was curious as to how this works, as far as I know i have not quit any tournaments other than forgetting about time to start a game, but during one month in July, Aug I would sub in ACBL games sometimes for whole game most of the time just for one round or board. when you look at the results is says you withdrew from tourney. when I did this and started playing couple of months later noticed that I couldnt log into free indy game do to completion rate being too low. if this is from subbing then something should be done to correct that type of problem. thanks

read this over on BridgeWinners and there was a link to ACBL hearings on suspicious activity. https://www.acbl.org/conduct-and-ethics/under-discipline/ethical-oversight-hearing-reports/ it was interesting almost all have occurred since we started more online activity during covid crisis.

GIB has bid this way for years, and its amazing how many 4-2 fits make. In games where you dont have best hand you can show both majors when 3-3
-
not worried too much about it, just the TDs were a pain in the @@@

there are aleast 4 different types of bots I believe....the old bbb.exe allows you to allow the amount thinking time that Gib TAKES. The other GIBs depend on wether they are free or how much you pay for....the weekly or monthly rental bots are not as advanced as the tournament bots. Bidding room bots I am not aware of what their level is but what is interesting in the bidding room you can change your bid and see what happens with GIBs on the same hand

you have the boss suit and you really dont want a spade lead from partner, you can always balance later if possible.
-
yes double dummy solver from birdge captain will show all the makeable contracts, its a good tool but not exact science because it doesnt take into account human interacton on the play or defense
-
the other day I was a sub in a tourney since they were a full table short. TDs kept telling us to post ccard, but I couldnt cause i was using the old *.exe version. I logged out and then did the flash version, could not do it there either. only way i could was buy going to the browser non flash version(html5)...The TDs couldnt get it straight there are about 3-5 versions of the software out there.

most people would have bid 1♠ to start with

Double, Diamond or ?

double you have support for 3 suits -
question is if you overcall 1♥ how will you ever get it across to partner that you have 5♠s.....if you rebid ♠s partner will assume you just have four

may he go with that leather jacket -
hey 6-5 doesn't bother me if you cue bid, partner still has options if they pass the cue. I think bidding 1♥ is ok for defense potential but we may still have the boss suit so I am favor of describing my hand as majors just 1000 hand sim with east having 4-6♦3-5♣12-17 hcp the odds are still 80% making 8 tricks in♥s and 55% of 8 tricks in ♠s.....let partner decide what to do in competition

html5: bidding explanation prompt keeps reappearing
pigpenz replied to DJNeill's topic in Suggestions for the Software
yes it happens all the time sometimes users get ancy and call TD why you are trying to type in explanation before you bid another problem its very easy to hit wrong bid after you type in explanation might be better to just alert with nothing and wait till they ask -
if i open i would rebid 2 spades to show min, but i dont open this
-
if not robust will changes the odds so after above post changed the hands to 11 facing 13 the best lead is a ♦ Previous constraints were base on normal bidding one hand being 10-12 and opener being 13-16 since it accepted invite, opener should be more in points or longer in diamonds if bidding game
-
depends on the game your are playing leads with best chance of beating is small heart or a small club and even then it is only about 26% Q♠ 3.67 tricks A♠ 3.59 tricks small ♣ 3.55 tricks generated 1000 hands using Bob Richardsons Lead captain
-
i started my sims conservativly, with just a 55 hand the jacked it up to 66 and more points there will always be hands where it can make but in reality its low low percentages the 6sxx makes if it does make it makes
-
ran it again doing 10000 hands with lead captain if it makes 6 spades just not your day in the long run you will come out ahead by passing, its statistics the only thing I found different was that as the hand became 6-6 for cue bidder the % for 6hearts making went down about 15 %, but the % for 6 spades making were still almost nihil.
-
ran this through a simulator.....even giving the cue bid hand a 6-6 hand and the responder to the heart opener 0-5 hcp, the percentages the one can make 6 spades is only about 1%, but yes I would lead k spades
-
the odds favor beating 6♠XX if it makes it makes thats bridge

What does it mean when your partner raises 1NT to 4D
pigpenz replied to RufusVan's topic in Novice and Beginner Forum
alot of people play it as showing hearts with no interest in going further, that way when playing jacoby transfers 2 ♦ to show hearts followed by a bid of 4♥ is meant as a mild slam try -
Precision 2D 10-15 not allowed in ACBL Open Chart
pigpenz replied to steve2005's topic in Simple Rulings
i have played this for 40 yrs and played it 10-13 hcp some TDs dont like it when you open with 9
