[hv=pc=n&w=s8ha9643dqt954ck6&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1sp1np2dp3sp4sppp]133|200[/hv] GIB led the ♦Q against this 4♠ contract. Guess what the only lead was to make it through. Also notable that GIB didn't use Michaels here.
-
There's probably a better line though.
-
Yeah, 3♦ is the right bid. Sounds like an unlucky hand though?

[hv=pc=n&n=sakq3hkt76532daca&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=p1cp1hp2cp2sp4hp6hppp]133|200[/hv] All GIB needs to do here after 4♥ is to bid 5NT as GSF, it's the perfect situation for it.

Without interference: P - 1♣ 1♥ - 1NT 2♥ - 3♦ 3♠ - 3NT P P = Forcing 1♣ = Ask 1♥ = 15-18 points 1NT = GF 2♥, 3♦ = natural 3♠ = probe 3NT = clubs stopped With interference: P - 1♣ (1♠) 2♥ (2♠) 3♦ 3♠ - 3NT 2♥ = 15-18, 5 hearts 3♦ = GF, natural Rest is the same

North opens 1♦ - 1NT 2♦ - 2♠ 3♠ - 4♠ 1♦ = 0-10, 4+ diamonds 1NT = Forcing 2♦ = 7-10, 4+ diamonds or 5+ diamonds and no major 2♠ = 1 round forcing, natural
-
P - (1♣) - 1♠ 2NT - 3♥ 4♠ P = Forcing 1♣ = I guess since 1♣ is available 1♠ = 8-11, this is sort of a stretch but shortness in clubs… 2NT = GF (good 16+), stopper 3♥ = 5-4 in majors exactly, minimum

P - 1♣ 1♥ - 1NT 2♣ - 2♦ 2NT - 3♦ 3♥ - 3♠ 4♥ - P P = Forcing 1♣ = Ask 1♥ = 15-18 points 1NT = GF 2♣ = Transfer stayman 2♦ = 4+ hearts 2NT = Ask 3♦ = 5 hearts 3♥ = Ask 3♠ = 0-2 controls 4♥ = signoff

P - (2♠) - X - (3♣) 3♥ - ( P ) - 3♠ 4♠ - P P = Forcing 2♠ = Clubs or reds I guess? Don't know Suction. X = 8-11

North opens 1♦ in Molybdenum. 1♦ - 1NT 2♦ - 2♠ 4♠ - P 1♦ = 0-10, 4+ diamonds 1NT = Forcing, asks 2♦ = 7-10 2♠ = Forcing
-
North opens in my system. 1♣ - 2♠ 3♠ - 4♠ 1♣ = 0-10, 4+ clubs 2♠ = Very nearly forcing, natural
-
I'm almost ashamed to say it, but in my Molybdenum system north opens 1♦. 1♦ - 2♥ 3♥ - 4♥ 1♦ = 0-10, 4+ diamonds 2♥ = Very nearly forcing, nat
-
P - 1♣ 1♥ - 1NT 2♠ - 4♠ P = Forcing 1♣ = Asks 1♥ = 15-18 1NT = GF 2♠ = Natural 4♠ = No extras
-
P - 1♣ 1♠ - 1NT 2♠ - 3♠ 4♦ - 4♠ 5♣ - 5♠ P = Forcing 1♣ = Asks 1♠ = 19-21 points 1NT = GF 2♠ = Spades 3♠ = Spades, extras 4♦, 5♣ = Cues
-
P - 1♣ 1♥ - 1♠ 2♥ - 2♠ P P = Forcing 1♣ = Asks 1♥ = 15-18 points 1♠ = Not GF, spades 2♥ = nat 2♠ = Signoff
-
North opens in my system. 1♦ - 1NT 2♥- 3NT P 1♦ = 0-10, 4+ diamonds 1NT = asks 2♥ = 7-10, 5+♦, 4+♥ 3NT = Most likely game.

In Molybdenum, north opens 2♦ (weak with ♣ + Major). So it goes: 2♦ - 3♦ 3NT - 4♥ 5♦ - 7♣ P 2♦ = Weak with ♣ + ♥ or ♣ + ♠ 3♦ = Agrees clubs, control asking bid 3NT = Second round control in ♦ 4♥ = Control asking bid 5♦ = First round control in ♥. If you want me to open south (not happening since north has to do something on his first turn) it goes: P - 1♣ 2♠ - 3♥ 4♣ - 5♣ 5♦ - 5♥ 5♠ - 5NT 7♣ P = Forcing 1♣ = asks 2♠ = 22+ with 5 spades 3♥ = Some values, 5+ hearts 4♣ = natural 5♣ = natural 5♦, 5♥, 5♠ = cues 5NT = second round control in diamonds or spades 7♣ = Partner at worst has 1-5-3-4 or 3-5-1-4, with a singleton spade 2 diamonds can be discarded.

Molybdenum Pass System: 2♥ - 2NT 3♥ - 4♥ Molybdenum treats weak 2s the same as more normal systems (2NT is ogust) so there's no difference currently. If south is first seat: P - 1♣ 1♠ - 1NT 2♠ - 3♥ 3NT - 4♥ P = Forcing 1♣ = Ask 1♠ = 19-21 1NT = GF Rest of the calls are natural.

erghhh.. I'll do 5NT hoping partner bids something. If he bids 6 of a round suit I'll correct to spades, otherwise I'll raise to 7. Of course, I never hold hands good enough for this to be a problem for me.
-
♦A for me too. Although I think I can produce examples where any lead is the only one to let it through or the only one to beat it.
-
Normally I do, but this is only the second time it's happened (other time I noticed during the bidding) so I didn't pick up on it very quickly :P
-
It was even funnier because on both boards, everyone was playing in 4♠ -1 on roughly the same line (play a diamond to the king, losing to the offside ace)
-
You pick up the following hand in first seat. ♠ AQ832 ♥ Q6 ♦ KT42 ♣ J9 The bidding went: 1♠ - P - 4♣* - P 4♠ - AP *splinter Strange, opps have 10+ clubs between them and haven't mentioned them. Very odd. So, what sort of hand might you expect from partner after this auction?… Perhaps a normal hand like ♠Kxxx ♥KJxxx ♦AJx ♣x? Maybe partner forgot we played splinters somehow or meant to bid bergen? Perhaps the opponents are meek? Story continues in the spoiler…
-
Did the triple post above confuse anyone? Precision: 1♣ - 2NT 3♥ - 4♥ 4♠ - 5♦ 5♥ - P 1♣ = 15+ 2NT = 14+ balanced, force to 4NT 3♥ = natural 4♥ = natural 4♠ = 5♦ = cue 5♥ = no ♣A or ♦K
-
Also, what's up with the ♥K lead? Only lead to let it through
