  1. 3♥ looks absolutely forcing so I pass The opponents have not discussed this agreement, so there's a good chance they have messed up.
  2. [hv=pc=n&s=s7hak43d9752ca975&w=sj8654h62d843c843&n=sat92h75daqt6ckqj&e=skq3hqjt98dkjct62]399|300[/hv] Make 4♥ in the south on a trump lead.
  3. I think 3♣ is fine, hand is a bit weak for a reverse
  4. Good point. I hate the whole auction, in that case.
  5. I blame south for pre-empting over a pre-empt
  6. apparently there is a problem because there are more people not opening 1♠ than people opening 1♠
  7. our style opens balanced 10+ and unbalanced 11+ so I will overcall 2♦, as opponents are likely cold for game move my ♣Q over to diamonds and I consider 3♦
  8. haha I like how this entire thread is up voted except the actual answer to the question
  9. I never, ever pass 4NT, or any invite to anything, unless I've misbid, because I'm super aggressive anyway
  10. play a spade to the ace, if both players follow, draw trumps (in 4 rounds if needed), cross into hand with a club and run the ♥J discarding a diamond. It loses to the king, a diamond comes back. Win the ace and discard a diamond on the ♥9. If the ♥8 drops you can claim, otherwise hope clubs are 3-3. If trumps are 5-0, finesse against either player, crossing in clubs as needed.
  11. I'm very impressed north didn't attempt to transfer to spades this time :P
  12. Do robots use losing trick count (LTC)? also surprised north didn't overcall over 1♥, and that west opened
  13. EW looks to be making 2NT since the hearts are blocked and there's no entry into north's hand, don't see a makable contract for N/S since EW have 7 top tricks, don't see a contract for E/W better than 2NT. West dealer, west opens 1♠ - P - 1NT - P - 2♦ - P - 2NT - P - 3NT or pass South/North/East dealer, south opens 1♣ - 1♠ - P - 1NT - P - 2♦ - P - 2NT - P - 3NT or pass
  14. same, but I'm still figuring out whether I should double
  15. I can not see 4♠ making unless declarer has a void in diamonds... even then... even if they are going to run I probably X
  16. [hv=pc=s&s=sak6h43dkqj9532c6&n=s84haj872dat4cak8&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1dp1h2n(%21S%20+%20%21C)3dp3s(western%20cue)p3np4c(cue)p4s(cue)p4np5s(2+%20%21DQ)p7nppp]266|200[/hv] bidding is reversed, south is dealer and opens 1♦, therefore east made the 2NT overcall and south is declarer. West leads the ♣9 (high from a doubleton, low from 3/4), and you win the ace (good play). Plan the play.
  17. thanks for clearing that up- I did not see how the other tables bid it.
  18. [hv=pc=n&s=sa98hkdakqjtct643&w=st63haqd765432cj9&n=sqj75h876543d8ck7&e=sk42hjt92d9caq852]399|300[/hv] South plays 2♠. I noticed some interesting double-dummy problems pertaining to this hand. 1. Make 2♠ on the lead of a diamond against any further defense. 2. Explain why the lead of the ♣9 defeats the contract but not the ♣J. 3. Explain why switching the ♠6 and the ♠7 lets the ♣J defeat the contract. Bonus: -Against 1♦, played by south, in addition to the 'obvious' lead of the AQ of hearts, tapping south, the only lead to set the contract is the ♣J, instead of the 9. -Against 1♥ in the south, both club leads defeat it by one trick, in addition to the ♥A. -The only way to defeat 1NT played by south is to squeeze declarer. -The only way to defeat 1NT played by east is to squeeze declarer.
