So, which of east and west is to blame here? It is match points, by the way.
  2. [hv=pc=n&s=sk864h85dj863ct98&w=s3hakj32dqt952cqj&n=sqj752hqt96da7c72&e=sat9h74dk4cak6543]399|300[/hv] GIB East plays in 3NT after North and I bid spades. I lead the 4 of spades. The contract is cold, with necessary stoppers and 9 top tricks once clubs break. GIB ducks the first two rounds of spades and then wins the third. Then it decides to finesse the hearts. Two down. But wait! GIB North decides to return the ♦A and then the 7, and GIB East makes the contract. <_< Edit: It was IMPs.
  3. yeah sorry, should have clarified in post. and checked forum of course. I have the same bidding as manudude03.
  4. [hv=pc=n&n=skjt98haj7dcakj86&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=3cp4h]133|200[/hv] Double, 4♠, something else?

  6. This might not be the best example- I had a similar hand that was something like this: [hv=pc=n&w=sj8hqj875dat8ckt6&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=p1d1sd2hppp]133|200[/hv] (this wasn't the hand but it was the bidding and point count and distribution) I can easily have 5-6 hearts, since the bidding suggests I might have a hand not good enough to bid 2♥.

  8. [hv=pc=n&w=skqt72ht953d73ca6&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=pp1d2cd2sppp]133|200[/hv] After south (me) shows both majors, west makes a natural 2 spades bid, which is passed out.

  11. Hold on, I need to grab my internet speak to english translator. If partner had 15-18 balanced with 5 diamonds would he still bid 1NT? He's probably semi-balanced with two doubletons and 5 diamonds in the 15-18 NT range. Something like: ♠Ax ♥ Qxxx ♦AKxxx ♣Kx
  12. [hv=pc=n&n=sakqt754hjdakcaq9&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=2dp6sppp]133|200[/hv] 6 spades drifted off one even when I had the ♣K. Imagine if I hadn't, then it would want to stop in 4♠.
  13. [hv=pc=n&w=sakj2h4dk87532ct8&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1cp1h1s]133|200[/hv] A GIB sitting west made this exotic call. Why doesn't he bid 2♦ or even double?
  14. I passed at the table. [hv=pc=n&w=s43h3dq87642cqt95&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=2c2spp2n3h]133|200[/hv]
  15. [hv=pc=n&w=s43h3dq87642cqt95&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=2c2s]133|200[/hv] At IMPs.
  16. But guys! Partner could have two outside aces! It's not anything you can simply ignore! :D
  17. If you double certain sign-offs (usually notrump ones), they will often remove to other, inferior contracts even if they are cold for the one they are in. I ran up a bidding table to test certain scenarios in which they will do this. At the table I maintained west with 20-21 points, 4 spades, 2-3 hearts, 2-4 diamonds, 2-4 clubs, and east with 6-7 points, 0-3 spades, 4 hearts. [hv=pc=n&w=sak75hkj6dq76cakt&e=s92h9852dat9cq843&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=ppp2np3cp3sp3nd4s]266|200[/hv] South doubles, and west immediately removes to 4♠ instead of bidding 4♥ which is a garunteed 4-3 fit or just passing. Sometimes west will bid 4♥ or pass, though. Very occasionally east will bid 4♠ after west passes. (with 3 obviously) If south does not double, west will always pass. A similar thing happens if west opens 1NT: (changed west into 15-17 points and east into 10-11) [hv=pc=n&w=sakqthaq4d854cqt2&e=s5hkj72dkt973ckj8&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=1np2cp2sp3nd4sppp]266|200[/hv] [hv=pc=n&w=sakj3ha84dkt7cq96&e=s9hqj92da43cat854&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=1np2cp2sp3nd4sppp]266|200[/hv] With less concentration in their suit and 3 hearts, they often bid 4♥. With neither they pass, and easy may or may not bid. Other contracts also have this problem. [hv=pc=n&w=sak86hk2da954cqj6&e=s52ha986d3cakt987&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1np2cp2sp3c(5+%20C%2C%204%20H%2C%203-%20S%2C%2014+%20Total%20Points)p3nppd4dp5cppp]266|200[/hv] After the double, west bids 4♦! and east wisely removes to 5 ♣, for a low score. Please fix this.
  18. With a minimum 2♠ raise, partner should not go to 4 spades? [hv=pc=n&s=skq642hkqd632ct43&n=sa9753h976dq94ca8&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1c1sp2cdpp2s3dpp4sppp]266|200[/hv]
