  1. probably wouldnt help with ipad, cause havent found a way to hover over bid to find out what it might be before I make it when using that device
  2. I was always taught from seventies that it was sort of a western que bid asking partner to bid 3NT with a stopper
  3. nothing is ever obvious to GIB thats why is so futile to worry about it
  4. probably Lot of hands where 3NT might make
  5. yes I noticed that when I looked at results I have noticed at time when playing in main room with bots I tend to have the bot that makes the only bid against me I dont know if that means others are using downloadable client or not http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?myhand=M-3855724-1355645121 on this one I had only bot who bid 4♠ and I was only one who made 5♦ other bots only bid 3♠ but north bid 2♦ not 1NT
  6. J Lall probably came up with it when he turned 25
  7. I always thought it might be better for there to be some sort of announcement that you can click on and see what the standard 2/1 CC is (which I assume is GIB since robots reaplace players). yes tournies are free but that is about all they are is free. no one plays GIB defense to NT (cappelletti) so you always get passed in 2♣ or 2♦ I usually play on an ipad when I do play these so not sure if you can see what your bids are before you make them like you can when you play with GIB in web based version, if this option is not available maybe it should be so people can see what their bids SHOULD MEAN....my ipad is getting tired of getting thrown against the wall  tournies maybe free ipads are not
  8. http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?myhand=M-3858309-1355645121 dont really understand this one I guess GIBs claim buttom was broken if there really is a simulator where was it? It could just claim but instead of claiming it pulled five rounds of trumps instead of just ruffing 2 hearts this was from the browser version of GIB,flash which I thought was supposed to be better than the downloadable version but not the dollar a day version
  9. they way they played their positive responses it showed five card suit and points, 5+hcp so 2♦ was negative the main problem with their openings was if they were two suited but those type of hands shouldnt really open two clubs even though alot of weak players do
  10. yes i would take as take out partner can convert if he so chooses An Airzona expert I play with this shows doubleton 2NT=4♣5♦ 3♣=5♣4♦
  11. I always liked the ROMEX method where the major suit didnt have to be solid, when that way there was a good second suit responses were based on controls in steps signing off in suit showed 0-2 controls first step 3 third step 4 this then allowed opener to use asking bids frequency of this type of namyats hand is more likely then a solid 8 card major
  12. so if we make the negative double if partner bids 3♣ are we worth a 3♠ call then
  13. I understand the logic of what GIB is doing preparing to show a limit raise with 3 card support but I dont now if its totally practical, if the six card suit was a minor none of us would complain about that
  14. for me I would give this a 3 on a scale of 10 not really relevant but i guess some people wanted something different hey or maybe we could change the back of the cards so we could have naked men or ladies like some of those old risque cards,,,,just joking of course
  15. I loved playing two suited two bids 2♦=♥♦ or♦♣ 2♥=♣♥ or ♥♠ 2♠=♠ with ♣or ♦ you can pick your own range you want to play for values you have a lot of leeway since partner couldnt open this was a modication from Ron Gerards article on one two three suiters in Bride World back in 1980 ACBL said we had to have a known anchor suit so we modified it to make it a weak two with a five card suit that has either a 4/5 side suit. that was ok with the powers to be The HOG(Ron Anderson) complained to the ACBL back at the nationals in in Fresno 1980 that he didnt have ample time to come up with a defense to the 123 two suiter bid that Ron Gerard and Larry Cohen were playing....can you imagine the HOG complaining
  16. [hv=pc=n&s=sak5432h32d754c72&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1h2dpp3cp3hpp]133|200[/hv] had this hand come up in club game I bid 3♥ we took ten tricks dont have values for free bid didnt really like a negative double though I am sure GIB would make one what are most peoples thoughts on this type of hand
  17. gotta love that GIB if GIB were a real person who would have been shot at the bridge table along time ago I had a hand yesterday where GIB has the setting trick in trumps holding Q10♠ with a couple of exit cards he puts me to the test by leading the 10 back, Holding KX♠ I played small ouch ...presto making now
  18. god help us if that happens,I could take it if you have two humans playing in a tournament against 2 robots but GIB just does too many weird things on defence
  19. it seems like the two day swiss championship for western conference draws a pretty big field for their four session event
  20. I have played with people when they open two clubs you are allowed to pass their 2h 2s 3c 3d responses to 2d
  21. another problematic bidding sequence is that even when you are a passed hand and overcall 1NT with a cappelletti bid as a passed hand GIB still likes to jump to the 3 level in a major or even bid game, needs to put the breaks on so it definintely needs to differentiate between an imp and a matchpoint call
  22. almost could do a full round robin where everyone plays everyone else. thats what would have been best in my mind
  23. the problem with opening these type of hands 2♣ is that alot of times you may not get to show your suit till the five level
  24. Having played against Twineham, Hodges, Laycock, and Spaulding -The overcall structure in the late eighties early nineties, it is a very effective structure especially the jump overcalls. My main concern is that most people dont run into it enough to have any idea of what to do against it which gives them a distinct advantage when using it.
  25. I think in acbl land it still is close to pushing it generally it should be Nine Winners or Four loser hand you could give your partner both minor suit kings and still not have any play for ten or nine tricks in some cases on Brideguys.com Rick Beye ACBL gave some examples [hv=pc=n&n=sakt9865432h7dac7]133|100[/hv] this would be ok but this next one wouldnt [hv=pc=n&n=skqjt987642hjdjck]133|100[/hv] anything following between these falls into a grey area, He also states that at the club level most likely anything goes but at an ACBL tournament it would be up to the TD, if the intent is to deceive your opps on your strength then a penalty may apply
