scpetic this might not be triable but this raize lots of question about why you use smolen at all. in this sequence your 3sp bid helped your opponents but it didnt help you at all. This could suggest that smolen is a bad convention, or that its being misused here, or that it just has its weakneses, or that smolen scope could and should be biggier, to include other types of hands, for example a one major suit (without 4 card in the other major) , this would take some presure off ur other bids (like transfer) and it will also help your smolen by not revelaing ur other suit to your opponents with no need.

Free you cant controll a psych, but you can controll a "psych" if you read carfully you would understand, also i explain that when partner support the psych is discover but then it doesnt help them because they dont have a fit in the suit.

At this situation North is expected to bid 3NT, then you can transfer to H with 4D, IMO. So what is the point of showing the spade suit ?

If that so then im asking, what the point in playing smolen, why show ur second suit when partner never needed to know about it ? just helping the opponents ?

What does partner do with 3-2 in ♠/♥ when you bid a smolen 3♠ ? if he suppose to bid 4sp on some hands then 3sp isnt right here. anyway i dont understand what smolen helps you here, and would prefer bidding 4h instead.

I think the core of this system, is every suit opening show unbalanced, this is what uniqe this system and changing it would just make it another system.

why 2h+1 is so good for them? dont they have some play in 3N? No not even close. we can probebly make 5 club.

To make a game with this hand you need either support for 4H or pretty good hand to make 3nt. If you can count on partner to support you with quite weak hards you wont have much probelm with 1h. Sure you might miss a game but not too many of them.

It looks intresting, few comments. You probebly should compare your system to 4 cards major with big club like blue club, or moskito, more then to precision. I dont agree is that passing 12 bal, let you open 1 hcp lighter, its just the opposite, it lets you sterech your openings up to 16, and ur 1c to begin from 17 , because u can play 13-16 and not at 12-15. Not opening 12 balanced is something most system desinger decided to avoid even with a big cost of having a neblous 1d, so i suspect it will have its price on your system too. so 12 balanced is your first system weakness. The second weakness is your 1nt opening, it got larger then normal range, and also contain 5 card majors, comaring to other systems which use 2 points range and take out the 5 card major. Oviously there are benefits to those 2 weaknesses, and you'll have to check if they outweight the weaknesses. Good luck

with clubs and spades many open 1c even with 5-5, so with 6-5 i go with clubs for sure.

One could argue that a 1H overcall is less likely to get passed out... Maybe but im not sure. If both 1h and 2c has no upper limit then ppl will not be afraid to let you play in 1h.

I'm sorry, I still don't understand. I no longer think I even understand what a mixed strategy is. To me, a psych is an attempt to get a good board by fooling the oppoenents into thinking you have something other than you actually have. A mixed strategy includes destructive bids that don't describe your hand yet but may be used in conjunction with future bids to describe your hand. In a psyche, you say you have A but really have B, in a mixed strategy you have either A or B, and you tell the opponents this. The only difference between a psyche and a mixed strategy is in the explanation, but it's a very fundemental difference. If you could help explain mixed strategy vs. psyches to me, or perhaps why I'm wrong about the difference, I'd appreciate it. You are right, but in Richard's way of bridge any bid can mean many things, 1sp show a hand with X spades or any hand which Richard think bidding 1spade will get his side a good result. Now he can alret and explain thsi could be anything that i think is good to bid 1 spade with, but that wont help. The problem with this approach is that partner has moe information then the opponents , because he know his partner style, and when style has serious effect on bidding, the extra information become not fair.

The change is total tricks thory, which expain that hcp doesnt matter as shape in competitve bidding. I am tryign to strech my overcalls but there is a limit, the limit is different at the level bid and the vul, bidding an overcall at the 2 level when vul, im expected to have a minimum of 14 hcp, so oviosly having 18-19 wont be too much, but i will not overcall with 19 hcp on the 1 level.

I dont see anything illegal about this, i will alert the bid and explain it can be a weak hand with a fit to partner suit. Illegal is to have information that your opponents dont, but i will give them all the info i have.

In wj2000 it suggested to bid 1M over 1d with either a normal 6+ , or weak hand with support as a psych, i like this idea, because it makes it harder on the opponents. The same idea can works after weak two, 2H-2S is forcing but can be bid with heart fit and not spade suit. The nice thing about this, is when opener doesnt have support, opponents dont know i dont have the suit, and when he got support, and i take it back to the first suit, they know, but it doesnt help them because partner has the suit. The main problem is partner can get us too far supporting. 1D-1S-3S is a problem, also 2H-2S-3S. My idea is to play 2nt by opener for the 3M bid. so 1D-1S-2NT will be the normal 3sp, same goes to 2H-2S-2NT. 2NT is not very importent bid, ppl use it to distinguege between 6 diamonds+3M and 3D+no 3M. and after 2H its even less importent. There might be other better ways to handle this. All this doesnt mean im going to play controlled psych, im going to alert the major bid. What do you think ?

I like your examples, and as you can see they all fit into my rule, they all bid without a stoper of LHO's suit. Its just that you dont need a stoper to play 1nt so why not bid it without it? 1c (1s) p ? you have a strong balance hand with a stop, you will oviouskly bid 1nT, imo its best to bid 1nt even without the stop, the stoper just make no difference to the chances of the NT to make, so if its better with the stop , its better without it.

Your ACBL rules are imazingly stupid. Can anyone give me any resson in the would (even stupid resson) why inv relay arent allowed ? Its like having random rules without any logic beind them.
