  1. rebid 2♠ with 5-card defeats the purpose of forcing 1NT. Keep in mind that partner most likely doesn't have a strong hand, and 2 or less cards of ♠.
  2. Agree. 4S is completely absurd.
  3. If 2♥ is forcing, then 3♥ must be splinter. Any unnecessary jump shift should be understood as splinter. After North's 4♥ bid, South should not bid 4♠. Instead, (s)he should jumped to 6♣ (5♣ is also acceptable imo). 4♣ over 2♣ is also a good choice (bid over 3NT should be viewed as slam interest) for new partnership.
  4. 2♠. ♥Q is a wasted card, not enough for 2♥. I play 3♠ as weak hands and looong suit (good 6 or 7+), nothing much on side suit. What if pd's hand is double-bid hand? maybe there is a slam...
  5. I second. I don't like false preference either.
  6. This is strange. I think 2/1 promises 4-card in minors, 4-card in major (♥, that is).
  7. Fluffy's both biddings are reasonable. Or if play 2/1, 3♦ can be Splinter. I would never jump to 3NT over pd's major opening.
  8. I was wrong. Actually RHO (kind of Newbie) rebid 2N with ♠AJx ♥Jxxx ♦A ♣Kxxxx (high card may not be exactly the same).
  9. Thanks everyone. I held the 3460 hand and over-called 1♦, my pd raised to 2♦: 1♣-1♦-2♣-2♦-3♣-3♥-P-4♦-P-5♦. down 1. 4♠is makable. Would you be able to reach 4S?
  10. I am not against 4 card over call. But holding such a weak 4-card and 4333 distribution, 1♠ is completely insane. I blame 80% to South, 10% bad luck. 10% to North: weak hand with the 1NT warning from west.
  11. I have two questions: 1.RHO opens 1C, and you hold: ♠Qxx ♥AKxx ♦KQxxxx ♣- What do you call? 2.You hold ♠Kxxxx ♥xx ♦T9x ♣Axx What do you call in the following sequence? 1♣-1♦(pd)-2♣-?
  12. 2C(1) - 2D(2) 3H(3) - 3S(4) 3NT(5) - 4C(6) 4NT(7) - 5C(8) 5D(9) - 5H(10) 6H (1) strong and artificial (2) waiting (3) H as trump, please Q-bid (4) Ace of S (5) waiting (what else?) (6) K (or A) of C (7) RKC (8) 1 KC (9) what else? (10) nothing
  13. Unless I can be sure that my pd understands 3H, I would bid 4S, assuming pd has an average opening hand.
  14. That's exactly the question I want to ask. Now, I play 10.
  15. It only requires ♣4-2 (as it was the case) to set up one club. Even with bad club break (5-0), there is still chance for a squeeze.
  16. I would end up in 7S, a reasonable grand (S3-2 plus some other minor requirement).
  17. I don't know what is worst. But as South I would certainly overcall 2C with an opening hand and decent clubs. As North, I would not overcall 3S with so little (although good shape). After the wrong pass and wrong overcall, everything got messed up.
  18. I agree with Justin. This is far too good for inviting. I wish I could splinter with 4C.
