  1. Thank you for the answers. South did bid 3♣ and West did bid 4♠. North had ♠AQTxx and didn't DBL. With a 2♣ bid from South, DBL by North is easy.
  2. Thanks you for the answers. East had ♠A. Q: Also I West had ♠A then he might have rebid 3♥ over 2NT?
  3. All good club level players, but not experts: IMPs (teams)[hv=pc=n&s=skj64haj95d752ck5&n=s75h4dkqj83cqjt72&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1c1h2dp2np3nppp]266|200[/hv] Another hand sent by mail to me. You can comment on the bidding and the play, but the question is which opp has the ♠A and ♠Q: 1) LHO leads a small ♥ for ♥T of RHO and your ♥J 2) ♣K played and taken by LHO with ♣A. 3) LHO plays ♥K, RHO is not following ♥ anymore (it was not told in the email what he discarded). You take ♥A. 4) ♦ for ♦K and RHO takes DA. 5) RHO returns a small ♠. Do you play ♠K or ♠J. => Given LHO's bidding, do you think it is more likely that he has: ♠A??=♥KQxxxxx=♦???=♣A?? or: ♠Q??=♥KQxxxxx=♦???=♣A??
  4. IMPs (teams) [hv=pc=n&s=shj632dakckjt9642&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1hp1s]133|200[/hv] What is your bid? (and if you start low: when do you bid again, e.g. if 3S comes back?...) I wonder if you consider it best to bid 2♣ or preempt higher and what are your reasons? (This hand was sent by mail to me, but did only contain 12 cards. I added a 7th club, but it is possible that I have to replace it by another card later).
  5. IMP's [hv=pc=n&w=sakqj2hajt82dq3c6&e=st9876hdak96ct874&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=1s2h4sppp]233|200[/hv] I did bid 4♠ and we missed slam. I'm now convinced that 3♥ is better, but it seems that 4♥ is even a better description.
  6. IMP's [hv=pc=n&e=st9876hdak96ct874&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=1s2h]133|200[/hv] Slow or fast?
  7. Is DBL (after 1H-2S) with North hand clear OR is bidding 3D followed by 4C better?
  8. 3S gambling. If brown sticker not allowed then gambling with an opening if that is allowed (a Q next to minor suit).
  9. The hands were the actual hands. [hv=pc=n&s=s975h9752dA2cqT52&n=saj2hakqj64d63cj3&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=p1dd1nd(TO)2d2hppp]266|200|MP's[/hv]
  10. Do you also disagree strongly with the 2nd DBL non-vul at MP's? And do you play it as TO or penalty?
  11. Thank you for the answer. (I recognize the name of 'mikeh' as a good player that gives well thought answers, so I'm always looking forward to an answer of you) This is the 'difficult' part for me. (My first DBL was a try to find the 4-4 fit. It was MPs, at IMP's I would need a bit more.). Do you think that North can bid 2H with 3=4=2=4; or should he always need 4=4 majors or maybe 3=4=1=5. Maybe with 3=4=2=4 North should pass and hope for another DBL of S when South has 4=4 majors.
  12. The hands are only an illustration of my question. I don't remember the correct hands. [hv=pc=n&s=s975hq972d52caT52&n=saj2hakt854d63cqj&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=p1dd1nd(TO)2d2hppp]266|200|MP's[/hv] Note: We tend to DBL + bid new suit with a little less then what is used in America. DBL of South (me) is take-out. You agree with this DBL? My partner (North) thought that 2♥ showed a strong hand (DBL+new suit). I disagreed because I thought that I showed support for at least 2 suits with my DBL. And I think that my partner should have bid 3♥ (because he knows that I have some points and some support).
  13. This hand was also sent to my by a teammate; coming from a match that I didn't play. His comment: "I have not yet found any support for my bid: 1NT". Seems like he does not get a lot of support here. My answer to him: Biggest disadvantage of 1NT is that the wrong hand will play the contract; fi if partner has ♣KJx. My points: 1D: 10 DBL: 8 1NT: 7 Pass: 0 (it seems that I overrated the 1NT bid).
  14. Thank you all for the answers. This hand was send by email by a teammate. I didn't play the match myself. I choose 4♠: I'm not used to open 1♠ this weak & I do not want to open 3♠ at IMPs; and pass is not my style. The actual bidding at the table was (I don't know the hands): Pass-(Pass)-2♣!-(DBL) Alert:2♣=Weak with ♦; Or semi-forcing 2♠-(pass)-pass-(2NT) 3♠-(DBL)-AP Result: 3♠X+1 (I wonder if passing first and then bidding ♠ should logically promise some ♦ support?)
  15. [hv=pc=n&s=sqjt7532hqt5dca53]133|100[/hv] Dealer, Nobody vulnerable at IMPs (teams). What do you open?
  16. [hv=pc=n&s=skt5hak5daq852c52&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1c]133|200|IMP's (teams)[/hv] Nobody Vulnerable at IMPs. What is your call?
  17. Thanks you all for the answers. Bidding was: 1♥-(pass)-1NT-(Pass) 2♥-AP Result: 2♥-4 (-400) At other table the result was 1♥ by East: Result -1 (-50) (Not sure, but I think that Opps at other table played strong Club and 1M showing 13-15 pnts; 1♦ used for all other hands with 10+ pts and bidding probably was: (1♦)-1♥-AP). My partner played this contract and I don't know the full hands (I think she had 11HCP and 3=6=3=1).
  18. Teams; vulnerable [hv=pc=n&s=sjxxhdjxxxckjxxxx]133|100|Teams[/hv] 1♥-(pass)-? 1NT=natural, non-forcing (6-9HCP)
  19. You are bidding a 1st/2nd control and opps DBL. Example: 1S-(p)-2H-(p) 2S-(p)-3S-(p) 3NT-(p)-4C-(DBL) ...-4C-(DBL)-? - RDBL= 1st control C - Pass= Waiting to see if partner can RDBL - 4S= no control C, minimal hand; only if contract will have to be played in this hand. - 4D/H= 3rd control C (CQ or xx), not interested in 1st control C for 7. Trying for 6. ...-4C-(DBL)-p-(p)-? - RDBL= 1st control C - 4D/H= only 2nd control C - 4S= 2nd control C, no control in between suits OR just minimal for previous bidding Are these agreements best or can we do better? (The example added for clarity. Maybe you would never bid 4S as opener in this example, but I'm most interested in the generic agreements).
  20. Thanks you all; N-S hands and bidding FYI. Note: I know think that 3♠ is a better bid, given our system [hv=pc=n&s=saqjt432h6d32caj2&n=shkjxxxxdtxxckt9x&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1sp1n(6-9NF%20%5Bincludes%204-7%203cS%5D)p2sppp]233|200[/hv] 1NT=6-9, non-forcing (If you bid 2♣ after 1NT then this shows a strong hand (16+) and asks partner to describe his hand). Teams (IMPs)
  21. This is what we play after 1S-1NT (I don't think it is really Gazilli?) 1S-1NT - 2C: Asking - 2D/2H: 5-4, NF - 2S: 6c, weak - 2NT: 5cC, 5cS, invite+ - 3C: 5cC, 5cS, weak - 3D/3H: 5-5, game try - 3S: 6cS, game try 1S-1NT 2C - 2D: weak - 2H: 5cH, weak - 2S: 3cS, very weak - 2NT: max, GF, no 3cS, no 5cH - 3C/D: 6-card, need support for 3NT - 3H: max, GF, 6cH - 3NT: max, GF, 5cH
  22. Thank you, I have added 4S as a poll choice
  23. (4C)-DBL-(p)-4D (p)-4H (4C)-DBL-(p)-4D (p)-4S (4D)-DBL-(p)-4H (p)-4S 1D-(4C)-DBL-(p) 4D-(p)-4S Has DBLer slam interest in any of the above sequences or is DBL just flexible and trying to find best game? If DBL does not show slam interest then there is no way to show some slam interest without going above game?
  24. [hv=pc=n&s=saqjt432h6d32caj2&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1sp1n(6-9NF%20%5Bincludes%204-7%203cS%5D)p]133|200[/hv] 1NT=6-9, non-forcing (If you bid 2♣ now then this shows a strong hand (16+) and asks partner to describe his hand). 2♠ or is this good enough to bid 3♠? Edit: Teams (IMPs)
