  1. In acbl it used to be announced "skip bid please wait", but with bid boxes that seems to be gone but it sounds like since a comment was made boxes werent being used here. There was some damage done here by the comment off to the Appeals Committee on this one
  2. This is the hand i held when i bid 5nt....would you really do something else? I wouldnt think so [hv=pc=n&s=sakqj632ha7654dac]133|100[/hv] Maybe 7♣ if it it shows solid suit may make more likely to be in 7nt after ♦ cue bid
  3. yes its amazing how many times you open 1NT with a five card major and they lead your suit  probably more beneficial over 2NT opening or 2♣/2NT rebid
  4. in alot of instances the TD can use GIB or deep finesse analyzer to determine if result is valid now if it requires dropping a stiff King offside i dont think so, I know when I run games in free mode I go back and look at where hand left off and use GIB. You can blame it on the time constraints back in the old days these games used to be 6-15 minute rounds(maybe 12) but games were every 90 minutes but when they went to speed ball you have lost almost 30 minutes per game, I dont usually play in them goes opps play to slow so your last board is almost always in jeopardy on not being completed, but usually my experience is TDs usually do a good job of providing equity
  5. you are playing with the best partner in the field! First time you have played with him, so nothing fancy 2♠ showed 2/3 top honors, and you are playing 1430 RKCB
  6. Any ideas on this I think maybe 7♣ is correct [hv=pc=n&n=shkqjt2dkqjcakqjt&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=2cp2sp3hp5np]133|200[/hv]
  7. Ok The west opp alerted and explained without being asked too So his partner then knew it was not the correct number of aces
  8. op alerted when not asked so the cat was out of the bag the 4♣ bidder meant it as Gerber, The 4 ♣ bidder now knowing his partner didnt respond with the aces he had took a flier at 6♦.....if there had bid no alert he would have been bidding a slam off 3 Aces.
  9. [hv=d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1np4cp4hp6dppp]133|100|4clubs alerted as transfer[/hv] at a recent section in Northern California this auction occurred West alerted his partners bid as transfer,East now bid 6♦. at end of auction since I was on lead called TD and said there may be a UI on the hand.....The TD looked at east hand and said he is allowed to bid his hand. It was the last hand of a two session event. than night started thinking about it, if there were no alert East was bidding a slam that was off 3 aces since his bid was meant as Gerber. Broght it to TDs attention on morning of swiss,he moved board to 4NT making 6. Asked him why he didnt do anything at time he said he just assumed they were going to have an accident on the hand!!!! We were the number one seed are way, I wonder how many times things like this happen to pairs that really arent aware of the laws??? so like the previous topic "ethical Violation" when talking to the TD I said he need to address it with the offending side to at least make it a learning process for them as they were both life masters with about 800 points, which doenst necessarily mean much anymore but does show some experience
  10. boy there is UI board could be thrown out and procedural penalty against offending side -3 imps not much difference than the actual result which was a push, but there was UI on the hand and that has to be addressed!
  11. generally there are no right answers at bridge sometimes you are lucky sometimes your arent
  12. by CPU to you mean card playing by underassumption
  13. was playing a variation of Aces Scientific or 2/1 game force so 2♠ showed 2/3 top honors....so 3♣should show 5+ suit with top honors so I was thinking on kcb if partner has4 keycards then the grand should be ok
  14. partner had heart support 3 of them 5♥could be set three but requires underlead of an Ace 4NT-2 and 3NT-1 are best par scores
  15. had this hand come up in Robot ACBL GAME http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?myhand=M-14630834-1357773601 on play of A♣ to dummy west played Q♣ those declarers made 7 or 8 tricks I played J♣ to King then hooked back down one others played to King then hooked to jack down one so I thought it was odd that GIB would play q♣ on Ace followed by low club to King
  16. I guess knowing East is a passed hand would you bid 3NT with the west hand? Probably with a GIB yes, since they tend to pass some good 12hcp hands that humans have a tendency to open. so maybe GIB is playing that since partner didnt show 11-12hcp by bidding 2NT it downgrading its hand.
  17. I know when I have bid pre empt to five level after GIB pre empts it also has bid six on auctions like 2x or 3x pass 5x
  18. had this hand come up in bidding session on BBO was wondering how other would bid this [hv=pc=n&s=sakqj5432hkj2dcj2&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=2cp2sp3cp]133|200[/hv] I just bid 4NT as I thought this would be about only way to bid grand even though it breaks rules on bidding 4NT on void
  19. actually on this particular hand 3NT is down one with 4NT being a good save against 4♠ question is how will partner interpet 3♠ if he doesnt have spade stopper and you bid 4♥ over his minor suit bid
  20. generally if you want to poll other peers, if would be nice to not be influenced by what you see with the other hands....just the auction and the hand involved opposite the partner who made the BIT.
  21. when I ran appeals at the Reno Regional back in 1991 they were genrally held in private I dont know what would happen if someone asked to observe.....generally I would assume it would ok to observe until the committee goes into discussion with each other...as sometimes comments might not want to be made public or at least go on record. usually after the committee meets they go over the results with both sides explaining their deciscion sometimes this helps and other times it doesnt smooth things over. I was allowed at District Recorder to observe other Appeals Committees
  22. Leo i find that GIB always wants to bid game or bid at the 3 level when you are a passed hand and make a cappeletti call as a passed hand of course this doesnt happen in best hand tournies
  23. i have lots of time when trying to figure out which way to find Q they will go ahead and play it also, generally occurs on rented gibs by month
