[hv=pc=n&s=sat96532hd7ckt952&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=1n]133|200[/hv] You are playing meckwell, so 2♠ shows a long ♠ suit (6+), 2♣ shows ♣+a major, double shows a long minor or both majors.

A spade was led away from the KJ, giving me a spade trick I wasn't entitled to. I won the queen and crossed over to the ace of spades. I led a trump to the ace, and west dropped the jack(!) letting me get away with no trump tricks. The rest is simple. The problems here are -West playing the Jack of trumps -A risky lead (?) Although the lead doesn't matter because I can discard my spade on the final club, it was still potentially disasterous.

Reisinger SF - 3nt out of the blue

I'll pass and run to 4♦ if doubled. -
http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/57034-clubs-at-the-club-part-one/ If you bid 1NT: [hv=pc=n&e=sk53hq7dcqjt97532&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=1dp1np2hp]133|200[/hv] If you bid 3C as invitational: [hv=pc=n&e=sk53hq7dcqjt97532&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=1dp3cp3h]133|200[/hv] If you bid 5C (this one is from the other side): [hv=pc=n&w=sqjhak97dqt953cak&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=1dp5cp]133|200[/hv] On the second one, what would you consider the strength of the 3♥ bid to be?

[hv=pc=n&s=skqt4ht53dakqcj74&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1hp1sp4d(splinter)p]133|200[/hv] You have at least nearly enough points for slam... but will you bid it?
-
Awww yeah, I got 49 :D ... 71 on second try :P 85
-
I would not balance with this.
-
4♥. If I lead, I'll lead the ♥A. Partner has 4 hearts, right?
-
2♣ to show general strength, then raise diamonds. Or, you could just bid 1NT, since it's a minor suit fit and it's matchpoints.
-
Yes, but my question is why the 2♥ call shows diamonds.

[hv=pc=n&s=sak8653hd8cakj953&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=1hp1n(forcing)]133|200[/hv] IMPs scoring. I'm slightly annoyed by this one because partner only needs ♠Qxx ♥xxxx ♦Axxx ♣xx to make a grand slam in spades, but we barely make 4 spades sometimes when he has ♠ - ♥ KJxxx ♦xxxx ♣Qxxx, where 6 clubs is a decent contract. But, if he has something like ♠xx ♥Kxxxx ♦Kxx ♣xx I want to stay out of slam. If you pass, it goes 2♥ - P - 3♥.
-
The ♠K looks very attractive to me, although I'm probably missing something.

Your favorite/worst loss ever
Lord Molyb replied to ggwhiz's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I was in fourth seat with ♠xxxx ♥Jxx ♦Kxx ♣Axx and my left hand opponent opened 1♥. My partner overcalled 2NT showing the minors, but I thought for some reason it showed spades+minor and so I bid 3♠, which is raised to 4. Dummy comes down with something like ♠Kx ♥x ♦AQJxx ♣KQJxx and we manage to go down 7 vulnerable because my RHO had AQxxxxx x xx xxx. What's even better is that we didn't get a bottom board. At another table 4 spades went down 8, from my way! -
edit: messed up the code [hv=pc=n&e=skhakqt973daqj9ca&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=4cdp6sp]133|200[/hv]

You're playing 2/1 and weak jump shifts with your partner, and you pick up the following hand in third seat: [hv=pc=n&e=sk53hq7dcqjt97532&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=1dp]133|200[/hv] What is your first bid?
-
what on earth, I edited the original post out twice and refreshed multiple times to make sure it was gone. I don't want this thread to exist. -_- My partner found a NT overcall to be a possibility when I asked him what I should have done.
-
Partner is probably minimum unless an opponent is slightly overbidding. He also has 3-3-5-2 or something very, very similar. I will risk 3 diamonds.
-
[hv=pc=n&s=skj965hakq4dkt97c&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=pp1s]133|200[/hv] Matchpoints. If you pass, it goes [hv=pc=n&s=skj965hakq4dkt97c&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=pp1sp2c(Natural)p3c]133|200[/hv] Do you take action in either case? Also, your 1NT overcalls are 11-14.
-
LOTT is screaming in my head "4♠!? WHAT?!" That being said, I would assume the double is penalties, and I'll pass.

Worst Mis-communications
Lord Molyb replied to Lord Molyb's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Maybe he thought I was psyching or something? I don't know -_- -
Partner's most likely distribution is 0-5-4-4, so 3 clubs seems like enough. I don't play this convention, would 3 diamonds over 3 clubs show a singleton/void in clubs?

It was a miscommunication, he thought it was natural. You won't believe the players I play with sometimes on this site.. gah [hv=pc=n&w=sk73hakqjt9dkjtcq&e=sa964h862dq986cj8&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=pp1hp2hp2s(Help%20Suit%20Game%20Try)p4sp]266|200[/hv] Well, he had help in spades...
