  1. I believe the responsive double denies having 4 spades, if you have 4 spades you bid them (partner is supposed to have 4, usually). However, being this a double at the 2 and then 3 level, I'm not so sure of what I just said.
  2. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=saqtxhxdaxxxcjt9x&s=sxxhqjdkqjxca7xxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] After this bidding sequence: 1♣ 1♥ X 3♥* 4♦ 4♥ 5♣ Pass Pass Pass** *Barrage **A little hesitation before the final pass You receive a ♥A lead and a spade continuation on which you, of course, play the queen, winning the trick. To draw trumps you: a. Play the Jack from the table and if it is not covered: a.1. Let it ride, and if it loses: a.1.1. to the Queen, finesse again a.1.2. to the Queen, play for the drop next a.1.3. to the King, finesse again a.1.4. to the King, play for the drop next a.2. Play the Ace and another trump b. Just play a small trump to the Ace and another trump. c. Bank on your table presence to guess the position Bonus question: Why did West think before passing 5♣?
  3. I wouldn't have bid 3♠.
  4. Asians run the grocery store, amirite?

    lol

I wouldn't use lol in actual speech, I'd laugh instead!
  7. We got to game showing values not just pre-empting, I think it should be forcing.
  8. It should, but it's more of a MP's double. You're not even sure they're going down on a spade lead (you didn't open or overcall 1♠) but you believe it's better than a heart lead (the 'normal' lead).
  9. That's not a useful answer if you're trying to decide WHAT to agree to. Related factors that may influence your partnership's decision: If you insist on 4 card support for the raise, then 1N should seldom be the rebid with a singleton in responder's suit. Conversely, if you would like to often rebid 1N with a singleton in responder's suit then at least some opening hands with 3 card support need to raise. How satisfied are you with your checkback methods after 1m 1M; 1N? How about your game tries after 1m 1M; 2M (see http://www.freewebs.com/juniorsbbo/majorra...erminoropen.htm )? It takes a little more compication to handle the 3 card raises and singleton 1N rebids than the more conservative options. link is not working
  10. Does that version include the changes made so far to the 2007 laws?
  11. 1NT, there are ways to play with a 5-3 fit and spades should be 4-4 as no one has overcalled.
  12. [hv=d=n&v=e&s=shkq9xxxdkqjtxxxc]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] I actually held that hand last night... The bidding goes: 1♣ 1♦ 1♠ Pass 3♠ 4♥ 4NT Pass 5♠ 6♦ 6♠ Pass Pass ??? What's your bid with this hand?
  13. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=saj9xxhj9xxdxxckx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] The bidding goes: 1♣ 1♦ 1♠ 2♥ 2♠ 3♦ 3♠ 4♥ Pass Pass ??? What do you bid?
  14. Wrong. After: 2♦ Pass 2♥ Pass 2♠ X Pass 3♥ Pass 4♥ 4♠ Pass Pass ??? Do you double then? Would you even have said 4♥?
  15. All Vulnerable you get this hand: [hv=d=n&v=b&s=sxhj8xxdkqxcaj98x]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] And your RHO opens the bidding with 2♦ (Multi, either a weak 2 in a Major or 22+ balanced). You Pass, LHO bids 2♥ (pass or correct), your partner passes and RHO bids 2♠, showing a weak 2 Spades opening type of hand. And you? 2♦ Pass 2♥ Pass 2♠ ??? Another question: let's say you double and your RHO bids 4♠ and partner passes again, would you double again then?
  16. Let's say dummy is good. I play one of those cards and instead of discarding I trump (ruff). I notice it after the card is on the table so it has been 'played'. It is not the card I intended to play (of course!) but it's the one played, could I change it? What is an inadvertently designated card? Is it only from dummy? Is that card inadvertently designated because I mistook it from my hand and played it?
  17. That doesn-t favor the Norwegians. Why would they act on such menace?
  18. I'll comment after a good translation, too many unknown words. However it looks like Bocchi was the 'bad one' not all of Italy.
