 'cause I'm the creator.
