MP's[hv=pc=n&s=s432haj65432d32c2&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1np2d(transfer)p2hp]133|200[/hv] From a discussion at the bar. Someone said that 3NT is more likely to make than 4H. What is your opinion?

Bidding over a weak 2 or Muiderberg

I'm trying to convince my partner that balancing with this hand is not without risk, but passing is more risky. This doesn't help :) -
Bidding over a weak 2 or Muiderberg
kgr replied to kgr's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
No, the bidding at the table was (2♠)-AP. West had ♠?xx (I think Axx) ♥KT9xxx ♦ ♣xxxx East's Muiderberg was off-shape: 6=2=4=1 -
How should the bidding go?
kgr replied to kgr's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
RHO had ♥Kxxxxxx and♦AQx. The only contract that could make was 3NT. - South had a maximum 1NT, but thought that 3♣ could be bid on distribution without extras. Therefore he choose to bid 3♦ and not 3♥, 3NT or 4♣. - North rebid 4C, but maybe 3S is better? - South now showed a cue with 4H, thinking that his hand was now maximum for his bidding. - North didn't expect a 4cC by South and did bid 5D. -

Play 3D; look over my shoulder to help

Thanks all for the answers. I didn't like to play Spades myself from this combination, which seems to be an error on this hand. -

The only thing somehow related is inverted minors -
My intention of this post is seeing if there is anything I should do better. Or even if there are any more conclusion I could draw at any stage. Maybe this is a boring hand and there is no more in it, but I was an uncomfortable play. I'm South, all other players are Jack; so comments on 2NT bid are not helping anyone MP's [hv=pc=n&s=sk654haj96dkj76c5&w=s973hkq2daqt5ct74&n=sj2h543d9842cak92&e=saqt8ht87d3cqj863&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=ppp1dp2n(Diamond%20support%3B%205-9HCP)p3dppp]399|300[/hv] opps play udca 1) West leads ♥K (East ♥8). I wondered if it would be best to duck this and hope that West continues ♥. Playing ♥9 is probably not going to help for that? I took ♥A Opps have 20 pnts and they are 10-10 or 11-9; West already showed 5 2) It looks like I have to cross to dummy now, so I played a ♣ to ♣A. I didn't really like to 'cut' my communication to dummy, but I had no other option?(♣5-♣7-♣A-♣8). I didn't really look at opps cards. If I would then I know now that clubs are probably 5-3. 3) ♣A was my last direct entry to dummy, but opps will probably play ♣ at some time or I can go to dummy with a ruff. So I don't cash ♣K yet (I would also not know what to discard). It looked best to play trump? ♦2-♦3-♦J-♦Q. West already showed 7 pnts, unlikely that he has another A. 4)♣T-♣K-♣3-♠4 Not 100% clear what I had to discard, but ♠ looked best. Taking ♣K looked obvious, ducking and ruffing would give me a problem for the next trick. 5) I played another ♦ without a clear plan on what to do next. It looked clear to play a ♦ to the K. Oops: East discarded ♠8; => 3♦ -4

HESO: (High Even, Second Odd). From a sequence we lead highest from an even number of cards and second from an odd number of cards. We play Obvious switch, and lavinthal on all first cards. Therefor we very seldom give parity and HESO helps to get an idea of the distribution BUNI: Bicolor and UNIcolor overcalls. e.g: (1S)-2C = 4cH and longer clubs, this is too much too explain in a short post. It increases the number of hands on which you can compete.

Full hand:: [hv=pc=n&s=sat9hq43daq5432cq&w=s543hak87dkjt7cAj&n=skqjh962d98ckt842&e=s8762hjT5d6c97653&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=p1d1nd2c2dppp]366|300[/hv] (Opps play udca) LHO leads his partners suit: ♣A-♣2-♣9-♣Q ♥A-♥2-♥5-♥4 ♥K-♥6-♥T-♥3 ♥8-♥9-♥J-♥Q You can make by cashing the spades and ruff one club in the process, then play a ♦ to the 9 in dummy.

Suppose 2♣ is 5+ card. (With a balanced hand RHO will pass and RHO will RDBL)

I did go down and think I should have found this: [hv=pc=n&s=sat9hq43daq5432cq&n=skqjh962d98ckt842&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=p1d1nd2c2dppp]266|200[/hv] (Opps play udca) LHO leads his partners suit: ♣A-♣2-♣9-♣Q ♥A-♥2-♥5-♥4 ♥K-♥6-♥T-♥3 ♥8-♥9-♥J-♥Q You have lost 3 tricks to LHO, what is the best continuation? Edit: Suppose 2♣ is 5+ card. (With a balanced hand RHO will pass and RHO will RDBL)

the butler brings 4 spades and 5 diamonds
kgr replied to kgr's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
thanks for the answer. These were both hands: [hv=pc=n&n=sxhqjxxxdakxxxxcx&s=sa5hTdqj864ca8642&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1hp2d(10+%20%5Bnot%202/1%21%5D)4s5dp(BIT)pp]233|200|IMPs [/hv] Result: 5D+2 (I played small ♥ to me ten and RHO had AK). If RHO would really bid 6S when I bid 6D then 5D is a better result. Opps could make 5S. -

Not sure that he really would, but he told that he would bid 6S if I would have bid 6D. -

No fp for us. My partner suggested to use 4NT as extras, 5D as just distribution. -
IMPs at clubevening. LHO is good, RHO not (client and sponsor) I'm not sure about vulnerability, so comment if it makes a difference. We play kind of SA, 2♦ forcing, but not GF. [hv=pc=n&s=sa5hTdqj864ca8642&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1hp2d(10+%20%5Bnot%202/1%21%5D)4s5dp(BIT)]133|200|IMPs [/hv] RHO thought some time and then passed. What is your bid? And what if RHO bids 5♠ or passes quickly? Bonus question :) : What would 4NT iso 5♦ be?
-
I did bid 7 and that was no success. Partner had ♠AKQxxx ♥xxx ♦J ♣xxx A club lead by East, East had a 4c♦ and West had ♥K. I was thinking that 6 could be down if 7 can't make, but thinking more: this is less important at MPs, -100 is still better than -200 (or -300)

Club tournament, MP's Not a strong field, but having a very bad session. repeated question about repeated control
kgr replied to kgr's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
We don't play Turbo...Do you think it is best then if the repeated cue shows first control or 1st and 2nd? -
repeated question about repeated control
kgr replied to kgr's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Thanks for mentioning. I changed 2D to 2H (1H)-Pas-DBL The bid between brackets is a bid from the opps. No more brackets later means that the opps do not bid anymore. :( -
Can you also use your influence to get a separate forum for play/defend posts? (these doesn't read good on my smart phone, they are also better suited when I have more time then one cigarette).
