Thanks a lot! With DT all the example hands should be opened...and probably w/o DT, but with average intermediates any of these hands should be opened? The conclusion is that the rule of 15 is letting you pass too often with this hand...and we would do better to open any hand with 12HCP?
-
I would still open 1NT.
-
I open 1NT: - no aces, 4333, - the good intermediates could warrant an upgrade, but I would not because I have a lot to protect, I think it is important that this hand becomes declarer.
-
Thank you all. Seems like most would follow the rule of 15. (My partner passed at MP's for a bad score.) I wonder what the par score of a simulation would be.
-
In 4th seat after 3 passes and with 12HCP and short spades: Is it best to pass or to bid (or are there other factors that would change this decision, like MPs/IMPs, rest of your system, opps system)? I thought it is best to open because you probably have the majority of the points, but other players think it is best to pass without the master suit. Example: (P)-P-(P)-? Jx=xxx=AQTx=KQxx Jx=xxx=AQTxx=KQx Jxx=xx=AQTx=KQxx Jxx=xx=AQTxx=KQx
-
Same for me.(expect with 2 we bid 6NT; or 6S/7C/7D with an extra honor in the suit bid)
-
Thanks, this was fun. Some comments: - I think it would be better to show all cards immediately after the claim and before hiding them by show results. - Is there an undo (fi after misclick)? - I didn't find how to show the play of FGoded Playing ♦A looses if: ♦x: 12.12% and wins if both: ♦Jx : 16.14% ♣xx: 15.4% Maybe this is not complete (and how do I calculate total %?), but it feels that it is better not to cash ♦A

How To Make East Declarer
kgr replied to eagles123's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Any bid by West should show a ♥-fit. => IMO West should bid 3♦ with nothing to protect in ♣. -
This hand was given to me by teammates. I preferred a ♥-lead, my partner a ♦-lead. I wonder if forum would prefer a lead from Jxx or from Kxx.

[hv=pc=n&s=sxhkxxdj9xcaqjxxx&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=ppp1s2c4sppp]133|200|MP's[/hv] This was the bidding that is given (I would have opened 1♣) 4S, All Vuln, MP's. What do you lead?
-
We have in our system: 1NT-(P)-2C-(DBL) ?: - RDBL: to play - 2D: 3+cD - Pass: no 3cD 1NT-(P)-2C-(DBL) P-(P)-? - RDBL: retransfer D - 2D: to play - Rest: system on.

[hv=pc=n&s=s642ha4dk4cak8642]133|100[/hv] MP's, dealer What do you Call? 1NT=15-17 1♣=2+ Do you prefer to open 1NT with this hand or 1♣?

When do you bid 3H and when 3S?
kgr replied to kgr's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
BTW: against 6♦ opps did lead a small ♠. I played ♠A and continued with ♣AK. Is that best or would you play differently? -
When do you bid 3H and when 3S?
kgr replied to kgr's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Yes, In 1st bidding I wanted to show normal Walsh and therefore GF with ♦-fit 3♠ shows a half-stopper.., so 3♥ would be no ♠-stopper? And both can be real slam interest what you show later if you would continue over 3NT? Is SJx (like in actual hand) ok to bid 3S? -
[hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1cp1d(Walsh)p2cp2hp3dp]133|100[/hv] Edit: 2H is reverse and GF 3♠ is 4th suit forcing. When do you bid 3♥ and when 3♠? Is 3♥ showing points in ♥ and/or is it showing extras and ♦-slam interest? The actual hand and bidding were: [hv=pc=n&s=sa752h2dkj2cakj52&n=sj4hakjtdat764c64&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1c(2+)p1s(T-Walsh%20%5Bxfer%20D%20or%20NT%5D)dr(D-support)p2h(reverse)p3dp3s(4th%20suit)p4c(control%3A1st%20or%202nd)p4h(control)p4np5h(2%20of%205%20w/o%20Q)p6dppp]266|200|IMPs[/hv] Lead: small ♠ You can comment on the bidding (I'm especially interested in 3♠) and recommend a play line.

Yes, that is what I meant

I have the agreement with my partner that when going to slam and with a fit then 6X asks 3th round control to go to 7. Therefore this with be a dangerous hand for us. You need to be sure that you can tell partner to pass 6♦ (or bid 7♦) at some point. And that he knows that you have ♦'s on your own and no ♥'s.I would have bid 6♦ iso 3♠. Afraid that partner will convert ♦ to ♥ if I go to 6♦ in any other way. I agree with this. (P) - 1♥ - (P) - 2♦ (me 2/1) (2♠) - 3♥ - (P) - 3♠ (P) - 4♥ -(P)-5♣ (P) - 5♥-(p)-6♦ Can partner now think you are asking 3th round control for 7♥? I think that I like this. (P) - 1♥ - (P) - 2♦ (me 2/1) (2♠) - 3♥ - (P) - 3♠ (P) - 4♥ -(P)-5♣ (P) - 5♥-(p)-6♦ Here 6♦ sounds as to play. Hopefully partner will understand it and not convert to 6♥

bidding was: 1S-P-2S-3C 4S-AP 4S= At our table the bidding was (I was sitting W): bidding was: 1S-P-3S-4C 4S-5C-AP 5C+1 This was a very bad board for us. Note: I don't remember the hands, but I (W) know that I had 2 HCP and something like: Jxxx=xxxxx=xx=Jx
-
Two additional considerations: - Maybe East would have balanced with a 6c♣? - Strength of West is also important: Maybe he is good enough to count the hand and knows that Diamonds are 3334, but has not enough imagination to realize that you can still have a problem because you can think that ♦'s are 4-2. The probably of ♦'s 4-2 is then higher when he ducks ♠'s twice (because he may think that ducking does not matter if they are 3-3). BTW: Do you think either East or West should have bid?

[hv=pc=n&s=sxxxhxxxdxxcaqxxx&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=1sp2s3c4s]133|200[/hv] IMPs (Teams), all Vulnerable, opps are not very good. Do you pass or bid 5♣ and how clear do you find this?

Opps bid you long suit and your void
kgr replied to kgr's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
First auction: everyone passes Second auction: Some DBLs and some 3C's...Is 2S also an option? I would prefer to bid 2S above 3C or is 2S promising 5-6? -
Opps bid you long suit and your void
kgr replied to kgr's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
2C by LHO was really natural. How do you rate bidding 2S after (1st or) 2nd auction? Or is 2S showing 5-6? -
