  1. For me, any unnecessary jump is splinter. After partner shows 2 minors, I don't see the reason to jump to 4th suit as natural.
  2. A suit of 5 or 6 (if 6, exactly 3-card support for pd's suit) cards, missing at most one honor. For example: ♠AQJxx, ♥KJxx, ♦Ax, ♣xx, after pd's 1♥ opening. If pd has 2nd round control on ♣, ♥A (even ♥Q is missing), ♠K, a slam is almost certain. Even with a singleton, sometimes I prefer to show double fit than shortness. If double fit is confirmed, we can then use double-suit RKC.
  3. This hand didn't cause a disaster. My hand is ♠A109xx,♥J,♦Q10xxx,♣xx. The bidding went: 1♣-1♠-2♦-3♥-4♥-5♦. A slam is missed. After this board is finished, we had a dispute about the meaning of 3♥.
  4. Maybe this should be in a poll. But anyway, which interpretation is more reasonable? Splinter or real suit (natural)?
  5. Thanks for response. There are two issues here. 1) The conventions here you post need to be discussed between partners. I post this example for cansual partnership with basic 2/1. So the question here is, withour discuss, what interpretation of 3♥ is more reasonable? 2) I don't like this convention, for reasons I mentioned in the previous post. I think 2M/3m as sign-off is good enough.
  6. With Disagreement on 3♥ bid, I don't see any reasoning for using your convention here. 2♥ (4th suit) is still forcing (even in your convention here) because a passed hand can have hcp up to 12, especially facing a cansual partner. Besides, I don't believe 2NT/3♣/3♦ is forcing. I take 2NT as invitational, 3♣/3♦ is forced to choose a minor.
  7. After 3 passes, my partner opened 1♣, I responded 1♠. Partner with ♠-, ♥Axx, ♦KJxx, ♣AKxxxx, reversed 2♦. I bid 3♥. I have two questions: 1) What does 3♥ mean? 2) How to proceed after 3♥?
  8. 90% to North. North's double already showed ♣ and ♥. He doesn't have extra length/strength to bid ♣. South's 1NT and double showed good ♠, North should be happy to pass.
  9. 2C or 3C, depending on whether you play inverted minor or not. 3N is another option.
  10. 3♥ was very wrong. With 6-5, you always bid 2nd suit at second chance (bid it again at 3rd chance). Or else you would never be able to show the 5-card suit.
  11. 4NT. If I decided to dbl over 4♦, I bid 4NT now.
  12. 2♠ over pd's 2♣ doesn't need to have extras.
  13. North's pass was a crime. Either 5♣ or double is acceptable.
  14. I blame both. Both X and pass are horrible. North is basically one-suiter, an easy 3♣ overcall. What if South bid 2♦ with 4[cards] only (4-2-4-3, 4-3-4-2,etc.)? And for South, an easy 2NT.
  15. It is very tempting to bid something. As I remember, most of the time pass is the right thing to do.
  16. In SAYC, 3♦ is not forcing. 3♠ by opener can be 4 cards (7-4, for example) or stoppers. If responder has 4 cards of ♠, (s)he can bid 4♠ (let opener clarify by passing or correcting to 5♦), otherwise bid 3N or 4♦.
  17. 2♠ or if I want to be aggressive, 2♥.
  18. Agree. South had agreed with ♣.
  19. I want to vote #2 and #4. 1NT is not good, but I don't want to use the word "idiot". It is an OK choice. South had better keep open on both back suits. It is quite possible that North has 5 clubs, like ♠Kx, ♥Axx, ♦Axx, ♣KJxxx (or even ♣KQxxx a grand slam).
