I lead according to WJ2000, this mean 2/4 wather you have an honor or not , and high from honor squence.(but K from AK) so from xx (10 is not included) we lead small. 862 we lead 6 J62 we lead 6 J6543 we lead the 4. KQJ we lead the K AKx we lead the K. about non honor leads i like the lead of small of xx, also like the second with no honor, but i really dont like the lead of second from an honor. I can give an example of where it helped me. Yesterday in abalucy partner lead the 5 of diamond dummy had K109 and i had AQ654 I took the Q and declarer played the J. Now i had to know wather or not i can cash the A, with our leads it was easy, i know partner can only have 1 higher card then the 5, so he cant have both the 7 and the 8, therefore i cashed the A succesfuly. As i said i really dont like the lead of middle from Hxx, my general method in diffence is that attitude come before count, (i rerly give count at all) leading small from Hxx serve as an ittutude signal, you tell your partner you like the suit, while leading middle server as count , you tell him you only have 1 card higher. to me telling partner wather i lead passively or actively is far more importent then the count. Anyway you can see in the thread given by The_Hog that this count thing can be solve too. Despite all i play those leads even those i dislike, because im first a partner and only second a player , and thats what partner is used to. About honor leads i dont have an opinion about the new approaches of low from sequence, about AKx we lead K but i know A is a bit better. 3/5 might be better then forth best.

Its too hard for me, cant tell whats right now, and oviosuly couldnt tell at the table, i would probebly play like your partner did.

I think you are now ready to open a web site and flood some forums with it too. :P - Thank you. I did it 3 years ago, immediately after the 12 years that I have spent to create this system. But I think that a Forum there won't be useful. You can not argue competently before you try it, and when you try it, you will not want to argue anymore. :P Its just too hard for me to understand ppl like you who have this huge confident that they know the best, are you a world class player ?

Lavinthal Discards

What do you mean ? can you give an example ? This is because not every time you will have both odd/even cards to discard. For example, if you got only odd cards, but playing any odd cards would convey prefernce or encouragement info. according to your agreement, then playing an odd card slowly will show some extra information. I just read about this in stevenson forum, he explained that its ok on discard but not on partners lead. I understand this but i really dont like it, the etical problems is imo just a matter of time , today people dont know what to do when they lack the o/e they need for the signal, but they have enough knolege to know what to do when they dont cant spare a high card to signal encarage, when i played o/e it was simple, just like in std you can line from dis to enc 2345678910, you can line fro dis to enc when playing o/e : 2468109753. just like when playing std if i play the 7 partner will not automaticly think its high, he will look at the spots in his hand , dummy, and declarer card, if he see 234581042 he will have to judge wather i was inc from 67 or dis from 710 same here, if i play 8 and partner see the the 35710, he will have to think wather im dis from 89 or im enc 86. The false carding art by declarer also works the same way. btw in israel o/e is allowed and never heard of any problem with it. -
I advice you to leave the details of your system and explain why you think its better then other systems.

What are the odds for 5-0 split ? and why 6sp is down on 5-0 diamond ?

Are you sure it was std leads ? maybe they say 2/4 because low from xx is still second best.

Constructive or Obstructive 1NT overcalls.
Flame replied to jtfanclub's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
No...it's like playing 1C as 12-21, and deciding that a particular 12 point hand isn't worth opening. This hand has 12 hcp, but clearly isn't worth as much as an average 12 point hand. I don't think 12-15 NT overcalls are uncommon when you also play them as your opening. What can i tell you, those 12 are normal , but yes if yuo consider it as a weak 12 you can pass, but then this isnt a contractive obstructive question, just an evaluation question. -

I have something general to say about signaling, signaling will help a beginer more then an expert becuse an expert will probebly know what to do without them, but for the exact same resson signaling might get a beginer to not think , so maybe signaling is a bad idea for beginers, in general ppl got to undestand that signaling is never taking the place of bridge judgment, and when partner is encaraging a suit it doesnt mean we have to play that suit, its only add a peace of information to our bridge judgment. -

Constructive or Obstructive 1NT overcalls.
Flame replied to jtfanclub's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
I'm asking for people who have developed such a system, which way do they play it? To what? Or are you saying I should pull a Ron and change to MOSCITO or something? If the system is 12-15 then you must bid 1nt that very simple thats why i say there is no question, just like when you have 12 hcp and 6 card hearts you dont start thinking if you like to play 1h as a trasnfer to spade, or maybe you better play 2h as showing a minimum opening with unbalanced hand, those systems are good but your system tell you to open 1H and you do. I never heard of anyone playing 1NT as 12-15, the normal is 15-18 , and there are those who play RAPTOR. -
I feel 6♠ is best but should calculate it to be sure.

Constructive or Obstructive 1NT overcalls.
Flame replied to jtfanclub's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
You cant have this question at the table, you already decided it when you developed the system, so now you dont have a choice you have 12-15 bal with a stop and must bid 1nt. After the board you can (and imo should) change your system. -

Its not enough to know the systems ,you need to learn how to use them, for example if you dont care about the suit, you can signal you want the suit which you oviously dont, also there could be acase for intermidiate cards. -
Rebound said it yourself, your skills arent the same all the time, you have those moments, but then ou say at the end that conventional bridge practice is the way to go. The point of this post is to offer a different view, that maybe the convential way of learning bridge isnt the best or atleast isnt the only way. Maybe there could be something like bridge meditation. Bridge takes lots of imagination, especially at the diffence, the better a player you get the more you understand that on diffence your work is to picture declarer's hand, The_Hog called it counting, but i believe picturing does the trick better, and when getting used to it, its alot easier then counting. There may be some tricks that arent writen in brige books, some may be called experts habbit, it can begin with the smallest things like, how to pick your cards, how to put them into suits in the most effective way, how to count ur high cards, but it will get to more serious stuff, those things you can learn maybe from a private trainer, but i didnt see a book talking about it.

How to bid this hand with natural bid?
Flame replied to flytoox's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
1NT - 2♣ 2♦ -3♣ 3♥ -3♠ 3NT/4♣ -4♦ 4♥ -4NT 5♠ - 7♣/6♦ 2c stayman 3c showing 5 clubs 4M and slam seeking 3H cue bid showing club fit 3sp cue 3NT/4C cue or whatever 3nt mean here 4D - cue 4H -cue showing second honor in the suit 4NT aces 5sp - 2 aces with the Q of club 7club - to play or 6D if this asks about Q of diamond, if partner has the Q we can bid 7NT. -
What you said about those small xxx is a good example of the usefull of photographic memory, and the proff that you and i are using it, why do we remember AKQJ and not 2345, i think because thier picture "speaks" loader.

Lavinthal Discards
Flame replied to pbleighton's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
try combining the two. odd discard = encourage even discard = lavinthal what you call combining the two is called italian first discard. (some call it roman discards) -
This is a non conventional post but i hope still to get your opinions. You know those ppl who you can give a line of many numbers and they will remember it forward and backword, they dont memorized it one by one, they "see" the numbers like they have it on a peace of parper infront of thier eyes. I know some bridge players who have this skill(one for sure, others i suspect),they arent the extremly smart but they are world class players, sometimes titles as bridge ginious for that, they can picture the cards , they dont count they see them. Oviosly this skill is something you born with but i wonder if you can learn it to some degree, i know myself atleast when im forcus and have say 8 card fit, i dont anymore count 4 on first +round 4 on second + 4 i have meaning there is 1 outside, i can picture a simple 3-2 break. So i wonder first if this is something you can work on , and also if its practicle, maybe some memory working training can have better effect on bridge skills then reading another sqeeze book.

I play multi 2D which is either weak major or 20-22 bal, or strong in a suit (usually 8 tricks hand) I am thinking that after this 2D its better to narow responder's bids to 2H/2S/2NT only, and not bid pemptive like 3H or even 4X. When responder is thinking of premptive and the defenders are quite there is a good chance that opener will have the strong version. am i right ?

Lavinthal Discards
Flame replied to pbleighton's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I wonder what is standard discard, is that mean you discard a high card and you want this suit ? if that so then any other system is better. i play both lavintal and italian, both have the hands that fit them better, i also played italian vs trump and lav vs NT like luke , which make some sense. In both system you will somtimes prefer or have to discard differently then what the system says, i think the way to mesure between these system effectivness is both to count how many times you wont have an easy signaling card, but also and not less importent, is how easy it is for you to escape safly when that hapend. The hard case for lavintal is when you got a long suit, you want this suit, but you dont mind throwing some of its cards, the hard case of italian either same as before but you have no odd cards of that long suit, or you dont have an even card to discard which suits ur signaling, usually this mean you ur small cards in the suit you dont want are odds numbers. The resson to choose different system vs NT/suit is in suit you will many times be able to discard from your long and good suit, sicne you cant expect to make all the suit (it will eventually be ruffed) , while in NT it wont be ruffed and any low card can be another trick. -
Hi Billies. Try this one.
Flame replied to xx1943's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
You have two options here, one play Q first, the other play 9 first, 9 first makes when diamonds are 2-2 or when south got A single. Q first if no J/10 drops makes on 2-2, but the intresting case is when north drops the j or 10, the law of restricted choice says its twice as good to play north for this honor single and not J10, also J/10 single is twice more likely then A single, ,its very importent to notice that there is no block in the suit, since south is wining the diamond A, and cannot force us to use our last heart in dummy before we play the diamonds (if north would have won and switch to spade, we had to ruff in dummy and now diamonds are blocked). Now time too add precentages, but i dont have them so ill try logic. 9 makes on 2-2 or A single in one hand. Q makes on all 2-2 exept J10 on north, and it also makes on J or 10 signlton on north. if im correct the Q have better precentage. I forgot to mention, playing small/9 wont win if south has J/10 singlton, you wont have enough entries to both finnese and take the long dimamond suit. (if you had the entry then 9 was better then Q since it works on any siglton honor on south)
