  1. I think double finnese on east is clearly the best line, with 75% success.
  2. I just began to read it yesterday, i read from the begining which is oviously too easy for me, but i think this is an apportunity for me to have a solid in depth and complete lesson on squeeses for the first time. Im going to read it all.
  3. 2H here isnt a weak two, its an overcall at the two level which show alot more then weak 2, my overcalls at the 2 level are very solid and i found out latelt that the majority of experts agree with this, i see ppl explaning their partner's overcalls as 10-15 hcp and i lough since their range ends where mine just began, with 5332 i wouldnt bid less then 13-14 hcp. whereagles has good points for bidding 2H, it could work but it could also costs when partner bid 3nt, or double the opponents based on ur 2h. I would bid a simple 3H. I guess Richard's mixing strategy can like always solves the problem.
  4. I'll try another one from yesterday. http://online.bridgebase.com/cgi-bin/history.pl?...01703562-505660 [hv=d=e&v=e&n=s963h8762dat75ck2&w=sak75h53dq932cj54&e=sj2haqj4dj86cqt97&s=sqt84hkt9dk4ca863]399|300|Scoring: IMP West North East South - - Pass 1♣ Pass 1♥ Pass 1NT! I choose the successuf one and played the 10. At trick 6 west lead a club i had few squeezes options, as it looked east's hand was 2434 (east early diamond discard wouldnt be from 4 cards) i had a club heart on east, unfortunetly there werent enough entries for that, but if the diamonds honors splits i can make it. i ducked the club, if east play back a diamond i can play small and later crush east's J. if east play heart or club (as he did) The ending possition was [hv=d=e&v=e&n=s963h8762dat75ck2&w=sak75h53dq932cj54&e=sj2haqj4dj86cqt97&s=sqt84hkt9dk4ca863]399|300|Scoring: IMP West North East South - - Pass 1♣[/font] Pass 1♥ Pass 1NT! Pass Pass Pass [/hv] When i played the 10 of spade discarding a diamond from dummy, east is squeezed, if he choose to discard the J of diamond, i would finnese to the 10 of diamond (at this point i know exactly what he as) if he discard a club my clubs are good.
  5. Two things should lead you , first its best to teach them the most common system , where they are going to play, this will help them find partners but also help them learn, since the process of learning continue when you play, and if they know the system played by their opponents they will learn from them. Second, a natural system is better then unnatural one, first because its easier to learn but also it will give them better tools to keep up their learning process, they will understand the system rather then memorize it, they will understand competitive bidding.
  6. If you have such a rule its great, my rule is all double are t.o except specific squences we discussed as penalty for example after we have supported (when its not max dbl)
  7. For me its takeout double, 2/3 cards in heart, 4-5 cards in clubs. The idea to play this as something else looks good to me, but i need a specific rule or else i will have a misunderstanding with my partners, and understanding comes before whats best thoretically.
  8. Since i made a mistake here, ill edit it. Imo not much different the sayc. Double would be T.O (usually hearts) A question should be if this should show extra, the common answer is yes so with minimum opening (like hand 1) you suppose to pass (true because of the short spade suit there is an extra resson to double), with hand two you oviously have enough, actually more then enough. With balance hand even 15-17 you have to pass, so hand 3 is a pass. But hand 4 (including both in the same category is what confused me) you have a double. hands 5-6 again hand 6 is an easy double, with hand 5 you can bid 2nt naturally (which is the meaning with a pick up partner), but there are better uses to 2nt either as a good bad , or my preference to show a 6-4 hand. if 2nt is not natural i will double with those 18-19 balanced.
  9. This is very simple, alerts has nothing to do with how many cards in the suit you have, alert is your duty to tell your opponents that the bid is not what they think it is. So if for example you play 2c to be natural you should alert, if you play 1nT-2H as natural you should alert, if you play 1d to show 3 cards you shouldnt alert because this is what they think it show but 1h-1s-2d they think its 4 cards and if you play it as 3 cards or even if you play it as 5 cards you must alert. Another good example is the polish 1d which we must alert although it show 4+ usally 5+ diamonds more natural then sayc, but we still alert. When you are playing under the auspices of eg the ACBL or EBU or whatever you should know what opponents expect and alert accordingly. But at somewhere like BBO, I think it is important that leeway is given by all sides. Bids which are intended as natural needn't be alerted even if their definition of natural is slightly different to yours. Eric I dont think so When im playing on BBO i assume sayc and anything else including opening of 1d that show 4-5 cards, or 2/1 which is GF i alert. There is a smart statment about alerting: when in doubt there is no doubt, meaning you should alert whenever in doubt.

  11. I dont understand why you bid 2d. (i probebly dont know sayc) but if this is sayc then you shouldnt alert it, also if never discussed with partner you shouldnt alert it. PPl on BBO seem to want to know exactly what you have rather then knowing your agrements, i have this problem all the time.
  12. Its on the web, atleast in two places, if you cant find it , ill look for you.
  13. I'll tell you why, its because your system is not the only one in the world, there are lots of them, infact nothing in your system is new, most of the systems face te same problems, and one of those problem, is how much you can load on the 1c bid to take off from the other bids, some things it should be 17+ some 16+ and moscito is trying 15+ but the players of it "complained" more then once that its very vulnarable to interference, and now you come out of now were with 1c=B2 and claim you can handle it without a problem, we dont have to know this specific system, to know that its not true.
  14. Lol, almost everyone I know irl plays this GF with 6+ card. However, online most play it weak... In my country i dont think you will find one who play this strong, the few i know are from this forum. I dont know which is better, both ways have their adv and disadv, but i can say one thing against playing strong which is, we all know how to bid after 1x-1s its like a second nature to most of us, but after 2sp its going to be harder, and there will be some misunderstadning, or even bad judgment on an unpracticed sequences. So like other rare bids you better practice them outside the bidding table.
  15. Pavel how much did you try your system in practice ? Your strong 1c begin here with 9 and 11 hcp hands, this is nuts, i think if you play this a little you will see that the opponents will intefere and you will stay out of you relay system and as you like to say, you will be burned. yes i know you have some agrements after interference, but can those really handle it ? i doubt it.
  16. All wont open hand 1. Ill open 1d on hand 2 and rebid 1nt. the third ill open 1s. Its much easier in life when you have a thory like zar points behind you, why should i have to make exuses to my team when my decision didnt succeed , better have zar deliver them.

  18. How good those hands should be ? I had a fun hand yesterday, i was the only one to make 4H, with just one mistake by the opponents, helped us win that toppers tournament. nothing too good but was fun. http://bridgebase.lunarpages.com/cgi-bin/h...6917&tzoffset=0 [hv=d=s&v=a&n=sat9642hk532d82c4&w=skj85h9dj74ckqt92&e=sq73hqt74dkt653c3&s=shaj86daq9caj8765]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - - - 1♣ Pass 1♠ Pass 2♥ Pass 3♥ Pass 4♥ Pass Pass Pass H9 H2 H4 HJ CA C2 C4 C3 C5 C9 H3 H7 D5 DQ D4 D2 DA D7 D8 D3 D9 DJ H5 D6 SA S3 C6 S5 S2 S7 H6 S8 C7 CT HK DT S4 SQ H8 SJ HA SK S6 HT C8 CQ S9 DK
  19. The problem with 20-22 as opposite to 15-17 you are one level higher and in some suquences you cant invite. transfers/stayman/ or just balance you sometimes have to guess guess. I still play 20-22 (like 95% in my county) because i didnt cre to change it and because i dont have a good alternative, or more correctly i dont think its importent enough to use 2 bids (with the 2d) maybe thats wrong.
  20. As usuall i play simple, and the main point is that when we get doubled at the 1 level we look for escape and not for games. 2c=clubs better then hearts 2H= hearts better then clubs. pass= no preference those are the only bids i would use because i dont like testing my partner but if partner use others i will understand 2d=natural redouble=strong
  21. I think when cards are drawn by a computer the chances of getting the same cards are much bigger since the comp dealer isnt complete random.
  22. I dont like too many stoper checkings, no point in telling the opponents exactly how to diffend. I think this system will help especially when responder got a long suit. you will know you have the suit running and quick tricks outside. On more balance hands maybe you need just the opposite to want to be in 3nt, more solf points. with bad trumps and soft tricks 3nt might be better then 4M.
