Can partner have as little as ♠KQJx ♥x ♦QJx ♣AQJxx? Anyway, his jump to 6 suggests at least 2 aces, as there is no way he can expect us to have 2 first-round controls. I raise to 7.
We have a 3♥ bid available to show this distribution/count, so it will go: 1NT - 3♥* 3♠** - 4♦ cue, 4NT etc *3-1-(54), slammish **undiscussed, either a cue for a minor or asking which minor I don't think it's a very good slam, though.
4NT, hoping partner and I both play the same responses. Now that I've seen the above, he probably has all 3 key cards so I will ask for the queen which would probably be safest with 5♥.
I had an auction that went something like: 2♦ - 2♥ - 2♦ - 2♥ 3♦ - 3♥ - 3♦ - 3♥ all pass Both sides bid their suits twice each and didn't get past the three level.
It's not hidden Edit: I thought East opened 1♥ not south. Probably 2 spades. Vulnerability is temping but partner can have a 9 count making us cold for a grand.
based on a few tests, GIB will always do the following with 25-27 balanced: -Open 3NT with 4333 or 4432 -Open 2♣ and rebid 3NT with a 5 card major and 5332 -Open 3NT with a 5 card minor and 5332 -Open 2♣ and rebid a suit with a 5 card suit and 5422
[hv=pc=n&w=sa52ha962dqj5ck82&e=skj3h8da9732caq43]266|100[/hv] Auction went W --- E 1NT - 3♥ 3NT 1NT = 12-15 3♥ = 3-1-(45), slammish North leads ♥3 to the king. The ten comes back if you duck (north follows with the 4), followed by the ♥2 if you duck again.
conveniently, gambling 3NT will get you to the cold 6♦ 100% of the time and avoid the questionable 7♦ at the same time. I think with this hand, opening 1♦ was ok.
[hv=pc=n&w=skq5hat7dk4ck6532&e=sa62hq4da9875c984]266|100[/hv] West plays 3NT on the auction 1NT - 3NT North leads the ♠T and south follows with the ♠7. How do you play it?
