  1. on this particular hand there was not way as your left hand opp bid 4♠ lots of times with weak players you get these hands where they balance in a live auction, say 3♣ or 3♦ in this case 3♥ so how do we differentiate between a partner with a good hand and one who is just making some noise?
  2. yes it worked on the beta and in the final if you are using another browser it wont automatically make it work with IE if you installed flash say in firefox, you will still need to install flash for IE.
  3. Larry Cohens site also has some good information on this. he states he wishes he had a dollar for every time players got this wrong.
  4. my question on this hand is with 7 solid hearts how do we let partner in on the party it would seem there has to be a way to let partner have a decision on whether to bid 5♥ so what action lets partner know what type of hand we have. 3♠ could be some type of solid 7 card suit, still chance for 3NT small but some chance 3♥ or 4♥ which one gives partner the best chance to come to the party
  5. thanks did find the information on the question
  6. even though the information given would help declarer to play the hand? so defending side is going to be penalized for one of them not knowing their system by misalerting?
  7. yes i have been using this on ipad for last month, with version 3.5 works fine on that
  8. Stephen had mailed BBradley couple of weaks ago about this way of posting hands from my hands on bbo, this is by far the easiest and the arguments for adjusting the size of the paost are important also...I believe its the HV argument for size of post. what I was wondering about since its a link to data in my hands does the post eventually time out since the clean up data on my hands after a period of time?
  9. [hv=pc=n&e=s43hakqt643djc432&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1sp2s]133|200[/hv] best tactical approach to this type of hand 3♠ or 3,4,or 5♥
  10. [hv=pc=n&w=sa74hkqt3dkt3ck74&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=2d3s]133|200[/hv] curious as to how others would handle this one two diamonds is weak two, agreement 2/3 top honors
  11. had a hand come up yesterday auction was;[hv=d=e&v=e&b=6&a=1nd2dp2hp3hppp]133|100[/hv] on my opening lead i informed delcarer that there had been wrong information given on the double over 1NT was stated as single suited hand but was either minors or majors two suiter. by providing information if declarer doesnt ask what your bid meant doesnt it also still provide UI to you partner whether declarer asks or doesnt aks what your bid means. in this case declarer didnt care to know, but now my partner is aware of what my bid should have been.

so more or less it then goes to the TD to look at the line of play up to that point and then determine if there is a line of play where Declarer can make rest of tricks(show up at trick 13) or opp not being able to ruff in and declarer having to play the trump at trick 13. the case as it was presented to me was the claim was made after trick 10 and there was an oustanding trump delcarer had abandoned pulling trumps several tricks earlier. If I was TD i would do above some TD's(local) believe non offending side should be given a trick regardless(unless above applies) some TD's say declarer cant do anything stupid(whatever that maybe...as forgetting to pull outstanding trump falls into this)
  13. actually I can see what GIB is doing holding 6 cards in opps overcall partner is sure to have fit in one those suits Hearts or Spades. He passed one spade, now its up to the other GIB I guess. the other GIB East should maybe bid 2 Spades
  14. Flight A teams Santa Rosa Regional 1992 one of my partners was on the committee, Jean Michell from Orinda,CA opp lead 10 from KJ10x(x) their leads were marked as standard.....so J was circled for this holding any way result was down two instead of one at time of lead asked if leads were standard and they said yes. Jean...at dinner told me committee felt that a player of my level should have been able to handle the situation, and that it was ok for a partnership to break from their understanding....say leading J for QJ to fool delcarer
  15. I would think you could almost do it like a fouled board the scores stand on those who played against them and avg or avg plus for those not playing this pair

I thought about it but I thought I was sort of implying declarer had played other tricks with out pulling the outstanding trump....so it was not up to the TD to determine if declarer had forgotten about the trump.
  17. I had a ruling like this at regional in Santa Rosa in Flight A teams lead from interior sequence like that was not what was marked on card. committee ruled that I was experienced enough to sort out if it was problem or not, and their partnership was allowed to break from what was on their card for leads.
  18. probably the easiest way to look at this hand is to just present the south hand and the bidding with the other hands not being seen.

keep running into this debate with some local TD's they all feel that declarer is still allowed to make his tricks since he cant do anything stupid....I feel the LAW states...that it is not up to TD to determine if delcarer has forgotten about trump being outstanding since he made no statement on his claim and now that TD is called he is being made aware of it. only way I could see not giving non offending side a trick is in situation where declarer say after trick ten played 2 tricks and defender had to follow to those two tricks allowing declarer on trick 13 to play his trump pulling last trump. thanks
  20. generally in ACBL events when matchpoint events used to be large before the advent of 50 brackets of KO's the only game in town were the pairs events. generally 3,6,9 were seeds with table 3 being the top seed.
  21. yes I fully understand that but sometimes I dont think some players who are newer or less experienced fully understand that. DD is done by the Rabbi if there are 4 stiff Kings off side that you should drop for 7NT then thats par, I guess  I just wonder if anyone has done a detailed analysis or the par results versus the actual results
  22. sort of my sentiments also you really dont have anything to contribute on this hand other than the club honors(QJ)
  23. nothing wrong with 2♥ i Have seen some that play constructive at 8-10HCP I would probably make a game try with the other hand
  24. had this hand come up was wondering how most would bid this type of hand?[hv=pc=n&s=sakq4hakqjdq864ca&n=s8632h65dat32ck42&d=s&v=n&b=15&a=2cp2dp3np6nppp]266|200[/hv]
  25. I was wondering, cause to me it looks like alot times when we bid and then have to lead at game or higher level the trick we tend to lose is in the unbid minor. Was curious if anyone else had noticed this.
