  1. what's up with the fanfare? Happens most of the time you open your mouth.
  2. last 60 days are counted, rolling. I see 6 tourneys, all in the last month. Need at least 10 tourneys for it to count, so you need to start 4 more. It is TCR (Tourney Completion Rate), and it is a percentage: floor(100*finished/started) when started >= 10 -1 when started < 10
  3. Finally the GOP is on its way to getting its wet drean of reversing Roe v Wade. And ONLY 75% thinks that's the wrong direction? Doomed you are
  4. Players can withdraw from Team Matches themselves, leaving a sitout in their place. 2 sitouts created this way (without a timely subbing to cover them) triggers the cancellation of the match.
  5. Could this be because, while (still) highly transmissible, omicron (reportedly(?)) does not attack the lungs like other variants?
  6. Rank calculations are done daily, not in real time. You'll have it in the next round.
  7. Both started. Your pair was not picked up (and neither was charged, fees was collected when players are seated). Both players in a pair need to be: ConnectedAble to cover the feeNot otherwise engaged (playing in another tourney/match, or some other activities Your partner was not connected, both times. She connected 7 min after start the first time, and 30 seconds after the second time.
  8. there is +allavail+ which delays the start of the tourney until all registered players are available to start.
  9. Why didn't East double 2NT at the other table (can penalize one of their suits)?
  10. Yes, byproduct of earlier issues today. There is a backlog, catching up.
  11. Disclaimer: While I work for BBO, I was not involved in any of the descisions about this, nor I asked about them. This is completely unofficial. For one, the number of matchpoints in itself is incomplete without the number of tables (or comparisons, usually tables - 1). 5 matchpoints in 6 tables is a shared top, 5 matchpoints in 16 tables is a quite poor result. A percentage is just normalizing the result, so 5 in 6 tables is 5/(6-1)= 1, or 100% while 5 in 16 tables is 5/(16-1)=1/3 or 33.33%. Without percentages, you need to stipulate another parameter (number of comparisons would do, in older times I saw the average instead, as in X matchpoints on a Y average). With percentages, only one number is needed, and gives an easy read about the quality of your game. Note that, while BBO across all sections (at the end; scores shown while tourney is running are different for each section), if you don't do this, an inconvenient number of tables, say, a prime number like 61, leaves you with sections of different sizes, then you need to normalize the results somehow, and using percentages does that, too.
  12. FWIW, Uday is back (started this month) as VP of BBO.
  13. FYP. There is always a host. Not necessarily a player.
  14. what is 1♦:2♣ 2x:3♦? what is 1♦:2♣ 3♣:3♦? what is 1♦:2♦ (GF) 3♣:4♣? what is 1♦:2♦ (GF) 3♣:4♦? How do you show the inv fitted hand over 1♦?
  15. People at your table would see you. If you sit at a visible table, you'd be seen on table listings.
  16. ....the Flash platform has significant security problems, and it has been discontinued by its maker. Also, browsers (Chrome [and its variants, including Edge], Firefox, Safari) do not support it in their later releases.
  17. There was an issue updating results, fixed now. Boards are visible now.
  18. 2♠, if partner finds an invitational bid (not 3♠), then I'd bid 4♠.
  19. Some tourneys have prepared (as in uploaded) hands. Randomness of those depends on the tourney organizer. Players are informed when this happens, with a message "This tourney uses prepared hands" or something like that (sorry, didn't see the message in english in a while) Instant Tournaments use hands recycled from old tourneys, but those were random the first time around. Best Hand tournaments: South gets the hand with more HCP (or one of them if tied). Either by swapping or rotating, I don't remember. No other hand is manipulated in any way. Dealer's randomness has been tested for bias. No bias, truly random.
