  1. Since you guys are blaming South, how about North? South showed 25-27 HCP, (semi)balanced hand, how could North, with 6 decent clubs and 2 jacks (7 count), which gives 32-34 hcp, pass 3NT?
  2. I would have overcalled 2C. Now I bid 4H, planning to correct pd's 4S to 5C.
  3. I voted for 4S+5H. But usually it shows 4S+6H. With 4-4, responder should bid 3C, and so for most 4-5.
  4. Yes, 2C. BTW, I believe not many experts play 2C/2D over major opening as 5+.
  5. Usually I dislike 2N response, though I can accept it. 3H is surely cuebid, but not clear about which minor to support. After pd's 3S, 3NT is a terrible call, I would say. In my opinion, Eaest's bids become worse and worse: The worst bid is 5C (should be 4D), the second worst is 3NT, followed by 3H (ambiguous, prefer 4D), and 2NT (I personally don't respond 2NT with one exception: 3=3=3=4 over 1D opening).
  6. If we have 4 Aces, I would go to grand (7NT) directly!
  7. Pass is OK, though dbl might be better. In any case, South should not bid 5D.
  8. Dbl is NOT an option for me. I would choose pass with 4H as a close alternative.
  9. Q1) Your pd is 100% for the blame. Since he tried to blame you, add another 100% to him. Q2) 3D is not forcing as others pointed out. And 3D would block himself to show ♥ support before 3NT. A better bid from your pd is 3C and you then would bid 3D: 1♦ - 1♥ 3♣ - 3♦ 3♥ - 3♠/4♥ 4NT - ... 5♥ (5♦). Over your pd's 3D, 3S is fine and pass over 3NT is OK, too. The alternative of pass is to bid 4D.
  10. Redouble is good. dbl of 1S is penalty. Pass over 1S is my choice.
  11. I suggest that North, instead of South, to initiate the slam inevestigation, after South's reverse (or jump shift): 1♣ - 1♦ 2♥ - 3♣ 3♦ - 4NT 5♦ - 6♣ If South had two KCs only, well, too bad. I also agree that South should bid to slam with one KC short.
  12. 4S, wtp? I have SK which would be a surprise for my pd.
  13. Over 3C, I bid 3D (3H is the alternative, and 3NT is also acceptable). And if pd bids 4S over my 3N, I would pass (what else can I do)?
  14. Phil, I don't buy it. To lead H10 is bad only when pd has HQ and no other high cards. While it is bad to lead CQ if pd don't have C10 or CK. Even in the case you constructed (in ♥), declarer can still get right by playing double dummy.
  15. Well, SAK is not enough for grand.
  16. totally agree. you can't expect pd to have SAK AND HK. Without all these three cards, you would need at least a finesse to make grand (spades or hearts).
  17. Agree with Roland as well. My Michaels usually shows 5-5 (over minor or major). Occasionally, I bid Michaels (especially over minors) with 5-4, as in this situation.
  18. It's tough. On one hand, I have a good card, CA, on the other hand, I don't have ruff value. I am not sure if I would bid on over pd's 3H (first question), or over pd X and 2H rebid. But I would bid game over pd's 2S and then 3H.
