The demise of Flash - so which browser to use?
Gerardo replied to Dinarius's topic in Suggestions for the Software
This is due to sharing a codebase with the mobile platforms (phone/tablets) where screen estate is scarse. -
The one who has the CC saves it with partner's name. Then both can see and edit it (under partner's name in CC list)

Unable to join reserved seat In in Casual
Gerardo replied to chunghomko's topic in BBO Support Forum
Old clients do not not about Casual server. So you won't be able to join a table there woth and old (Windows, Flash) client. However, new clients (HTML5, mobile) can see a table an old client opens in the new server. I think they would get invitations via seat reservation. Definitely can look up profile and join the table that way. -
BBO Virtual Clubs setup goes thru the National Bridge Otrganizations, not clubs directly. The EBU is already set up with BBO, contact them.
-
If you're dummy you still have the right to stop the play. However, in BBO, decarer can overrule you. In this case, say ASAP to the table you disagree with playing on (so Director who can pick table chat can use it, and disregard any further play), and call the Director.

Faulty Registration
Gerardo replied to susandeitz's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
2020-05-19 19:30:04 TOURNEY DEREGISTER Jenpoppy+susandeitz because susandeitz is missing (timezone is America/Chicago, US Central). You reconnected a minute later, but by then, you missed the seating call, so you didn't get a seat. You were in the Casual server, but at this time, can't get tourney calls while there. Be sure you are connected at least a couple of minutes before the tourney starts (big tournaments seating calls might start slightly (as in the order of seconds) before the scheduled time) -
The one using the old client should open the tabe. The one using the new client can join via invitation, or profile -> join.
-
If you have a mix of old (Windows, Flash) and new (HTML5, Mobile) clients, the people with old version should open the table. People with new clients can join via invitation or profile.
-
Mobile uses the same codebase as the HTML5 client (what Richard called latest greatest).
-
Old clients (Windows, Flash) do not know about Casual server. New clients (HTML5, Moniles) do. So: if you have 4 people with old clients, Casual is not there. if you have 4 people with new clients, all must go to the Casual server, and only then start a table. If you have a mix: people with old client should start the table, and invite people by reserving seats, or new client people can join the table by opening the opener's profile, then join.

You told BBO your ACBL # after our last monthly report to ACBL, on May 1st. Our next report, on June 1st, we'll report all the points your earned until the end of May. You'll be able to see them online, on www.acbl.org, after June 6th, or in the Back of July's bulletin.

Registered Pair not included in Tournament
Gerardo replied to jdempsey52's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
Collection is done at seating time. No seat, no charge. Other possibilities for not being seated: Not connected (if missed the seating call, there are no second chances). (INCLUDING being in the Casual server)Playing in a different tourney.Being in a teaching table. Maybe others not coming to mind now. -
We deleted records earlier than today's in exchange for promptiness.

Casual game hands in recent history?
Gerardo replied to maccrimmon's topic in General BBO Discussion
Yes, they will be there. However, we deleted (for view there) all hands (not just casual), at some point today. So hands from today on will be there, but not the ones from before today -
We are currently lagging at peak time, playing catch up when peak is over. Studying ways to fix this.
-
That was actually the seating call, and your partner was disconnected (time below is US Central) 2020-05-15 13:15:08 TOURNEY DEREGISTER Scottrehob+<partner> because <partner> is missing Ediited partner's name.

Checking results for boards needing adjustments
Gerardo replied to sandiem's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
THese days we're having a volume issue at peak time, we eventually catch up later, but meanwhile results are delayed. However: You can go to the Director Tab, Running Tournaments, line of the specific tourney (if you have more than one), menu shows up, asks for Results of a Player, go from there. As long as the tourney is listed there (running + adjustment period) this is available. If you are looking for them after the fact, I suggest asking players to actively report them as soon as they happen. -
To run a Virtual Club, you can ask the SABF to make the contact with BBO, so your club (and others affiliated with the SABF) can run such tournaments.
-
If going that route, maybe allow discussion until your side has made a call, to avoid dealer shutting opponents up by making a call.

The v3 (HTML5) client is needed to use the Casual tables (in a different server). The older clients [v2 (Flash) and v1 (Windows)] do not see them, but still use the original server for them(thus, the CAsual tables will be all v3, or v1/v2) Could this be the case?

Changing Number of Rounds, Boards Per Round
Gerardo replied to criptik's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
No, it is fixed once it starts. -
Can't avoid. Can arrange to have the 4 involved people in Casual, and go from there.
-
Matches won't have this issue. Boards in them are played exactly twice, in a scheduled fashion.
