I would play small ♦ and to the club return Q of club.
-
I would leave it there lead a trump and hope for good but if you want to take it out, 4nt is your best choice.

Sure it ovious when the question is asked this way at the forum, hope you would also find it as the table. and anyway its a cute move.

Question about Jacoby 2nt
Flame replied to rcbought's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Nothing to be ashame of in your hand (you nemtioned rule of 20 as u felt weak) you got a great hand enough for 4D. -
Thanks, thought you ment some kind of endplay when you said no need to guess.
-
you need to play in stronger games. Not sure. Playing J from Jxx infront of AK is a good play , but playign J behind the AK doesnt seem so smart.
-
Nice
-
Explain more pls, what are we doing after the J club switch ?
-
I can clearly see what the problem is: you have only 12 cards. My move is to call the TD, and get 60% if one of my opps has 14 cards :D Lol you are always the one to find this, i think it got something to do with the phtographics abilities we talked about at other thread.

Can you give aproximate chances ? Number 1 for the finnesing to work you need Qx or Q or Qxx onside. While not finnesing you need Qx or Q or xxx or xxxx onside. We can take out Q and Qx which are on both group ending up with Qxx opposite xxx and xxxx. What are the chances of it ?

What is the right way to play these ? 1. [hv=n=sx&w=s&e=s&s=sakj109xx]399|300|[/hv] 2. [hv=n=sx&w=s&e=s&s=sakj109xx]399|300|[/hv] Those arent rare as they may seem because you can move some small cards to the second hand as long as you only have one entry to it.

I didnt read that book, but i can assure you that special squeezes wont make you win at bridge.
-
squeeze where ? :)
-
I double At imps you got to try for the big money. At mp i would have doubled for different ressons.
-
4♠ My guess is partner has 6 card spade suit and short heart. Just kidding i wouldnt dare to bid 4S just pass and hope for best.
-
Example why I hate regular 2/1

Are we sure 4D isnt cue bid for club contract ? -
With no special agrement this bid show 5-4 in the majors, not 6-5.
-
Could it be that in few yearts ppl will look at the 10-12 and say its an old fashion we prefer 7-9 hcp ?
-
I dont play weak two bids and i dont miss them, they are too rare. I dont think this system is a mp system more then its good for imps.
-
I agree , you are crazy ;)
-
You mean you take 2.15 from your opponents ? or else i didnt understnad you. If i understand right, do you consider a high mean as always good, always bad or usually good/usually bad ? I think its usually good but not always. In general i consider their system to a new age system, based on the consept of total tricks more then any other system i know. The main fault imo is the forcing 1 bids, but i cant say how bad this is.

Doesn't work. You play the diamond Jack, West wins, and plays the Ace and another heart. You'll take 2 hearts, 1 diamond, and 5 clubs. Unfortunately, when you try to take the 9th trick by either leading spades or diamonds, West wins and takes the 13th heart for 1 down. I think Ben forgot to write his thoughts, you need to do the same trick with the spade as you did with the heart before you play J♦. So take A♦, then heart to the Q, club back, spade to the Q, and only now its time for the endplay.

4sp is ok, but other bids would be fine too. How did you go down ?
-
You have a little typo mistake about 2sp which should be spade+ minor. normally 1 suiter is considered 6 card suit. 2 suiters are 5-5 and 5-4 on good vul(some might play 4-4), this is a matter of style so someone might play 5-4 even in bad vul, or atleast when all vul, while others will play always 5-5 or maybe 5-4 when not vul vs vul (only recently i learned that against 1nt when all non vul its even better to act then when non vul vs vul). its also 2sp and 2NT should have better shape then 2c/2d/2h. The different between brozel against Weak andr strong NT should be in how constractive the bid is, against weak NT your bids should show more, on the other hand its might be better to be carful vs strong, so vs strong you want more shape and need less hcp, while vs weak you can have less shape and more hcp.

Some bidding decisions
Flame replied to Deanrover's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
1. 4♠ some days 3NT will make and 4sp will go down but i dont know how to recognized those days. 2.2d was fine and now i'll bid 4♠, im not even close to exclusive since we might go down in 4♠, remember partners 2♠ is a very weak bid. 3. i dont like the hand much, i dont like AXXX suits for prements and i will only bid 3♠. 4. bidding 4♠ here is a one way bid, a secrafice only because partner doesnt have enough hcp. I would pass, but i know successfull players that would bid 4sp without a second of thinking. 5. 3♣ in competitve i dont get exited with some hcp, if i would it would silence my partner on the next board, my goal is to win the partscores, and if i miss a game here and there its ok.
