  1. IMO Pass = 10, 1♠ = 8, 1NT = 2
  2. Personally, I prefer to have both shape and intermediates, or lots of shape (especially at this vulnerability). So a more defensive 5-5 won't do for me.
  3. Probably a better line out there.
  4. Someone tell me why I can't just do these things by how I feel or at least just a few simple calculations?
  5. 1- 2♠ is forcing in my system but I bid 3♠ anyway. 2- No, open 1NT. Did you end up in the poor 6♠?
  6. Yes, but when he led a club to the king, east rose with the ace and the king was played under the ace.
  7. If you had ♥Qxx you wouldn't play the queen. Especially not here.
  8. GIB was declarer. ♣4 was discarded from dummy.
  9. [hv=pc=n&s=shd2cq54&w=shdckjt7&n=shd3ca86&e=shdac932]399|300[/hv] Notrump. North on lead, N/S needs 2 tricks. North leads the three of diamonds to east's ace and west has a problem. If he pitches the ♣7, east will have to lead a club and declarer will duck to the ten, endplaying west. Therefore, west ditches the ♣T. Now east is endplayed. If he leads the ♣2 or 3, south will play low and west must play the jack. North ducks and west is endplayed. Alternatively, if east leads the ♣9, south covers, west covers, and north ducks, leaving west with ♣J7 leading into ♣A8. Note that the following position (N/S needing 3 tricks) doesn't work: [hv=pc=n&s=shdacq54&w=shdckjt7&n=shd3ca86&e=shd2c932]399|300[/hv] South cashes the ♦A and west discards the ♣T or J. Now if south leads the queen, west covers, but east's 9 is protected.
  10. I have two main partnerships: Mad Scientist/Normal Scientist and Mad Scientist/Beginner All male.
  11. 3/10, 2 extra points because you have support for all the unbid suits.
  12. West showed a diamond control with 4♦ or just a GF raise? Either way I wouldn't double since west probably has ♦A or a void.
  13. But not exactly like that since north has ♣K
  14. [hv=pc=n&s=st85hakj9652dkqck&n=sahdat9632ca98632&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1d2s3h3s]266|200[/hv] How do you bid the hand after this start?
  15. My system has a 2♥ bid available over 1NT to show the single-suiter, so I would take this as a slam try. I have nothing to say (although I have a bit extra), so I call 4♠.
  16. Everyone except for one beginner bid 2♥. The beginner bid 3♥, which I agree with. Opener had ♠AKxxxx ♥x ♦AQT9x ♣K, 9 tricks are made in both majors.
  17. You showed clubs by passing the double of 2♣, so it supported.
  18. [hv=pc=n&e=sqhqjt86432d9cj97&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1s2c]133|200[/hv] Playing 2/1, no agreement on what 4♥ means Also it's a 0-750 MP game so not a great field.
  19. Overbid to 3NT "So, the contract is 2NT?"
  20. This was a sanity check, I was south. Funny story, the opening lead was made and partner places his 5432 of trumps down, and I exclaim, "You had all that and didn't raise?" :P
  21. [hv=pc=n&s=sakqt9hdaq98caj54&n=s5432hq963dj42cq2&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=pp1c(See%20below)p1d(See%20below)p1s(See%20below)ppp]266|200[/hv] N/S were playing precision, so south had an obvious 1♣ opener. After 1♦ (negative), south had two options: 1♠ (natural, NF), or 2♠ (game forcing, similar to 2♣-2♦-2♠ in standard), and chose 1♠. North decided to pass instead of raising. After south managed 13 tricks, who should get the blame for missing game or slam?
  22. 2♣, not enough strength if partner bids 2♦ over a double. Then I bid 3/4♣ over 2/3♠.
